By Doomsayer Go To PostBesides, all of our young guys are trash so what future are we even mortgaging? Right?
I don't rate your youth at all. But trading away future firsts is the mortgage.
By unknown Go To PostKD will be ready early next year.
I'm amazed you're not a multi billionaire winning lottery after lottery with your prognostication skills.
By unknown Go To PostKD will be ready early next year.lol KD won't be ready for at least 10 months
By Doomsayer Go To PostAD and his injury history is overblown, aside from last year where he punted the last half of the season here are his seasons:Averaging 65 games aint great. And injuries tend to only mount as they get older. Particularly for forwards.
64, 67, 68, 61, 75, 75, 56 (this past season)
Obviously it isn't ideal but it's not like he's played in less than 40 games multiple seasons.
AD is the reason another star will come to LA. You don't have to have to trade for one, free agents are a thing. Besides it looks like we are giving away 3 picks at max, two in 2019 and 1 in 2020. That is hardly what I would call a bad deal.
I'm also operating under the assumption that Pelinka won't fuck this up, which in all honesty is a pretty bold assumption.
FA's have been hard to come by for everyone.
Having Max AD and LBJ taking up $80 - 85M of your cap, along with the enforced minimum salaries for the empty roster spots, probably doesn't leave you max room. The cap this year is what, 108M? best case you have around 20M to spend, or aroudn 15M. A third max star would have to come via trade.
Let's be real ... ready to play and back to former self are entirely different scenarios. Even if he does come back 100% it's not going to be his first game. It's gonna be mid 20/21 season before he's back back.
EDIT: 25 million for ring chasing filler seems to be about right.

It's not 25M unless the cap spikes. By like 10M.
And spotrac actually had the cap at 102M
So you can knock $6M off those figures.
To clarify, the point of this is to point out, the AD trade is about an LBJ & AD team, with a bunch of lance stephensons at best, filling out the roster. Particularly if LAL give up 3 or 4 firsts going through to 22/23.

I understand why Knick fans don't want to discuss their team on here now. This shit is exhausting.

I thought that was too obvious.
Kevin Durant underwent surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon on Wednesday.Opt in, my man. Eat that cap space.
The 30-year-old, two-time Finals MVP announced the surgery on social media and said his "road back starts now." Most Achilles rehabs take around 12 months, so KD may be out until the 2021-22 season. He will have to determine if he wants to opt in on his $31.5 million player option, or if a team offers him a long-term max contract. Durant may not be able to play another NBA game until he's 32 years old, but he's been one of the most consistent players in the NBA over the last decade. In fact, for fantasy he's been a top-eight player per game in each of the last 11 seasons. It'll be an uphill climb, but KD's days of dominating on the stat sheet aren't over.

By giririsss Go To PostThe 3 team trade is mildly interesting in that NOP obviously don't like the assets that LAL have on the table, but have agreed that if they can get what NOP, they'll do a multi team deal. What future would they really be giving up by getting rid of those young guys?
And the only other assets than the current stash of mediocrity is a bunch of LAL firsts.
Are LAL really going to mortgage their future for maybe 2 years of LBJ and 1 of AD?
By Doomsayer Go To PostKD won't play next season. Book it.Now, understand what it is like to have conversations about your best player leaving the franchise from before he is even technically drafted by them. This has been my AD experience and will be my Zion experience.

Said it later, less about the current players, more about giving up a bunch of future firsts.
I can't remember anyone that's really worked out well for.
are we even sure AD is that good?

Kyrie gone 100% confirmed but I figured already
Oh well, he helped get rid of Crowder and IT didn’t get the max, also got Kyrie brand sneakers that I flipped for 1K, so it’s all good.

They've already updated their Wiki to have him listed as an official client.
KD is also part of ROC. I wonder if that still means there's a chance that Knicks extend offers to both KD and Kyrie. I still think it'll be a terrible waste of money to sign KD at this point.
By DY_nasty Go To Postyal mcgrady'd yourselves againknicks had two plans, it wasnt FA only. They said if they dont get top tier guys then they will just continue to rebuild, still a win win situation.

3. Teams that acquire a player via sign-and-trade become hard-capped.
If teams with cap room have no incentive to acquire a player via sign-and-trade, that means it’s only really a viable option for over-the-cap clubs. But those clubs don’t necessarily have a ton of wiggle room.
Any team that acquires a player via sign-and-trade can’t be above the tax apron (a mark about $6MM over the tax line) when the deal is completed — or at any time for the rest of that league year.
That restriction eliminates a handful of teams from even being eligible to acquire a player in a sign-and-trade — the Thunder, Warriors, Raptors, and Trail Blazers all finished the 2018/19 season above the tax apron, and a handful of other teams were above that threshold earlier in the league year. The same thing figures to happen in future seasons, reducing the pool of sign-and-trade destinations available to free agents

By unknown Go To Postknicks had two plans, it wasnt FA only. They said if they dont get top tier guys then they will just continue to rebuild, still a win win situation. So how is that 1st pick going?
Lakers would have enough for a third max guy. They'd sign Kawhi or whoever before AD and then exceed the cap to extend him because they'd have his Bird rights.
It just doesn't work in the reverse order. So if we strike out on all the elite guys after trading for AD, we wouldn't be able to get anyone next year.
Anyway, Zo, Ingram and #4 seems really reasonable. New Orleans would be getting two future All Stars in the deal, Ingram in particular having 1st Team All NBA upside.
