Veltman on wingback means you effectively shut down forward momentum on that side of the pitch. He's a fine defender minus some mistakes here and there, but don't expect him to cover the whole sideline.

hard to say with Cristiano. He has often played while being injured. It makes sense if Sarri was being careful even if he was just carrying a niggling injury considering his age.
