By n8 dogg Go To PostI think that was the best movie in the MCU.so 3.5/5?
Character work out the wazoo. Check.
The sense of an actual conclusion. Check.
Marvel acting with the confidence in their plotting, pacing and editing of 2007 Ronaldo. Check.
Focusing on emotion rather than ticking off plot points like all good movies do. Check.

Decent movie too.
Endgame was good, fam. I could probably sit and poke holes in the narrative all day. Could chastise it for the abundance of cheap fan service.
But it actually made the 21 films before it feel worthwhile, its payoffs were earned, and it did right by Downey Jr massively. Think his arc over however many movies he’s been in (9? 10?) is the one constant of goodness in the MCU.
Enjoyed it a lot.

It pays off so fucking well,
Wraps a lot of ends up
Has emotional core
Loaded with spectacle
Fitting end to a once in a lifetime saga.
glad you enjoyed it n8

Think I'm flipping and leaning towards end game is better, that pay off just simply over rides the things I don't like about it.
There are a trillion things wrong with the last 3 minutes of the movie. Think it’s a poor show on the writer’s part there. One of the moments where the logic is so bad it cannot override the happy smiley pay off.
By Lunatic Go To PostWhat was wrong with it?He breaks the rules a bit. He sorta closes his own time loop but sorta doesn't at the same time. Tony low key fucks time too with conversation he has with his dad. It's whatever tho. If that's the most egregious time travel shenanigan in the movie they did okay.
I don’t like it because:
a) it skips over too much drama (same reason I didn’t like the 5 year time skip save the pay off with Tony’s kid; a year would have been enough. Too many damn questions). This motherfucker had to go to Vormir and see Red Skull and we don’t see that shit? How do you even put that fuckin’ stone back? Fucker also had to get that sceptre back in the case and back to SHIELD. It makes me fink too hard
b) did he get off with his niece or something now in cap 3 or some shit? Did she never meet her favourite aunty’s hubby?
c) i dont know if cap is the kind of character that would do that. I get that he and Tony were kind of on separate paths and he learnt from tony to enjoy life, but this is someone made cynical by SHIELD, everything else he believed in. Would he leave bucky and shit?
d) old ass looked like Joe biden

Like when Thor steals a hammer, etc.

But Cap returns the hammer
Thinking about it, Thor’s arc was a bit turd despite Hemsworth the GOAT. And don’t even get me started on Hulk lol. Ruffalo was good tho, and the sfx was gr8
Widow and Hawkeye got done right.
And one day I’m gonna write a 6000 word essay on how Tony Stark is a fucking GREAT character and its all in his constant development. RDJ the gawd

I'm pretty sure the writers were aware of the fuckery the last few minutes would entail, but you'd need another fucking movie to tell it and it's not something that needs spelling out. The payoff is worth it.
Think I liked the fights in this a lot more. They MEANT more for one. Hated the opening fight, Thanos was too rubbery and he and Hulk were just bouncing off each other. And the shit in Wakanda was absolutely trash. I really liked a lot of the Cap/Thor/Tony stuff here, and Hawkeye running through the tunnels was cool too. All the big cgi soldiers vs cgi aliens scenes didn’t last too long in this.Found Thanos a lot more threatening in this too. Always hated that bit in IW where he turns Drax and Mantis into jelly or whatever. Why doesn’t he just kill them? Here he was actually out to do that.
Thanos didn't kill them because his whole plan was to make the universe better by getting rid of half the people in a fair random draw not just kill whoever he wants. In endgame he got mad and said that he made it personal now. Not saying the executed this perfectly but not killing drax and mantis was fine. He could have easily killed every avenger in IW but didn't want to.
Also, Paul Rudd and Karen Gillan secret MVPs
And yet you think he’d kill people actively trying to kill him. Not ruthless enough. Felt dumb as shit. He had no qualms stabbing Tony or Heimdall or breaking Loki’s neck.

Mantis and Drax are nobodies they are no threat to him he was in 100% control of that situation. He is the mad titan after all. Loki failed him and Tony was a big threat to his plan, they almost had him for a second there. I don't think it's that big of a deal. When he was in full control again on earth he only killed Vision because he had to and spared everyone else.
Just smacked me as false that this genocidal murderous psychopath would turn dudes trying to stab him into ribbons instead. Not buying it.
Guy could have wished them dead at any point. I’d have been like ‘kill half the universe, oh, and all the avengers’. Dumb bitch.

he's clearly full of himself, "i am inevitable" so him toying with a bunch of nobodies but betraying his conviction when his ego got hurt or people failing to live up to his standards felt perfectly in character for me. he still believes he's the good guy after all.
Thanos didn't kill Drax and Mantis because he was trying trap Gamora. He cares for her and doesn't want her to hate him, I think murdering her friends in cold blood would mess with that.
I don’t buy it myself. I think actually he avoids arrogance for the most part across these two films. Isn’t one for pontificating or grandiose gestures (besides you know, snappening). Just didn’t buy him as a threat in IW other than the film forcing him to be one, largely because I thought he was making dumb decisions the whole way through. Here, he’s methodical when it comes to Nebula, goes for the jugular in fight scenes. Liked him a lot more.

:lol yes I giggled like a 12 year old schoolgirl at some moments. That final battle was pure fan-service but it was so well earned and emotionally satisfying to watch that I really didn’t care :lol
That's kind of an ultimate sacrifice kind of thing m8. He obviously cares very much that's why it works.

I don’t believe he isn’t willing to kill her friends. He wipes out half the universe. Is that not gonna include some of her mates?
‘Stones, wipe out 50% of the population except none of my daughter’s tea party guests’
Come off it
I think thanos does seem like more of a threat in endgame, but at least he was interesting in IW. of all the things endgame fucked up, the worst of it was that they turned thanos into a generic bad guy.

nah but it would be random and fair in his eyes. his plan is not logical he's a psycho mad titan but it's what he choses to believe. he thinks of himself as the tragic hero making a noble sacrifice.
By reilo Go To PostSo that was you sitting next to me going "awwwww" every ten fucking seconds you annoying shitSorry m8, I should hang my head in shame
Him throwing her off a cliff is the catalyst for his victory.
Thanos as a character is not a psychopath, he's not some moustache-twirling villian.
He doesn't kill unless he feels he has to, he splits populations in half, rich, poor, old, young, it doesnt matter because he thinks he's doing something noble. He doesnt kill Drax and Mantis because they posed no threat, he had the Space, Power and Reality stones, at that point, he had become near God-like in power.
He kills Loki because Loki failed in new york, lost TWO infinity stones, betrayed him like 3 times and then tries to stab him in the face.

If you want to arrive to the ultimate conclusion, i.e. it's one of the visually interesting comic panels and plot armor then let's just go there now because that is what it is.
But yes, the point is that he's shown not to be a passion driven killer. He spares them because he can and will let the snap decide the rest. It's a show of power on the character's side and a show of character on the writer's side.
By Epic Games Store Go To Posti think we can drop the spoiler free thing now.Naw

By reilo Go To PostSo that was you sitting next to me going "awwwww" every ten fucking seconds you annoying shitPart of the reason I can't stand TLJ was because this happened at my showing and it pissed me off. Every time a porg appeared there was small laughter and d'awwwwwwwwws for minutes. The whole casino scene the same. The mom two rows in front of my would pick up her infant's head an point at the screen and beckoned for him to look at it and d'awww as well.
It's sickening m8. #Thanoswasright
