Fuck your artistic vision. Dude tried to get people killed over his dumbass movie, and WB is right to release it on HBO Max. Yeah you signed up for a theatrical release but you also signed up when Covid wasn’t a thing where almost a year later and life still isn’t even close to what it used to be.
They can’t keep pushing these movie releases back and if these movies are going to lose millions they might as well get something out of it, which in this case, happens to be subscribers onto their new streaming service.
I loved going to the theater. I had my AMC+. No movie is worth catching or spreading covid. Sorry you won’t be nominated for an Oscar in 2021, I’m sure you’re life is in absolute shambles right now and youll never recover from this.

By DiPro Go To Posthot take but i have no issue with a creator not liking that his project gets released differently than what he signed up for.you dont think the contract nolan signed to direct this movie he doesn't own didn't include this?
buuut it's nolan who just had to put out his shitty movie in the pandemic so ehhh.
By sy Go To Postyou dont think the contract nolan signed to direct this movie he doesn't own didn't include this?i'm sure it does, i don't think he's even arguing that they aren't allowed to do that. he just doesn't like it which is fine.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostUnreal how many words get printed and typed over such a fucking hack filmmaker.
In an era in which we only get comic adaptations, remakes, sequels, reboots and franchise spin offs greenlit with a major production budget I happily take my chances with this hack and Tarantino.
Be that as it may hearing near the start of Tenet "There's a cold war. Cold as ice. To even know its true nature is to lose." is as bad as any comic movie line you'd care to name.
By Laboured Go To PostBe that as it may hearing near the start of Tenet "There's a cold war. Cold as ice. To even know its true nature is to lose." is as bad as any comic movie line you'd care to name.it's also clearly untrue, given that the characters learn about the war and don't lose
what an idiot

Like, precisely. It's so dumb.
By Laboured Go To PostIt felt like a bit of a sister piece to Inception in truth (I hold neither movie in high regard). It did, but Tenet also felt a lot more confused about what it wanted to be.

When I saw movies in theaters up to when the pandemic hit, I mostly did it for the Alamo Drafthouse menu and to hang out with friends. Would be nice to have the option to watch the movie without going out, especially while it's discouraged in the US. Get fucked, Nolan
By n8 dogg Go To PostInception is seventy eight times better than Tenet
I've now watched them near back to back and... like yeah it's better (mostly owing to better actors across the board - and it really makes you realise how hard DiCaprio carries that movie) but otherwise it's finer margins than I was expecting.
Come on....
Di Caprio’s character is an actual person. The main driving plot point is a father’s desire to get back to his children. There’s a secret, and a very ugly one, hidden in the depths of the character.
Just on that alone, Inception blows Tenet out of the water. There’s nothing in it. Avengers had more complex characters and relationships than Tenet, and I compare both because they both have a “save the world” plot.

By Laboured Go To PostI liked RPattz tho.White privilege in effect
By n8 dogg Go To PostJust because Nolan is clearly a pretentious arrogant douchebag doesn’t mean he’s necessarily wrong hereHe's 100% wrong because he's making it everything about himself. Modern TVs have gotten so good that the difference in experience between the couch and movie theater is shrinking year-over-year in significant margins.
There's also the aspect of that production companies should be catering more to their audience and not sticking to an outdated delivery method for movies because "that's just how the way it is". If the only way to see a new movie is in the theaters and if the only way for movie theaters to survive is to show big blockbuster at $20-25/person, then fuck them, move it to streaming already.
I'm also of the opinion that big production houses don't make mid-budget movies anymore because of the aforementioned and incessant need to make franchises that gross billions in movie ticket sales. A move to streaming will actually open up the possibilities of better movies being available to the audience and not just a slate of MCU/DCU/big monster fights/Disney remake trash.
I'm pretty sure Kong vs Godzilla or live-action Mulan won't be any better in IMAX.
The movie theatre experience will always be top tier in my eyes but the giant multiplexes like AMC and what not can go bankrupt. Absolutely awful experience and prices that get beat out every time by my local indie art house.
By bud Go To Posthad to look it up.They have Wonder Woman riding lightings with her lasso.
that movie has a $200m budget.
how.
CGI is crazy expensive and the movie is full of big set pieces apparently.
Back on the theatre vs home media discussion, big movies jumping to streaming sooner has been a long time coming.
Attendance has been diminishing for a while, the average screen size and quality of TVs has been growing at a large rate.
Theaters will never die completely but the industry will have to adapt.
Theatrical windows have been diminishing at a quick rate, we went from around 190 days 11 years ago to less than 100 days right now.
By reilo Go To PostSomeone should have really taught this woman how to run properly.
How dare WB not make this upcoming masterpiece a movie theater exclusive?

I mean who is rooting for babby's first Denzel really?
pretty sure yeah it's gonna be a cash-in on Spiderverse but worse because it'll be just 3 white boi spideys

getting a master of camp to handle the first "real" big budget superhero movie in awhile was such a smart call at sony. Not unlike DC getting Burton for Batman I guess. Raimi killed those two movies. I still say the fist fight with goblin at the end of 1 is still the best cape shit fight scene
probably because it was mostly practical l o l

The advent of overreliance of CGI even for costumes is fucking dumb. The Avengers time travel outfits weren't even designed when the movie was filmed -- they added it in post.
It's why a lot of LOTR holds up better than the Hobbit eventhough the latter is a decade newer.

Stuff like Gremlins still looks amazing because they used puppets.
I wouldn't love Gizmo as much as if he was CGI.
The original Jurassic Park still looks better than most sequels because they used as much puppets as possible and many of the CGI scene were in dark places.

most things in avengers feel like cgi that i assume 90% of the movies are filmed in front of a blue screen
It's technically impressive but also really sad. Even shots where say, they have thanos' gauntlet or something, you'd expect it to be practical but its cgi.
By sy Go To PostWhy is that sad? It's a fucking marvel movieBecause even in nerd movies you've had someone craft amazing stuff before. Now it's all just boring CGI.
CGI in Marvel movies is also very uneven because you have around 10 or more effects houses working on their movies.
They were preparing to shoot a blank slate of the sequence as a backup in case they decided during postproduction that the puppet wasn’t convincing enough and a digital version had to be substituted.https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2019/11/the-mandalorian-star-wars-baby-yoda
Herzog, known for films about pushing the limits of human ability and endurance, could not hide his contempt.
“You are cowards,” he declared. “Leave it.”
we need more people like herzog.
