its the meme definition of joker, an incel, a pathetic, dangerous man cut off from society, the one that appears on the gamers memes
the actual joker is super confident, smart and charming in his own way, but that doesnt make a movie

By DerZuhälter Go To PostThat's because he's not the Joker. And we have no clue how much of what has been shown in that movie actually only happens in Arthur Fleck's mind.you missed the completely unnecessary scene that revealed that joker didn't actually have a gf?
Bad Boys 3 was fucking AWESOME.
AWESOME.
And they announced BB4 today too. If you watch the 3rd, you'll understand why.

We're lucky that Michael Bay didn't direct Bad Boys For Life, because if he did, there's no way it would have correctly handled the gravity of what transpires in this film. Properly dealing with MORALITY in a Bad Boys film is the biggest surprise ever.
His cameo in the movie was funny though.
So was the appearance of a certain someone else at the very beginning that I don't wanna spoil. Whole theater cracked up.

I am ready for more National Treasure/
All American jingoism aside, they are very well done and brilliantly paced.
The question is are we getting the old cast for this?

Put like... liam hemsworth and some other shitty 20 something actress and have some dumb scene where they're talking about Friends while they wait for the y2k missiles to blow them up

Third act was a mess, but the first two were excellent. Surprisingly earnest yet still funny.
Parasite and Jojo pick up ACE, and 1917 picks up PGA (which uses preferential ballot).
Think 1917 is the frontrunner now. Huge momentum behind it.

Just came out of BB3, enjoyed it fine, but thought the first 40 minutes was really disjointed.

mmidsommar was... okay. there’s some good stuff in there, but, overall, it falls short by quite a bit.
all of the guys (excluding the swede) in the group are obnoxious people. that mark dude is someone you expect in an american pie-like movie, not here.
it doesn’t have my blessing.
florence pugh, though, is totally cute, and a very good actress. so there’s that.

Haven't seen it yet, but from what I've read, this seems certainly by design.
Just Mercy was super depressing.
My whole theater was in silence afterwards. Unfortunately the only people that are going to watch this movie are people that already know this shit happened and continues to happen.

Parasite
What an outstanding movie all round. A technical masterwork, perfectly acted, directed and shot. The editing here is gorgeous, weaving voiceover and narratives together so seamlessly. Song, Park and Cho as patriarch, daughter and naive housewife respectively are brilliant to watch. And the scene where the Kims are struggling to make themselves scarce is as brilliant as any I’ve seen all year.
And beyond that, a rollicking good fuckin’ time with twists, turns and no little commentary on our world today. It’s unsubtle, but there’s just enough left unspoken in the script to sustain the outlandish scenario’s feasibility. It really reminded me of Us, actually; its mirror image families cast alongside each other in a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse, the difference being here that the mice had no idea they were being hunted and the cats were never good enough at the hunting.
Stunned the Oscars have found such love for this; it’s decidedly not their standard fare. But will be thrilled if it can pull of a win or two; it isn’t topping The Irishman for me, but it’s a very great movie in a strong and idiosyncratic line up this year.

Bad Boys For Life pulls off the impressive (although it wasn’t a very high bar) feat of because a sequel to a decade old series and not only being better than its predecessors, but an actual okay movie at that.
It could have been a good movie, but the last act brings it down a lot.
I didn’t even realize it was a 2020 movie but The Grudge is the favorite to win worst movie of the year. It’ll be really impressive if something can dethrone it. It released 3 days into the year and its pretty much a lock

Not much of an indicator if previous history is anything to go by, but excellent all the same.

That plus editor guilds is a sizable chunk of the voting block. If it wins any of the next two I think it's chances go up a lot
1917 was very good but i hope it doesn't win over Parasite or even Tarantino's life time achievement award.
i've seen all the nominated movies now. (ordered)

Curzon the only semi-small chain but then it takes me 40 mins to get there after work and costs 15 quid a ticket
Parasite was right. Capitalism succs diccs
Meanwhile I only got one cinema in town, part of a chain (think it's the one group that also got the vue ones you've mentioned above), expensive as fuck, furniture is done and should have been renovated years ago, they kept workers from getting hours after they've been on strike, abysmal movie selection.
Home cinema> cinema for me.
Home cinema> cinema for me.
My situation is even worse. Here in Slovenia the only decent cinemas are an hour drive away and they all show films with original audio + slo subs. So what I'll do is go to a near shopping mall in Italy, where they'll occasionally run the 'original version' of a film, meaning original audio + italian subs. Problem is not all releases get this treatment and those that do, well, you get exactly one showing. If you can't make it that day, that's it.
Even so however cinema >>> home cinema. If I'm looking forward to a certain movie, I'll go to great lengths to arrange for it.

Yeah I also only have one cinema in my city. They don't even show movies like Parasite, gotta go to Amsterdam to see those. It's mostly blockbusters and stuff like Jojo Rabbit. Jojo will probably be out the door after two weeks. When I saw it last week it was already in the smallest room of the building. This week it's only being showed in the late night slot. A normal 2D film would cost you 11,20 euros. A standard 3D movie would go for 13,40 euros. If you wanna see the laser ultra showing it's a little over 15 euros. That's just crazy if you ask me. And of course the prices for food are even more ridiculous. The most standard pilsner (0,45L) is 5 euros. The only thing it does got going for it is that the seats are comfy and everything is well up to date regarding screens and audio. In the end I end up going to the movies once a month on average during the year.
When i was a student i had an unlimited card and went about 30-40 times a year. Nowadays I’m lucky if I get to 10
