By Killer7 Go To PostYep n8 lets keep playing Mata. Throw in Greenwood for 10mins because that'll be brilliant for him. Lets not get Garner involved and have Matic taking his place on the bench. Lets keep Young as the cover at fullback because we must definitely not have another fullback at the club.
Don't think anyone is expecting to go to Saints and beat them easily. The issue is with how little we create and how there doesn't seem to be a clear idea on how this team is to play. Compare that to the other teams in the league.
Mm, let’s compare to the other teams in the league, shall we?
Appearances from U21 players this season, excluding today:
Arsenal - 12 (5 players)
Villa - 4 (2 players)
Bournemouth - 8 (3 players)
Brighton - 0
Burnley - 3 (1 player)
Chelsea - 9 (3 players)
Palace - 0
Everton - 4 (2 players)
Leicester - 5 (2 players)
Liverpool - 3 (1 player)
Man City - 1 (1 player)
Man Utd - 12 (4 players)
Newcastle - 3 (1 player)
Norwich - 12 (4 players)
Sheff Utd - 0
Southampton - 7 (4 players)
Spurs - 2 (1 player)
Watford - 0
West Ham - 3 (1 player)
Wolves - 5 (3 players)
Alongside Arsenal and Norwich, the most youth in the league (and the vast majority of those above are 21).
And you want to start a bunch of 17/18/19 year olds in a shit side and fuck their introduction to first team football. We cannot be relying on them, much as I want to see them.
If we start Garner, Gomes, Chong and Greenwood every week, that’s exciting. But it’s likely to be suicide. It is naive to start the season and immediately put them all into a side that is still bedding in together. We need to ease them in and fuck off the short term.
Doom and gloom and it’s not yet September.
lmao at the idea of Ole quitting because you didn't buy a CM
Firstly, you weren't even in for one which suggests to me that he didn't even think it was a priority.
Second, he must wake up every day feeling like he's won the lottery no matter how shite you are and how mediocre a manager he appears.
This is as good as it will ever get for him, everyone knows he's been given a position well above his capabilities. If he ever quits it'll be because he's done a Keegan with England.

By Xpike Go To Postthere'll be a point this season where laughing at man United won't be fun anymore
Pretty sure it will be around the time we play them. :(((
Ole is lucky as fuck he has that job, but can’t blame him at all for anything this season I reckon. Transfer window is on Woodward. Our lack of squad options is why we can’t control games. He’s slow to sub, but everyone on our bench is shit anyway so whatever.

You were linked to Fernandes, people on the Man Utd side said it was nonsense from day one. That's about it unless I'm forgetting someone.

By n8 dogg Go To PostSome stuff about youth
I 100% agree with this.
Wenger's big mistake was always introducing too many youth players with his rebuild in the mid 00s. Instead of having a core group and then introducing gametime to youth with experienced players around. He just chucked them all in and Arsenal struggled for years.
I was only glancing over briefly during a nerdy Pathfinder session but somehow I managed to catch both goals.
James’ goal was pretty sensational. From what little I saw however, Southampton were mostly outplaying United, particularly in the midfield. The creation was often askew, but United made so few chances, if they had won it’d have been pretty disappointing

By Flutter Go To PostInternational break, he will be back in time.
Longstaff seemed like a chase that died after about 5 minutes once the £50m pricetag got slapped on him
I'm not saying Ole went into the season delighted with his options in midfield, but I assume that he didn't consider it to be such an issue that it was worth kicking and screaming about.
Obviously there's a huge rebuilding process that you're in the midst of, and he most likely felt that CM could and would have to wait until next summer, where rightback and centreback had to be sorted asap.
Having said that, you have so much money that I'm not really sure why you didn't just buy a CM anyway and try to get as many issues as possible sorted in one window. It's almost as though you really could have done with having a DoF for the window rather than waiting until the middle of the season to even start seriously looking for one.

Schalke still haven't scored a goal on their own this season.
Leading 2:0 currently against Berlin, after Berlin scored two own goals. What a team.

We went for Longstaff early. We wouldnt have if we weren't looking for a midfielder. Rightback and a CB were the most pressing concerns though so that's where our shit transfer team worked on.
We would probably get another CM if we had an extra 3 months to negotiate for one.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostI have only seen Tammy in two games and he seems legit.
Against stronger defenders he has looked like a big weak boy a few times. Not sold yet on him at all yet tbh. Mason Mount though

He isn't good at his job.

Huh, Piatek benched and André Silva starts instead. That's a surprise. Paqueta benched as well in favor of Calhanoglu? Weird....

Didn't see him against Utd and Liverpool, but there are not many 21 year old strikers who boss it against the big boys. Seems like a natural finisher from what I have seen, so if he can up his game then you guys have a top striker on your hands.
1-0 up at half time, and we're good value for it apparently. Nice surprise, we're usually shit against Mansfield.
Worry that we've not done more, mind.

I was really surprised by the Giampaolo appointment. Never thought he was a future great in the making. Such weird decisons don't surprise me, and I think it will be a very hard year for Milan. Until the second coming of Allegri.
Tammy is absolutely a WIP. He was bossed by both Van Djik and Maguire with relative ease.
Not that in itself is an issue - at least right now. If he still struggles against the big boys in a year or two, that will be a problem.

A momnt of silence for Enrique's daughter. Don't think I have ever seen that for a relative of an active player/manager let alone a former one.
