Bobby Portis is expected to have a market of anywhere from 5-10 teams this summer according to Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington.
The Wizards are a lock to extend Portis a qualifying offer on June 30 to make him a restricted free agent, meaning they will have the ability to match any offer that comes his way. Portis is coming off a strong season with career-highs in points (14.2) and rebounds (8.1), and he also knocked down 1.5 triples on a 39.3% clip. The 24-year-old forward is expected to draw interest from the Lakers, Clippers, Jazz, Bucks, Magic and Knicks, so the Wizards will have plenty of competition to keep him in Washington.
The Lakers are "scrambling to reshape the parameters of the Anthony Davis trade" to create another max salary slot according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Bobby Marks.Real talk: Lakers are tabling the AD deal (which was supposed to be done) and trying to expand the deal with a 3rd and possibly 4th team. Amazing.
Simply put, the Lakers are hoping to trade Mo Wagner, Isaac Bonga and Jemerrio Jones to a third team in the blockbuster trade to clear up enough cap space for a $32M max deal. As it stands, the Lakers could have just three players on their roster entering free agency: LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Kyle Kuzma. In addition to chasing a third star with the cap space they hope to open up, the Lakers are also hoping to buy some second-round picks in the upcoming draft. Wagner, the No. 25 pick in the 2018 Draft, will likely be seen as the most valuable of the three players mentioned but it's unclear what any of their markets will be.

Wouldn't expect any better from Oakland/Almeda
I think mathematically, as soon as you go over 50% of your cap on signing star players, which LBJ and Davis actually are, the rest of your remaining cap should go towards filling out the roster with players in the good-to-great range and hope for some quality ring-chasers in the mix. That's probably the best way to build a team. It also works out in Lakers favor that they can also afford to go over the cap, that's a real competitive edge they can bank on too, if even just for one year so you don't waste LBJ's contract in its entirety. Take the salary tax acid bath for just one year or two or three until you finally hit the championship, it's worth it to go all in.

Okay, who are all the good-to-great players that will come on affordable contracts this summer?
By Trey Go To PostOkay, who are all the good-to-great players that will come on affordable contracts this summer?
Yeah, this is going to be a summer of a lot of overpaid players because of all these teams that cleared up cap space for KD and Kawhi. My bet is they both stay with their respective teams, so Clippers and Knicks end up being a couple of teams with overpaid players. So after missing out on the good-to-great players on affordable contracts, you just go the next tier down, and hope for fair-to-good players on affordable contracts. But I do think that after you spend 50% of your cap on LBJ and AD, the rest needs to be spent on depth, especially if load management is going to be a thing (as well it should).
