By Arnie Go To PostI think on July 1st the clause went back to 120.Only had a few lessons, but it felt alot easier and more natural than french. Struggled quite a bit with that. Kinda glad that they didn't put the grade onto the school certificate.
Spanish is a hard language to learn, and I do four hours of in-class lessons per week. Saying that, there’s no fucking excuse for Bale not to be fluent by now. No excuse whatsoever.
Be glad it's not german though. And Bale is just a lazy cunt. Most players are a fucking disgrace when it comes to the language, while others learn 2-3. Not saying it's gonna be easy for everyone, as some people just struggle alot more. Still, just having a basic understanding should be something that every player goes for.
@Milch
Bild reporting that Lyon is more likely than PSG regarding Diallo.
Spanish is not hard a language. It often seems like players who were born in Europe but have immigrant parents/grandparents, like Pogba or Lukaku end up knowing like 4 different languages. Learning the language of the country you've lived in for multiple years shouldn't be that difficult.
spanish is a very hard language

it's not clear if this is a way of forcing Inter’s hand with Icardi, who has his heart set on Juventus, or by pricing the Nerazzurri out of the market and therefore forcing them to keep the Icardi ‘problem’ all summer.

By LFMartins86 Go To PostWhy the hell would anyone sign Nasri in 2019? The man barely played for the past years and is an unprofessional little shit.If he can stay healthy, I'm sure he could tear the Belgian league a new one even now. I'm still a little sad we never got to see him under Pep -- I think he would have been great. Obviously it made sense to let him go when we did though. Kompany is getting the old gang back together. You love to see it.
Difficulty of a language all depends on what you already speak, really. Native romance language speakers will not have that hard a time. But neither should anyone from a Germanic language really, but I am not surprised a footballer earning that kind of money can't be bothered. I mean, Kane barely speaks English UK London
By Ciaran De Vries Go To Postjust purely based on numbers hereMaguire would probably be a £150k a week kind of player to start. With Raiola, we know that De Ligt is going to ask for £300-350k at a minimum and obviously given his age, that continues to skyrocket over time. I am sure that De Ligt would cost significantly more than Maguire even with a potentially lower transfer fee. Raiola will want a massive fee for his services as well beyond the transfer cost and De Ligt's contract. I am sure Utd (or whomever) will have to pay the fee as well.
I don't see how United would consider De Ligt to be the cheaper overall deal compared to 'arry. I mean if you're still haggling..
of course if you have infinite resources and live in a foreign country already no excuses to not have at least picked up the basics
By Xpike Go To Postof course if you have infinite resources and live in a foreign country already no excuses to not have at least picked up the basicsEspecially if you’ve got that much free time. And you can pay for the absolute best 1-on-1 tuition.
By Flutter Go To PostWell he wants to play in the Champion's League. Even if we pay the ridiculous amount, he'll decline from what the journalists has said. There is no way this is true -- journalists are generally full of shit. If Utd offer BVB £125m and offer Sancho a big £150-200k a week deal, he'd move in a heartbeat. This concept that the CL is so alluring that players would turn down massive pay increases and moving to another historically big club is laughable. He's a kid, he has his career ahead to play in the CL. One year of it potentially at BVB isn't going to change a thing.

CL is a big deal if you like it or not. Hazard only deciding to go to Chelsea after cl was secured, as an example. Of course it isn't the all deciding factor. But Sancho already plays at a huge club, one where a youngster is also far more likely to succeed withoiut most of the shit management that is going on at united. If there was CL that at least would be a big plus towards united. But right now there isn't many other than silly amounts of money. But that will also come
By Xpike Go To Postspanish is a very hard languageI'd say it's hard to master. You can get by just fine with basic knowledge but if you get deeper, oh boy. I mean, that's basically every language for you, except maybe English. Still, Spanish is hard on certain concepts.

You have Mexicans starting "Que padre guey" and the the Argentinians come with their vos and yo/sho and you're like "¿Qué?". Not saying that's bad, it makes sense considering the geography and I like such differences in languages but it makes it harder to learn obviously.
And don't even get me started on that grammatical disgrace that is subjuntivo. Like, I tried learning it and practiced it with different native speakers and like half of the time I used it according to the rules I had in my book, they were like "nah, we don't use it like that, sounds wrong". And that honestly makes me believe that a very minor percentage of people actually use subjuntivo correctly. I couldn't properly explain the concept of German grammar but at least I know I'm using it correctly. Can't say the same about Spanish speaking people and subjuntivo haha

Kagawa still got the Besiktas offer, in case Spain doesn't work out. Not like we would ask for a huge amount either way.
Schürrle is gonna be the hardest for sure, especially with his absurd wages...
Player swaps are fucking stupid. There's always a reason the club wants rid.
I literally wouldn't take Bale for free, and Isco is not a Premier League player.
£150m cash or nothing.

By Xpike Go To Postspanish is a very hard languageMate, I'm born and raised in America there's people here who only speak English and even then they don't even speak "properly" (look at our president for god sakes lol). Same goes with many Spanish speakers, who the majority are from working class migrant families, who don't as well. It comes down to how much education a person has and how much they read. My ability to speak Spanish fluently improves just by reading out loud a novel in Spanish for a little bit.

It sounds like Bale didn't even make the effort to learn enough Spanish to just banter and get along with his team mates.

I really like how the Irish lads on Second Captain's Off the the ball or on Football Weekly. Only accent I legitimately have trouble listening to are scouse accents.
On a side note I always find it disjointing when they have an American guest on the Footy pods, Americans always have this "broadcasting" voice that always clashes with the more casual tones of English/Irish hosts.

English usually is one of the easiest languages to learn.
But if you're a native english speaker, you'll struggle A LOT with languages like spanish/portuguese because it's completely different. For every single verb we have a different conjugation for all kinds of tenses.
Basically what wooden said, it depends of what you already know. For me, for example, I could become fluent in spanish in a couple of weeks if I really needed it.

Aren't some of the lads in here living in Nippon as gajins? I've heard Japanese is a pretty tough language to learn.
By MushForBrains Go To PostAren't some of the lads in here living in Nippon as gajins? I've heard Japanese is a pretty tough language to learn.Yeah. It has less sounds than English but is a tonal language like Mandarin and Cantonese. I don’t find it too difficult though.

Thai is funny cus every now and then you just throw an extra word on the end of your sentences. That word is different if you're a man or woman.

Staying on topic:
I was confused when I saw this in a video posted on the politics thread. Isn’t Latinx man = Latino? Why use the gender neutral term if you are just going to add man to the end of it?

because political correctness to white women means corrupting an entire language to fit their own perceptions

A loan doesn’t make any sense for us, if we can’t buy him I think it’s unlikely we will sign him. Poch isn’t going to want to bring a potential top player here if he could leave after one season. We are building for the next few years, we would need at least an option to buy next summer if it’s a loan.

I think it would be more about the chairman not wanting to do it without any option for us. Normally he only agrees loans for third string keepers. I can't even remember the last outfield one. FraIzer Campbell maybe?
