By Dan Go To PostLast thing I'll say is on VAR.It was a penalty Dan. VAR isn’t going to overturn it because it’s a foul.
Put Mane against the one not given on Silva at Bournemouth and it shows you how much of a joke the current system really is. I have been saying it all season and I will continue to because its too damn inconsistent.
If it's going to be this bad, let the referee's just get on with it themselves.
Don't pretend VAR will fix all the wrongs in the game because it doesn't.
Don't spend hours obsessing over offside decisions that involve millimeters as the measurement between the two players.
Put VAR in the fucking sea and be done with it.
Liverpool's best signing this year is luck, without it they'd be 7 points behind Man City & played a game more. Surely with this much luck they have to win the league this time.
By sohois Go To Postwhat was the problem with VAR for Mane? just because he made a lot of it, it was still a clear foul.Because a mistake was made in the Bournemouth game*, Dan wants a mistake to be made here. City fans as soft as this ice cream I'm tucking into.
*a game they won by two goals

There was no problem with the VAR for Mane. I'm saying if you compare that against the Silva incident its baffling how one is given and one isn't.
And is that what we really want? Players having to exaggerate for VAR to work? Because if thats whats needed, scrap it today.

Arnie, I am not saying it wasn't. I am merely looking at two ways VAR has been applied.
By batong Go To PostLoads of times where VAR has worked though, Dan. Just ask Arsenal fans on Monday.
It has to work every time thought right? Isn't that the point of it lol.
It's completely different to how I hoped VAR would impact the game. I thought it would punish divers and reward players who try to stay on their feet, instead it rewards divers and still ignores fouls unless the player goes down. And even when players are legit hauled down, it's still a crapshoot as to whether a pen is given.
By Dan Go To PostIt has to work every time thought right? Isn't that the point of it lol.Don't think anyone has ever said that. It's still a judgement sport.
By Feorax Go To PostChoudhury, btw. What a cunt. Going to end someone’s career soonWas a shocking one. There's knocking someone's leg and sending them off balance, then there's lunging in and bending their ankle under them.
By Hitch Go To PostI think it is consistent, it's just shit and still reliant on bad referees. Today's match wasn't evidence of that (aside from TAA's stamp maybe) since our penalty was pretty blatant, but it's pointless if the refs are so reluctant to have their decisions overturned. Not a fan of the inconsistency of when linesmen are deciding to flag early and when they're not though. There was a Salah one today where he was probably a foot offside, but it was so close and fast that it was surely worth letting the play develop.VAR has been garbage so far.
I'm glad they gave it a go, but wouldn't mind if they just got rid of it now. Just can't see how it's workable, every variation of it has massive problems.
For United against Arsenal they should have had a penalty for a clear handball by Kolasinac but nothing was given & minutes later Arsenal equalise, yet a few games earlier when Man City thought they had scored a last minute winner against Spurs the goal is ruled out for a far less obvious & unintentional handball.
Then there was my favourite United game this season against Crystal Palace where Martial was rugby tackled to the ground not once but twice by the last man, neither of the Palace players was given a red card & no penalty was awarded when it happened in the box, VAR did fuck all.
By Dan Go To PostIt has to work every time thought right? Isn't that the point of it lol.It worked today Dan, that is the point and also why your argument about Bournemouth is so odd.
The referee gave the penalty not VAR. VAR simply confirmed that it was indeed a foul.
Apples and oranges to your weird Bournemouth incident.
People just want football decisions to be fair & it still isn't.
Every week players that should be sent off aren't, penalties aren't consistently being given & goals are inconsistently given & taken away as well. It's a mess that so far has gone all Liverpool's way & they're top of the league because of it.

By batong Go To PostLoads of times where VAR has worked though, Dan. Just ask Arsenal fans on Monday.Gave them the goal correctly but we were denied even a look at an obvious handball penalty minutes before it. VAR is fine. It’s the application of it that’s shit

VAR denied the one on Silva. I've tried finding a clip of it but I can't. But from my (blue tinted memory) it was a very similar situation, I think the one on Silva was more of a stamp.
IIRC they said there was not enough evidence to award it, despite them having access to like 8 camera angles, but then Riley comes out a few weeks later and says theres been 4 decisions missed by VAR so far and I bet that was amongst them.
Could argue all night but in my eyes, VAR is a mess in how it's implemented. I like the idea of it in principle, it's just too inconsistent.
Anyway slightly different subject.
What was looking like a tough run of games for Liverpool at the start of the season looks completely different now.
Leicester
Utd
Spurs
Villa
City
Don't drop points and do us over and they'll be well and truly in the driving seat.

But you won that game.
And in this instance the correct decision has been made.
So the only conclusion is you feel we should’ve had ours wrongly disallowed because yours was? The other point to mention is this was given by the referee, not VAR. VAR didn’t have to find reason to overturn the referee, because the referee had made the correct call.
It’s just such a nonsensical pit of frustration to get yourself into. Especially as you watched the game and saw that ultimately Leicester didn’t really do much. They had two chances.

Damn, wanted some more entertainment there to keep me going into the night. Is Doicare still arguing in the shadows though?

I like VAR. I think when things get smoothed out and refs are more used to its implementation, we’ll wonder what we ever did without it n
By Dan Go To PostAll I want is for VAR to be consistent for all teams. 😇
You just have to accept that everyone in power in the UK (and probably unknowns outside as well) are willing to do whatever it takes to prevent City from winning another league title. My condolences
Can't wait for Kovac to be replaced by someone actually good.
We only need a new DM to have a very competitive squad.

VAR seems to be fine for backing up a decision the referees already made. It's been fucking awful at spotting red cards/penalties etc. that refs miss though.

Fucking UEFA
By Dan Go To PostAll I want is for VAR to be consistent for all teams. 😇It's never going to happen as long as there are infractions that are not completely objective. Offside is a clear cut rule, handball currently is not.
Football wasn’t consistent before VAR and it won’t be consistent after VAR. It is, however, more consistent with VAR. A couple of specific rules need changing though.
Just seen the Trent Alexander-Arnold stamp from the game today, absolutely disgusting. Should have been an instant red card & banned for the upcoming United game, if only there was some kind of competent video refereeing technology that could make the correct decisions during a game...
By Scum Go To PostWest Ham are going to make it.Haller is really good. Been impressed with him every time I’ve seen him.
I rarely agree with Dan and Doicare, but they're right. VAR in the EPL is flawed but whatever, at this point it's more amusing than anything.
The brits implemented something to minimise human errors, and instead spin it into something that makes those errors more glaringly obvious.

Conte frothing at the mouth, seeking enemies (that don't exist) everywhere. Inter are going all fucking out tomorrow, no doubt about it.

you worried?
and where's my 3d leg zabo (tagged you yday)
Leao literally the only player thats looked capable of producing something in attack and Giampaolol benches him.
By Flutter Go To PostIf he takes United then godspeed. Things will be dire until January.Nah.
Then it will be slightly less dire.
We'll be shit until Jan 2021 minimum.
By Cleff Go To PostNah.I have this theory that one of the reasons why our transfers have been shit for the past 2 years is because Woodward will only spend to an extent. The thing that's stopping him from spending more is that he wants to give the illusion that we are doing fine financially at the end of the discal year.
