Nostalgia has people thinking the first two BB movies were good, or even mediocre. They were trash, enjoyable, but still trash.
What script? Escort gets shot conveniently by the French criminal who robbed the precinct that the cop who likes said escort works at, because you know, robbing the precinct for the heroin itself isn't anything worth going after the guy for.

Yea what? First two and especially second Bad Boys movie was just avant-garde gun violence porn for Bay. That plot was minimal at best.
tbf if you are making an action scene that hasnt been done before, it's probably something really dumb like jumping a car between two skyscrapers.
If you are going to discredit films that copy from other films, then Tarantino’s entire filmography goes out the window
By FortuneFaded Go To PostIf you are going to discredit films that copy from other films, then Tarantino’s entire filmography goes out the windowI'm pretty sure he would still land on his feet if that was true.
Bad boys 1 is great 9/10, Bad Boys 2 has some great Marcus moments and great hype moments but the final act is like, what? 8/10
Bad Boys 4 Lyfe though, enjoyable but doesn't come close. 6/10

Bad Boys 1/2 are some of my favorite movies of all time. I watch them all the time
Combined they don’t even score a 9 though

data is out there risking his life for us and being essential and yall dissing him here
action movies are like fast food I'm not too picky, just show me explosions.

I just find this argument that originality is somehow a high-water benchmark for determining what is a good action scene. Like someone else mentioned, if that was true, then why are all the most recent Fast and Furious action scenes garbage? Not to mention all the ways that the Moore-era and latter Brosnan-era Bond movies are just complete dookie. Look, an invisible Aston Martin on ice! How original -- it must be good!
Hell, the Mission Impossible movies are improving with each iteration and I'd never make the argument that they are getting better because they are introducing something novel or original to the franchise.

By data Go To Postbad boys fans sounding like trump defenders in hereMaybe your were born after the movie was released. Trying to play gotcha tactics with a movie nearly 20 years old sure is something odd.
'uh everybody knew that was a homage'

I screamed
it doesn't but it did for me back then. Now he's just James Bond who routinely does impossible things
remember when we did that one impossible thing? that was impressive

Some of my favorite movies are garbage. It's not like I'm posting a 2 hour patreon-backed youtube video dissertation about the Bad Boys movies
100%. 100% better.

100%. 100% better.
By reilo Go To PostGoblet of Fire: I am only half into this movie and it's pure nonsense. Who wrote this plot? What is the plot? There's so many things wrong with the writing in this.Order of the Phoenix: My god I'd rather be watching Roger Moore era movies. How do they keep forgetting to make a coherent plot that follows even the simplest of threads? The last 30 minutes was absolute nonsense.
Book was trash too. There’s no point in watching the rest of the films unless you hate life. They are terrible, they are boring, they are grey and blue . Why they gave the franchise to Yates I’ll never know.
By reilo Go To PostPrizoner of Azkaban: What a departure, oh my. Cuaron's vision and quality control are all over this, with much improved cinematography and guidance to how the characters should behave, and it actually expands upon the universe. The plot is above decent and the movie moves fluidly with an added edge. That being said, Cuaron is clearly too good to be a franchise director so I am glad he only directed one of them and moved onto better things.
seriously. the only good one out of the bunch i've seen.
the others are so incredibly boring. i'd imagine watching fantastic beasts would probably kill me.
harry potter was everything to me when i grew up and even i was like "nah i'm good" after the 5th movie.
By Dipro Go To Postharry potter was everything to me when i grew up and even i was like "nah i'm good" after the 5th movie. It's weird for me, I was the prime audience for it, saw the first one the day it hit the cinema and enjoyed it well enough, but even at 12 I kinda felt that I'd find the films to have a detrimental effect on my enjoyment of the books, and never made any effort to watch the others.
Now my mental image of the franchise is a weird hodge podge of my childhood imagination, characters lifted from the first film, and things that reached me through the zeitgeist when the later films were coming out.
Still think the books are a work of genius in terms of creating a universe and a cast of characters that are just enjoyable to be around. Shame the attempts to flesh the world out have been largely poor by most accounts since the main series ended, the snippets of detail you get in the books leave so much room to fill in the gaps within a solid enough framework, which I personally enjoyed but can see why others think it's just shallow and ill thought out.
Entire thing would be better without Quidditch.
quidditch is what you get when you explain sports to someone who never heard of them before and then they come up with one themselves.
By bud Go To Posti'd imagine watching fantastic beasts would probably kill me.The Fantastic Beasts movies are a lot worse than the original films. I saw them both in theaters and I remember nothing about them. Rowling unchecked as a screenwriter is not good.
Also, I love the Harry Potter books and I am not ashamed of it.

Goldeneye
Unfortunately much worse than I remember tbh, but the action is quite good and well-filmed (the fight near the end between 006 and Bond is fucking brutal and just what I like to see in an action film).
Brosnan is okay, he plays the iconic role like a weird mishmash of the previous Bonds and it's a shame they never continued with Bond's darker elements until Casino Royale.
Overall, not the worst Bond ever, but it's up there.
Tomorrow Never Dies (rewatch)
Quite interesting particularly in the usage of news and journalism as a tool for evil, but also extremely ridiculous and boring. Jonathan Pryce who has done really good work in recent years is woefully miscast and the poorly written script does him no favours too.
No real character work with any of the characters (especially Teri Hatcher who is so vapid and emotionless in this film) and overall, this was a stunningly boring action Bond.
I’ve still got possibly the worst ending line of the Brosnans to come (looool, Christmas comes once a year), and possibly the worst Bond overall Jesus someone stop me
