I just started Wonder Woman 1984. The lasso doesn't look right and they went overboard on the film grain

Watched Soul tonight. Really enjoyed it; it’s not top tier Pixar and I think it leans into some generic ideas in a way that their best films don’t, but a really solid movie. Animation is gorgeous, score is brilliant.
By Hitch Go To PostRosa should run as far away as possible from that group. Wouldn't mind if she ran over Thatcher with her bus while doing it.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostSoul one of the best Pixar films
Monsters Inc, Ratatouille, Inside Out, Coco Toy Story the top tier
Up, Wall-E, Toy Story 2+3, Incredibles, Finding Nemo after that.
A Bug’s Life and Soul.
Then Toy Story 4 and Cars.
Then Brave.
Then Monsters Uni, Finding Dory, Incredibles 2 and Onward
Haven’t seen Cars 2/3 or Good Dinosaur.
By n8 dogg Go To PostMonsters Inc, Ratatouille, Inside Out, Coco Toy Story the top tierEh don’t care to rank them but my favourite is Finding Nemo. Your top tier isn’t at all like mine. Probably overrating Soul because that film hits differently due to the year this has been.

Saw Tenet
The gimmick was a good idea but they underestimated how much of a challenge it would be to execute the filming of it. So many scenes were just pure nonsense and incomprehensible.

Oops, I'm late for the Lakers game.
Wonder Woman 1984 is not good. That's unfortunate. I don't know what the point of the movie was. It really seemed like it was far more interested in the Pedro Pascal character than Diana. Some truly questionable acting choices and a weird tone that plagues the movie throughout. Why was it 2 hours and 25 minutes before credits? Why is the fake film grain so prevalent? What happened with the CGI for the lasso and the running sequences?

I hadn't heard about Host until today when it popped up on a WhatCulture about the Top 10 most paused moments in movies in 2020.
As soon as the card appeared saying "Host - The Final Scene", I stopped the video and went to Google.
A horror movie with 100% in Rotten Tomatoes and 73% on Metacritic? How the hell did I miss this?
6 friends on a Zoom call during lockdown and some stuff happens. I liked both Unfriended's and I am a sucker for found footage movies so it seems like the perfect thing to watch on the laptop near the fire with the lights out, I thought.
Movie ended and I had to turn a few lights on. Host is my biggest surprise of 2020 in terms of movies, I was almost at a state of panic in the final minutes (the fact that a strong wind started blowing and making weird noises outside the window didn't help).
Clocking in at a very lean 55 minutes, it's extremely effective with it's "gimmick", to the point that countdown to the end of the free Zoom meeting pumps up the tension.
Really didn't expect to be this rattled by the movie.
Good stuff.

Yea definitely top 5 movie of the year. That barbershop seen soo authentic
man I have a low bar for cape shit but ww84 doesn’t even meet that. disappointing. It looks unfinished.
By Flutter Go To PosturghOh wow. Definitely watching this now. I endured BvS I can endure this. Always knew Gal would be revealing her IDF loving fascist ass sooner or later.
Why are critics more important than ever when it's never been easier to get a solid impression of media without them?

naw it's pretty bad m9. it's too long, extra cheesey and not in a good way, suspect cgi, boring fight scenes, plot is . so bad i had to stop the movie and come back later to finish it.
outside of the first 20 minutes you wouldn't know this was "set in the 80s" either.
WW84 really went from 89% on RT its first 100 reviews down to 67% after it aired huh? Marketing is undefeated.
Thor was the worst Avenger and by the end he became among the MVPs for audiences
think its just warner bros got people with no talent working

Incredible how they keep fucking up these already huge characters while Marvel made films with a talking racoon gross over $700m.
One thing I really liked about Host is something that already happened to TV shows from streaming services and I would like to see it more on films, breaking the limitations of runtime.
The movie wouldn't have worked as well if it had been padded up with more time for a theatrical release.
By keeping it at a short 55 minutes, it gives you a bit of time to understand the group dynamic and the personality of the individuals before jumping straight to the action.
One of the main criticisms of things like Paranormal Activity is that you get a lot of time where nothing happens and that doesn't happen with Host.
Once again, the movie doesn't do nothing new but proves that cliches still work if used effectively and Host did exactly that.
It's also is probably the first horror film that integrates the lockdown we were all subject it to.
Masks are a bit of a theme in the movie as is the way we used the internet to stay connected and not feeling so alone as we face uncertainty.
The story as the movie came to be is pretty neat. The director pranked his friends in a Zoom meeting by faking a demonic presence in his house, the video went viral on Tweeter and Shudder approached him about the idea of turning that into a movie.
I think most if not all of the cast was on the original meeting

I have a lot of issues with Soul, the tina fey switcharoo + black protag is now an animal thing is so tired. It's entertaining but a total letdown.
