Wondering if Ex Machina is worth a rewatch.
Great performances and some great scenes, but didn't think too much of it the first time around.

Boy in my Y7 class is in the Batman and Eggers’ next and filming with Nicole Kidman. What a time to be alive.
same.
also, special edition dvd sets had nice packaging.
i cherish the cardboard editions of fight club and once upon a time in the west.

By Laboured Go To Postcast not chaotic enough
zero hype for something directed by george miller
scust
Agree with Martins. ATJ is brill. YAM is brill. Hemsworth is cool. Miller is GOAT.

As if anyone cares about the basis of the story in a George Miller film. Fury Road is just a car chase but look how epic that turned out.

Someone saw the script for this and though yeah definitely going to greenlight the budget for this?
Watched a shitload of movies once again.
Fire and Ice
Old animated comic movie, I think among the first that did rotoscoping.
It's still a looker, but also aged. Not only visually but also in terms of storytelling etc.
Expect something on the level of Conan the Barbarian.
Mud
Nothing special and yet still a nice little movie.
Bride of Re-Animator
I've only seen the original movie which was pretty obscure, but this one goes above and beyond. Wasn't a huge fan and feels like it should have never gotten a sequel.
The House by the Cemetery
A decent horror movie. Alot of things haven't agend well, especially the makeup.
Weird mixture of certain genres. Soundtrack still holds up pretty well and if you're familiar with Fulci you might like it.
Dead and Buried
Another old horror flick. I was quite suprised by the date. Felt even older and yet it was another decent experience. Nothing outstanding or something you'll watch again, but something you can give a try.
Tales from the Darkside
Yup this wasn't really good. Despite some rather big actors (Buscemi, Slater, Julianne Moore etc.) it falls flat. It feels like that was supposed to be Creepshow 3 with more stories from King and others.
3 different tales and not one was really good. The cat from hell one had me laughing quite a few times because it was that bad and hilarious.
Maniac original
Never seen it before. It was pretty hard to digest and that wasn't due the gore, allthough Savini really overdid it. Enjoyed the take on the mental instability and Spinelli did really well.
It was a decent horror movie, but I don't think it's for everyone.
Maniac remake
The remake was produced by Aja and directed by one of his friends. Elijah Wood takes over the role of the killer and he does pretty damn well. I have to say that's how you'll do a remake of a horror movie. Keeping the foundation, switching a few things and adding your own spin.
Good movie that could have been better, but I expected worse.
Nightshift
Old horror movie based on a Stephen King book.
Not good.
Needful Things
Another movie based on a King book.
Far better than Nightshift. Mostly gets carried by the great acting by Max von Sydow. I haven't read the book, so I can't really judge how well they've adapted it.
Good movie.
1917
Heard alot of good things before, but I was pretty disappointed.
Visually it's really pleasing at times and the camera work is pretty damn good.
That's about it though. Acting is sketchy at times, you'll got big profile actors that appear for a short time and only feel like they've been put in to put a big name on the poster.
It's a decent movie that's just nowhere near the greats.
Killer Joe
Enjoyed it mostly. Good little movie that doesn't get overbearing.
McConaughey is good in that rather weird role and the other actors also fit well into their roles.
Bonus points for naked Gina Gershon.
Badlands
Bud is prolly gonna kill me, but I haven't seen it before.
While it did age quite a bit, I enjoyed it regardless of that. With the rather tiny budget at the time and actors that were still unknown, it's a suprisingly good movie.
Martin Sheen was pretty damn fantastic.

By LFMartins86 Go To PostRe-Animator is obscure?Bizarre might be the better word.
I liked The Wolf of Snow Hollow. Sort of oddball comedy / horror thing. I just really like Jim Cummings.
I also forgot Nightwatch. Really cool danish movie. If you ever want to see Jaime Lennisters dick, there's your chance.
Re-Animator is the perfect example of an obscure horror movie.
Wouldn't ever have heard about it if the guys from RLM didn't make a Re:View about it.

badlands is good, but i don't love it. it's probably the least malick of malicks.
days of heaven is what made me become a fanboy.
this is the great man himself, penny. for someone so shy, he didn't mind giving himself a cameo, haha.
and i agree with you on killer joe! that was such a weird, fun movie.
you know what? i don't mind anderson.
if videostores were still a thing, i'd rent his shit. they seem like fun, trashy movies. nothing wrong with that.

Chalamet is a great actor and it’s disappointing he’s been co-opted by tweens. Think he’s brill in everything I’ve seen him in.
And Cate Blanchett is one of the best actors on the planet.

By diehard Go To Posteveryone remember the "Iconic" casts of "Valentines Day" and "New Years Day"?
The only good actor in the former is Cooper and the latter is De Niro and Pfeiffer. Plus McKay, even if I don’t like him, has a little more prestige than the director of them.
