What they're focused on is money, and when you're asking people to spend $20 per ticket, people at least know what they're getting with a Marvel movie which is why they could seriously put out a Squirrel Girl movie and it'll make more than 90% of DC movies.
DC ever since the Nolan trilogy seems to try to make "real" films based on kid shit. Just make an enjoyable movie where Batman and Superman are beating up bad guys. There's no reason Ant Man 2 should almost make more than Justice League or Captain Marvel make more than any DC movie.

Watched Soul today!
Thought it was Good, but not amongst Pixar's great. The animation and soundtrack were incredible, but the story and the message they wanted to relay seemed muddled. Inside Out and CoCo did it much better and had a way more emotional punch.
Having said that, I am glad it was made and if we get another Soul-like quality from now on, I would be happy. Onward and Toy Story 4 didn't do it much for me, while I thought Incredibles 2 was a step down from the the first one.

Under the new strategy, there will be two cinematic universes under the DC banner: the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) and the DC Films multiverse. Films like Joker and The Batman will exist as part of DC Films’ multiverse, which will be comprised of individual stories based on DC characters that do not tie into a bigger narrative arc.
Movies like Wonder Woman, Shazam!, Aquaman, Flash, and likely future Superman and Green Lantern movies will fall under the DCEU. Wonder Woman and the gang will have their own stories and then come together in some kind of Justice League setting again. This means there can be two different Batman (Batmen?) around the same time: Robert Pattinson can have his own adventure in Matt Reeves’ The Batman and Ben Affleck or a new actor can play Bruce Wayne in the DCEU.lol

The fact no one at WB has realized the answer to their problem is the BatFam AKA the best thing in cape comics is concerning. It's right there. Smaller more action focused films centered around the Robins, Harley, Catwoman, and the entire Batman gallery. Each of them different type of genres.
Imagine a Red Hood and Red Robin movie with the style and tone of John Wick.
