By diehard Go To PostNot sure ive seen a good "horror" movie since The VVitchIf that classifies a horror movie then yeah.
Otherwise that whole genre is 🗑 but my girl never learns and continually wants to watch horror movies even though we’ve left every single one of them talking about how bad it was.
By diehard Go To PostNot sure ive seen a good "horror" movie since The VVitchHalloween, IT Chapter One, Gerald's Game, Get Out, A Quiet Place, Suspiria, Happy Death Day, Upgrade, Don't Breathe, Hush, Train To Busan, The Wailing, Hereditary, The Shallows.
There's been some good and different horror movies in the past years.

Lighthouse, Midsommar, Us, Doctor Sleep(meh) a few more.
Plenty of good horrors, though I'd agree the genre as a whole tends to lean into awful more heavily than anything else
Watched Come To Daddy last night which is kind of a black comedy starring Elijah Wood. Odd movie but grew on me especially in the second half.

That sounds like one of Wooden's websites
By Willkiller Go To PostLighthouse, Midsommar, Us, Doctor Sleep(meh) a few more.Yeah, there probably isn't a genre with more released movies a year than horror so there's definitely a lot of shit.

Horror movies are usually cheap to make and can make a killing so they keep throwing everything to see what sticks.
A perfect example is Paranormal Activity, made by about 100K$ and made hundreds of millions.
Blumhouse are masters at it, their movies are very low budget and usually turn a profit on the first weekend.
The upcoming Fantasy Island horror reboot has a budget of 7M and has been tracking for a opening weekend of between 17 and 20M.
horror movie budgets are a bit misleading since they usually spend way more for marketing than they do on the movie.
i wouldn't call Upgrade straight up horror
it's just gory sci-fi
agree on The Lighthouse the best since VVitch, unsurprising since it's made by the same guy

I don't think horror means the film was designed to scare, people think the last 3rd of Parasite is akin to horror and that certainly isn't supposed to scare you (in the traditional sense)
By bud Go To Postgreat poster.Neither did I. I love Wes Anderson but missed both his last two movies.
still haven't seen isle of dogs. what did you think of it, martins?
nobody knows how to play with my heartstrings better than Wes Anderson <3 Heartfelt themes and stories, I love all of them.
watch Isle of Dogs, bud, it's very charming. I guarantee that you'll come across a quote or a scene that will haunt you for the rest of your life, in a good way <3

I truly love Grand Budapest but I'll always go back to The Royal Tenenbaums. Gene Hackman was just sensational, where he was definitely playing himself irl lmao.
even his often maligned The Darjeeling Limited struck a chord with me

Royal Tenenbaums still my fav, just something about it. Probably Hackman mostly at the end of the day. Cracks me the fuck up in that movie.
By /sy Go To PostWell deserved.
the look on joaquin's face is incredible. he's so close to beating him to death.
and just because this one made me laugh, too:
By inky Go To PostI thought the movie was boring as hell but it wasn’t because of “girl power” it’s just that nothing was interesting. I don’t think any of the jokes worked and Obi-Wan was mediocre as a villain.
Not for the gamer audience. Cancel WW 2. #releasetheBoPSnydercut
I still don't know if I should watch Birds of Pray or not. Call me strange, The only DC movie i have actually enjoyed was Shazam!. My experience with the rest of 'em ranged from mediocre to downright awful. Even Joker and Wonder Woman, were just deceptive with their direction as i felt they were really hollow and soulless in retrospect.
Also fuck Oscars as usual, Little Women should have won everything. I honestly think Oscars committee is filled with White old men who have Misogynistic view on things and can't stand a woman doing a film better than everyone else.

Tell you one thing about all these 80s movies I've been watching.
They really did have memorable villains. I don't even know the last time I found a modern film's villain near as charismatic.

GOAT action movie
Gonna watch it again soon. Been a while.
The Academy is probably going to give Best Picture to a movie called Driving an American Filmmaker next year. One for us, one for them
