By WJD Go To PostObviously Eriksen would be insane but:
Why would Levy sell to us?
Why would Eriksen want to come to us? (other than money money money)
1. This one is easier. Last year of his contract with little sign of renewing. We would seemingly be offering more than the other prospective continental teams looking at him. Spurs would like to have some more money in the bank before signing someone like Bruno.
2. It sounds like he didn't at first but because RM has forsaken him he's now interested. But yeah we're hardly his ideal.

The root of it has been our one deal at a time policy, which I am almost certain has been instituted so that we get the minimal number of deals done because the Glazer's don't want to spend more than necessary.

And that's taken all summer so...

By Ushojax Go To PostIf we are going to sell him then it needs to be to a European team, I would be furious if we sold him to United. They must be offering one hell of a salary for him to even consider playing for OGS after talking about Real Madrid previously.
I think he's decided he wants a change at this point. And the club are probably giving him a bit of a push now as well.
Likely not going to be the change he wanted or was expecting, but his options are:
a) Accept a worse move
b) Sign a new deal, maybe with the option for him to go next year
c) See out his contact, which is the best option for him but the club is 100% not going to want to let him do that

I think it’s a bit of a shot in the dark signing tbh.
If we were going to set up like City - 433 with two 8s pressing high, Pogba and Eriksen - then we need someone who can do the job of Fernandinho or Rodri, and that someone is not Matic.
But we’ve been playing with a number 10 all pre-season, and that warrants either Eriksen or Pogba playing a deeper, more defensive role that doesn’t suit them.

While the Glazers and by extension Woodward can be blamed, I get the feeling that its not so easy to complete transfers these days. And we have signed 3 players that Ole wanted. Eriksen is a deal I see us going for at this time for several reasons which have already been outlined by others here. Alot of clubs leave it late, not out of choice, but because of several reasons. Mismanagement and incompetence is one of it but not always. We might very well be moving on Eriksen now because of the collapse of the Dybala/Lukaku deal falling by the wayside and/or we know Lukaku is definitely leaving and Eriksen is a good option to spend that money on atm. A prospect that wasn't feasible a few weeks/day ago all things considered.
By WJD Go To PostObviously Eriksen would be insane but:yeah you guys need to accept that you're an old rich guy who can only attract gold diggers now
Why would Levy sell to us?

and that's perfectly okay
Scott Galloway's new book, Algebra of happiness is pretty good. Btw, this dude is a champ, one of my inspirations going forward.

It’s a strange situation really, his performance in the CL final probably put the elite teams off. Of course the salary is going to be huge at United but they won’t even be in the CL until 20/21 season at the earliest, just seems like a difficult move for him to swallow after dreaming of Real Madrid/Barcelona. He didn’t go into this summer thinking he’d play on Thursday nights.
Nobody except United wants to pay a big fee but they are a step down at this moment. The elite teams don’t want to pay a fee but we don’t want him to leave for nothing, if he signs a contract with a release clause then he will not get the same salary when he leaves and those elite teams may not even want to pay the clause. Like Pogba, it’s all well and good dreaming of Real Madrid but you aren’t going to get that move without playing well.
If we can sign two new midfielders then I would accept selling him to United for £60-70m. If he’s being sold just to fund Lo Celso and nobody else then that’s not enough. We need to add two quality creative players if he leaves.
Downgrade in every sense for Eriksen, but United do have great values (paying huge wages), so I can understand why he might make the move
By n8 dogg Go To PostI think it’s a bit of a shot in the dark signing tbh.Or we play Pogba as a MF and Eriksen as a 10. Pogba playing deeper isn't as much of a problem as we make is out to be. He played there all through his first season for us/part of his second and he plays there for France. Sure we don't have Kante to let him play with more freedom in that role but I think we can manage. Either formation needs a proper DM to make it work.

I don't see the point of letting Nketiah go out on loan when we only have two strikers. We need some cover there for the league cup and europa.

By Punished Go To PostBournemouth is like where we send our players to die, but they keep on paying us so that is good.
More depth leaving us but he was surely Shaq's backup, a backup's backup.

Not overly enthused about Eriksen. Less to do with the player himself (who had a bit of a rough end to the season and his dream Madrid move is obviously never materializing) but us yet again going for the first high profile target that falls on our lap instead of being proactive. Plus what others have said about our key needs. You just know Spurs will just turn that money into a better option, because they happen to have a competent recruitment plan.
I don't think our "one at a time" policy has to do with limiting the amount of money we spend. We already wasted more money than I thought we would. It's more to do with our inability to move players on. A very much self inflicted wound that one. We are just so incompetent.

I feel like we are on the same selling boat, no one wants our overpaid players. Even a competent director can't ship them off
