By n8 dogg Go To PostThe only good actor in the former is Cooper and the latter is De Niro and Pfeiffer. Plus McKay, even if I don’t like him, has a little more prestige than the director of them.honestly i didnt even remember who was in them i just remember it being an expensive looking cast
Interview with a vampire is a lot worse than i remembered.
Pitt is straight up bad in this. Getting out acted by a 10 yr old kirsten dunst.

Mortal Kombat meets Predator meets Nicolas Cage. I’m in.
By Laboured Go To PostSounds like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield might be signing on for the new Spidermang? It's been rumored since they started hinting that the multiverse would be a part of the movie.
What's wrong with McKay? Vice was a giant circlejerk but Big Short was alright and his comedy history is very impressive

I think both Vice and The Big Short are overly didactic, excessively self-satisfied smug pieces of shit. The latter might as well be a bunch of fucking YouTube videos on the financial crisis stitched together. So boring.
He peaked with Step Brothers.
Humanity peaked with Step Brothers.
Finally watched Creed II. I knew it was going to be a disappointment from the moment it wasn’t named Drago. It’s even worse than predicted, what a huge waste of potential after the groundwork the first one laid out.
I know I watched Creed II but I don’t remember much about it and always forget that I have watched it
Sure, why not?
Speaking of horror movies, that Freaky Friday like horror comedy with Vince Vaughn, Freaky, is getting some good reviews.
Same writer/director as Happy Death Day.

If anyone's looking for some decentish horror / supernatural thriller movies the Welcome To The Blumhouse series is actually ok.
Have to check that out. Blumhouse has been great for horror, sure they put out some stinkers but they seem to give a lot of freedom to writers/directors and have put out some interesting movies.
Edit : and Jason Blumhouse has vowed to make election day a paid holiday at Blumhouse Studios forever.

While I like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, surely there are like a million new concepts they could do regarding serial killers and films no? Feels like all big slasher movies recently have just been meh remakes of the classics
kind of crazy how much tech stemmed from disney
To create the sweeping 3D backgrounds, Tarzan's production team developed a 3D painting and rendering technique known as Deep Canvas (a term coined by artist/engineer Eric Daniels).[18] This technique allows artists to produce CGI background that looks like a traditional painting, according to art director Daniel St. Pierre.[18] (The software keeps track of brushstrokes applied in 3D space.)[18] For this advancement, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded the creators of Deep Canvas a Technical Achievement Award in 2003. After Tarzan, Deep Canvas was used for a number of sequences in Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001), particularly large panoramic shots of the island and several action sequences. Expanded to support moving objects as part of the background, Deep Canvas was used to create about 75 percent of the environments in Disney's next major animated action film, Treasure Planet (2002).
After Treasure Planet, it wasn't used again(Disney went full 3d by this point) and from my research, there really hasn't been any software since that does what Deep Canvas did as well as it did.
Was going to post this in TV as there's a Trek discussion happening but
I recently watched all the TOS movies on blu-ray and rewatched Nemesis, goddamn it's wild how most Star Trek movies are garbage. The only truly GOOD movie is Khan.
Wow, what a great movie tier:
Wrath of Khan
.
.
.
.
.
Kind of OK tier:
Generations
Voyage Home
First Contact
Trek 09
.
Sure it's fine tier:
Beyond
Undiscovered Country
Motion Picture
.
Whatever who cares tier:
Search for Spock
Insurrection
.
.
.
FML there goes my night tier:
Nemesis
Into Darkness
Final Frontier (Shatner is our finest living filmmaker)

I'll check that last one though
but like... anything contemporary?
By inky Go To PostI couldn't finish Shadow.
I almost bought it, was it that bad. I have an itch for something like hero.
I don't know if it was good or bad honestly. I just couldn't focus on anything that was happening. It's weirdly paced, I was expecting an easier watch like House of the Flying Daggers but it wanted more of my attention than I was willing to give it when I tried watching it.

It's a very Zhang Yimou film. Lavish cinematography with a heavy focus on colour, crazy fight choreography, like 10 plot twists too many. If you just want something like Hero or House of Flying Daggers, then go for it, but don't expect anything too different.
On the subject of recent Chinese films, I've recommended this one a bunch of times already, but definitely track down Wrath of Silence (2017).

Otherwise The Warlords is also a good shout.
By bud Go To PostThat must be some crazy numbers. Movie was crazy expensive, we would probably be talking about 400 or 500M$.
