Bill Paxton kills his little secondary part too man. RIP. It's a really tight movie, I almost wish they never get around to that sequel.
stop stop what do you mean Bill Paxton died
yeah Edge of Tomorrow was brilliant wasn't it? Tom Cruise lowkey makes decent flicks consistently. Like a restrained Gerard Butler

It's funny to compare what Hadley says in that article - that he won't speak out for fear of hurting those close to him - with Allen's own words in his book.
Just saw on Twitter that Allen was friends with Epstein even after his conviction. Pity Freeman couldn't have asked that in her apologia… sorry article
“She didn’t like raising the kids and didn’t really look after them,” he writes. “It is no wonder that two adopted children would be suicides. A third would contemplate it, and one lovely daughter who struggled with being HIV-positive into her thirties was left by Mia to die alone of AIDS in a hospital on Christmas morning.”

By inky Go To PostTrans Exclusionary Radical FeministI must be getting old. I can't keep up with these new terms.

Put shortly, it is someone who specifically excludes trans-women from their support for women's rights, equal treatment, etc.

It's probably been in use for ages but it's only the last few years that it has become more mainstream.
Glinner alarm. It’s all he ever fucking talks about.
Watched Election tonight, very good. Flashier and more stylised than I’d expected from Payne.

By Laboured Go To PostHonestly that might be the best trailer for anything I've watched in a long time and Carruth cobbled it out of fuck all.
Let’s get rich and fund everything
Rewatched Sympathy for Mr Vengeance today. As good as I remembered it, though it really doesn't need its final voiceover.
Also lol, there are no subtitles for a key moment in the film - the suicide note
Will get round to Lady Vengeance soonish. Also have Mother (Bong Joon-Ho) and Woman in the Dunes in the BFI Player queue.

As implausible as some of the gambling stuff in Uncut Gems can be (which I guess can be handwaved away by saying that Howard is an addict), I really enjoyed it. The pace is so fast, it's so tense the entire time, and Sandler is so good. It was nice to see him in a real acting role again.
Just watched Into The Spider-Verse, thought it was great
Leap of faith scene looks so good. Will probably go to the cinema for the sequel.

Yeah, technically pretty marvellous (and I do think the lead performance was good - if Leo can win an Oscar for the Revenant, this is in the same ballpark - , but ultimately it’s a Call of Duty level masquerading as a movie.
The first one will be watchable because it'll be a remix of all the other movies along with fast cutting, fanservice and Giacchino score. It's his sequels you're gonna wanna skip

By reilo Go To PostJJ Abrams is rumored to be doing the next Superman.Couldn't be any worse than any other DC film
That's a HARD pass for me, dawg
Kiki's Delivery Service was underwhelming. Felt like 3 random small adventures tied together without any real central plot
Thoroughbreds
Incredibly assured directorial debut; elicits some excellent leading performances, shows a dab hand with a steadicam that helps to externalise internal thought, and stages one of the most effective scenes of violence I’ve seen in a long time.
Up until the ending, it seems almost impossibly white, to a fault - two rich girls, big mansion, nonchalant murder scene and all - and then the very last line actually nails the transactional value rich people put on EVERYTHING. Liked it a lot.

By Daz Go To PostA bit ashamed of how much I like Midnight in Paris.
it's light. fluffy. very rewatchable.
i like it, too.
I watched it tonight as well. Really liked it.
Woody stand in as main character is still tiresome, but very fun. Reminded me a lot of Purple Rose of Cairo.

I’m hitting up movies on sale lol. Getting through the good ones of last year. Knives out was great, then I wAtched Ford vs Ferrari and that was awesome. Tonight I watched uncut gems. Great movie packed with an uneasy suspense. Didn’t see the ending coming. Pretty depressing all in all though. I always find Sandler refreshing in serious roles. He doesn’t do them often but seems to perform well when he does. Spanglish is another one that comes to mind
In case 2020 wasn't weird enough, here is a trailer for thriller about a family being terrorised by a neo Nazi played by Kevin James.
By Daz Go To PostDevil's Advocate - shit still holds up really well.A peak implies she has left the top
