By Cleff Go To PostIt's just brilliant. Finishing off FoTR now. Just got to Lothlorien. The extended sequence from leaving Rivendell to Gandalf Vs the Balrog is as good as it gets imo. Perfectly paced, brilliant action and soundtrack.Wait, I am now older than Cate Blanchett was when she played Galadriel in the Fellowship?
Cate Blanchett is stunning as Galadriel. She was just 30 when filming her scenes, but so convincing playing an ageless, ethereal being.
By Punished* Go To PostMaleficent on bbc1. I think it's funny that Sharlto Copley has got a successful Hollywood career out of being Blomkamp's friend.
You know, I thought he was pretty awesome in District 9,but outside of his A-Team role, I think he's been pretty average. It's amazing what knowing people gets you in life, cinema included.
By n8 dogg Go To PostCopley’s good in Free Fire.
Great and underrated film.
Some of ROTK is just gorgeous. Lighting of the beacons, mash alan.
Agreed on the above tho. TTT has some great shit going for it - Gollum, Theoden, Helm’s Deep - but it’s too fuckin padded

I don't know, the Sarumon stuff and enhanced Treebeard sections really do it for me storywise. TTT is actually my favorite of the Trilogy, with FOTR close, and ROTK a distant third.
RotK turns out to be a bit of a slog towards the (multiple) endings, and crosses into shmaltz sometimes. There's also a point where "saved just in the nick of time" becomes boring, not thrilling. It's one of myriad reasons why the Hobbit Trilogy didn't work.

Just watched Mank. It was okay, but then I expect so much from Fincher and it's clearly a very personal film for him, I wasn't really interested in the characters. Gorgeously shot tho. Just a bit dry.

By LFMartins86 Go To PostReminder that we are getting a new Pixar movie on Friday and it's reviewing really well. They always review really well
By JesalR Go To PostThere were rumours of Apple a while back right? And they said no and are now crawling back, so that reported 500m will be considerably less now.
By JesalR Go To PostThere were rumours of Apple a while back right?idk if I'd rather apple and having yet another streaming service to get, or disney and they increase their monopoly

and brave mixed at best.
By Pedja Go To PostJames Bond in the MCU
It would probably still be an improvement on what we get now.
By JesalR Go To PostThere were rumours of Apple a while back right?rumours were for the rights for the new bond on their streaming service not the whole company.
By DiPro Go To Postrumours were for the rights for the new bond on their streaming service not the whole company.Apple needs a back catalog of some sort to draw in new customers. Thus far their entire effort has been on new original content. Not sure if MGM moves the needle but it's a start.
By LFMartins86 Go To PostCan't wait! And Snipes too? Goddamn.
Looks great.
I thought Onward was pretty great. For someone with a dead Dad, it really pulls on the heart strings, especially. I find most of Pixar's content to be lacking, however. Coco is definitely an exception. It was great.
I hated Onward except for the ending which is painstakingly tailored to destroy anyone with a dead dad and at least one older brother who isn't a piece of shit
Onward ending was superb.
Coco was average at best.
Onward is the best thing Pixar has released since Inside Out tho

Coco and Inside Out, Toy Story 3 if you want to keep going
But outside of those 3 it's actually all mediocre

Rewatched the first Home Alone film last night for the first time in years on Disney+, still gud fun. Made me wish I was having a normal Christmas this year tho :(

Wonder Woman was very disappointing. Patty Jenkins is going to make every movie about her father isn’t she?
