By batong Go To PostWorse than Blade Runner you shat on?the company i worked for got free tickets to all of them
Why do you continue going if you are turned off by them?
Watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood the other day and found it really boring. Probably didn't help that I knew nothing about the Manson family or Sharon Tate so her whole story seemed completely pointless to me. She does absolutely fuck all the whole film except hang out with celebs, puts her dirty feet up in a cinema and then invites Leo up into her house at the end.
By Freewheelin Go To PostThis is exactly what I told Star Wars after the prequels, and it found a way to disappoint me again.

By Laboured Go To PostWatched Fantasy Island last night. Very bad. Had tits tho.
Automatic 7/10 and I haven’t even seen it
Watched Blue Velvet for the first time. Still not entirely sure whether his vibe completely works for me, but it’s sticking in my fucking brain well enough. That soundtrack tho, whew. And Hopper is incredible.
Was thinking the other day how Lynch is one of the best directors of horror I’ve seen. Not a new or impressive thought granted. The mullholland Drive corner scene and the Dune heart plug scenes have probably scarred me more than most. I think what that tells me is that my favourite most effective horror is movies that suddenly genre swap.
Can't seem to commit to new films,
Always pivot to safe enjoyable films I've already watched a bunch.

Yeah. Although not particularly grotesque in its depiction, far less so than Reservoir Dogs for instance
By batong Go To PostSpeaking of disfigured human objects and Lynch; I should re-watch The Elephant manWas to be re-released in cinemas at the end of March 😬😷
Yup. PR1 was a great demonstration in pacing, plot deployment and wonderful effects work overcoming a great many weaknesses. Especially acting.

so.... spider-man: far from home never really picks up, does it? features some really dodgy cg as well.
and gyllenhaal's a fantastic actor, but he's totally phoning it in here.
it was okay and harmless, like most of these movies are, but it's also instantly forgettable.

yeah Far From Home was bang average, Gyllenhaal's smirk though lmao.
Still waiting for Spiderverse to hit UK Netflix
I've never bothered to learn how to download cars films, so stream them. And judging by the trailers the animation has a weird choppy quality to it that I assume is a lot more disconcerting when streaming it through a browser.

controversial opinion: While it has some really questionable politically related issues, I still find "The Kingdom" an entertaining movie.
By reilo Go To PostOn another note, I have never seen any of the Harry Potter movies and I have a standing bet to watch all of them with my best friend. I have never read the books. So, here are, thus far, quick reviews:Goblet of Fire: I am only half into this movie and it's pure nonsense. Who wrote this plot? What is the plot? There's so many things wrong with the writing in this.
Scorcere's Stone: Meh? Decent world building, pretty poor production values, and pretty boring throughout.
Chamber of Secrets: Bad. It's almost a remake of the first. In fact, if you never watched the first movie, you wouldn't miss out on anything. It plays on the exactly same beats albeit with much better production values (despite having a lower budget), but that final act was putrid. The final fight was basically anime-filler boss fight that made no sense. In fact, the entire plot makes no sense.
Prizoner of Azkaban: What a departure, oh my. Cuaron's vision and quality control are all over this, with much improved cinematography and guidance to how the characters should behave, and it actually expands upon the universe. The plot is above decent and the movie moves fluidly with an added edge. That being said, Cuaron is clearly too good to be a franchise director so I am glad he only directed one of them and moved onto better things.
I don't know if I can watch the rest.
Goblet of Fire is the book with the most obvious leaps of logic, in a series that generally hides them pretty well (enough to not damage it when reading as a child/teenager at least) considering how full of them it is.
Don't begrudge whoever had to make Crouch's plan into a film that makes any sense.
