By Flutter Go To PostThink Lampard's inexperience is also a problem, Chelsea just didn't have an answer to Lester's counter attack and changes after half time.
I thought his subs today were poor. We needed to tighten up midfield around the 60 minute mark, and throwing on Tammy was not the answer. Kovacic came on too late.
William should have replaced Pedro if possible - though given how poor he was when he came on, it was probably for the best that he didn't.
The fact of the matter is that Lampard will make mistakes. He's the most inexperienced coach we've had in years, while also being hamstrung by a transfer ban and losing Hazard. This is a huge change of tact for the club - it would be a shame to revert to type and sack/spend when things get rough. Again.
By Dan Go To PostI think in all of the cryarsing about VAR it’s been lost that City conceded two soft goals yesterday. And probably should’ve conceded a couple against West Ham.
By Bold 2 in One Go To Postwtf?
what happened here?
Pep said Aguero thought he was blaming him for the goal City conceded before he came off.

We are short at CB for sure. Stones was a loss and if we lose another that’s that.
By Dan Go To PostWe are short at CB for sure. Stones was a loss and if we lose another that’s that.Neither of our goals were really CB issues were they? The first is a lack of pressure in the midfield and shoddy positioning from the keeper, and the second is a midget getting the run on your players

Nah I’m just saying in general we are a CB short so we are bound to run into defensive issues at some stage.

I’m too much of a believer in swings and roundabouts to be a fan of VAR. Ultimately the game has worked that way for over 150 years, and I’m yet to be convinced a wrong referee call has ever cost a team enough that they haven’t been paid back by such favours themselves over time. It’s an unscientific way to talk about this stuff but I don’t think that renders it an incorrect perspective.
It’s not even about wrong or right decisions. I just fundamentally don’t like it. It feels like a victory for those who view football through spreadsheet columns and stats sheets. Something else for the xG and Net Spend lads on Twitter. At the risk of sounding like a luddite, if it damages the fundamental experience of watching live football then it’s not worth the hassle.

I get the feeling some might felt like this when yellow cards were introduced in football, or changes in the offside rule. It's all disruptive but the thing is, people will gradually get used to it.
For the record I find the current VAR complaints by City fans fucking ironic, considered they have a team that consistently make tactical fouls to stop counter attacks that isn't that exciting to watch for neutrals or opposing team fans.
VAR is different though, because it isn't a new rule in and of itself.
Instead it is exposing the grey nature of many of the laws of football. This isn't VARs fault per se but an issue in the way it is being implemented. It's too late to row back from it now so over time VAR will push the laws to move toward clear blacks and whites. I think the effect of that will be less 'people getting used to it' and more about some quite fundamental changes in the way the sport is played. For e.g - an almost no contact approach to defending in the box.
That said I do think people will get used to the whole 'its a goal but wait is it or isn't it' etc thing...because they have in every other sport.
The other issue is that its implementation prioritises the viewer at home rather than the people watching in the ground. Not surprising given the way football has been trending...but clearly that needs to be addressed.
