What a strange mercato window this is turning out to be for us. I've no idea what to make of it at the moment.

Danilo and Lukaku were the missing pieces. Congrats on the CL.
Why the fuck didn't we target Ndidi? It's been clear for the longest time that we have a corpse in midfield. At this point it's better to just play Garner. Kid is going to get stuck in and provide more energy than Matic. McTominay isn't really a DM, more so a box to box.
By n8 dogg Go To Postdaddyâs dick.... đ
McTominay cannot be defined by your preconceived notions of "positions" and "roles". He transcends beyond that bullshit man.
Because Ndidi isn't actually as good as the cursory glance at his stats suggest. With that said, we literally have nobody so I understand the suggestion; but the reality is he's not particularly great.
We need a DM that can dictate the tempo from behind. A Xabi if you will.
I guess that's why we are targeting Longstaff. Think Fred did it great yesterday but that was after AC Milan put their kids in.

By Scum Go To PostBring Dybala to TottinghamStraight swap with Kane.
Yeah, Fred was bought for that role. Mou didn't even want him but apparently he was highly rated by the backroom staff. Played even less under Ole than he did under Mourinho.
Another player we probably won't use and will prove impossible to sell.

Still pissed at United buying Fred but playing him as a box to box. Didnt do a whole lot of good for his confidence and integration.
By ATTICUS H Go To PostBecause Ndidi isn't actually as good as the cursory glance at his stats suggest. With that said, we literally have nobody so I understand the suggestion; but the reality is he's not particularly great. That's because you're only looking at what type of DM United need once we're at the top. Ndidi is needed for this transition as we have someone as slow as Matic, who is the worst partner Pogba could have.
Pogba isn't exactly known for his energy, which is why Juve had Vidal to provide that energy. They also had Pirlo, but Pirlo was a much better passer from the back, which Matic does not have. So Matic is currently bringing nothing to the table and to top it off, he's the worst kind of defensive protection because of his shit legs. Throwing away how good they are at the men's level (as a prospect hasn't proven that yet), Garner is the type of dm that United need to aim for in that he's a good passer, good under pressure, gets stuck in, and can provide a defense splitting pass from time to time.
The problem is those are really hard to find. We don't have that kind of time for next season which is why you settle for the destroyer that is Ndidi.
Iâd rather use Fred than McTom and Matic. Doesnât stand out really but is competent, which is more than can be said for the latter.
By n8 dogg Go To Postdaddyâs dickSurely not? Absurd
Where is Fred anyway
Did he play today? I didnât watch. Heâs defo fourth in the pecking order, which is a shame. Hope Ole doesnât persist with matic.

Fred did, he was pretty good.
Tbh I think the problem with him is confidence. He sometimes takes some heavy touches but it seems more out of habit than terrible ball control?

If your first touch goes to shit when you're not at 100%, you probably shouldn't be a centre midfielder for Manchester United.
Brazilians are a toss up. Sometimes you get Jesus, sometimes you get Gabigol.
You can never tell until you've tried.

I dont think Fred would ever be great either, but if youre asking me if we play with how McKenna trains them, Fred is obviously the best between him and Matic.
Think McTom could be an option if given time though. His passing has improved so much this season.

Cautiously optimistic for the new season.
Dybala reminds me of Tobey Maguire. If he does decide to join Manchester Club, I wonder he can finally channel some grinta a la Tobey in Brothers

Juve has one of those seasons where they have enough older players who are on their way out but still effective with a mix of great younger players, and some solid players in their prime. Honestly should make it to the semis of the CL at minimum.
So Milan was good yesterday? I just saw the first half and was happy that we at least could pass the ball and have some combinations compared to Gattuso's awful side. Suso showing some promises as the trequartista was nice to see as well.

You guys really need to get a better midfield.

Think our fanbase tends to run talented players out of town. When Nani, Young, and Valencia were our wingers, Nani was our most talented player. He also put in the best season of all 3 (2010/11). Because he was talented, he would get more shit from fans as he was inconsistent when the other two were also not stable performers (valencia was in 2012). Meanwhile Valencia and Young stay on far longer than they should have at United.
The same happened with Di Maria, although that one is a little more legit. Despite not being all that great he still contributed to the most assists on the team, and him not really fully wanting to be at United, meant he left after 1 season. I can't blame the fans too much. The other factor was that his head wasn't in Manchester.
With Pogba it's the same thing. There is no good support of the idea that Pogba hasn't been one of our best 3 players since he signed. Because he's so talented and shows glimpses of an all around game, people get on his back for not carrying the deadwood to victory. They use examples of prior legends, who all played under a better manager and with better players, to show he doesn't have what it takes. Does it matter that he's been one of our better players? No. What matters is that his talent, his salary, and his transfer fee mean he needs to carry players to victory. Players who give it their all are seen in a better light. Different standards for different players. Understandable when grading how well a player did for himself in a given match/season, but not when deciding who should be at the club or who really had the better season.
There's a good chance we're here in another 2 years scapegoating the next talented player at United for not performing at this consistent level despite that other players in the past had teammates to carry their teammates, didn't have the same expectations of today's United fan who largely only knew winning, and thus even bad performances from those players get lost in time, like tears in the rain. Time to die.
BTW, I don't think there's anything wrong with people thinking he should leave based on him wanting out. In that sense it's more of a decision based on pride of a club and morale of the team. However, I would rather it be next season and think the negatives outweigh the positives from his sale. Our midfield, even with him is really weak with probably no incoming transfer to help the departure of Herrera land smoothly. So replacing him with a player doesn't change anything. Also, he's going to want to perform as he has the Euros next summer, which could play a part in the Balon D'or. And if he doesn't perform it would give less reason for his club of choice to want him for the money United would want. Plus, a club like Real Madrid aren't rock solid right now and a year from now could change the entire outlook of the club and United.

Pogba's talent hasn't really been the issue has it? Yes he's been one of United's better players in his time by virtue of him being the most talented outfield player by some distance.
I think the lack of love from United fans hasn't been due to the games where he doesn't play great, it's been his obvious lack of commitment and work ethic. I know personally I can forgive the better Newcastle players having off games because it simply happens, what I hate and what I can't forgive is players who don't actually try. And sometimes, far too often in fact, he just doesn't try. And for the position you're in, with the money you spent on him, that's not ok. That's why he isn't loved.

There's a lot I love about Pogba, but his performances was what made me get frustrated with him. I wish it was as simple as if he was being judged unfairly, but it isn't.
