Yal know I was fuck China since before it was cool but "dollars make people do funny things"?
Like what? Run a business and make money? Naw you in the wrong line of work and if you've been embedded with the Rockets as long as Morey has you've had PLENTY of chances to see China's grimey shit with far more clarity than most and had no issue with the relationship or it's boundaries. If he was really about shit, he could've stepped down, said his piece, and he would've had a job the next week with a team that was happy to accommodate. Washington would've thrown him a bag for it and gave him a podcast ffs
The tweet/delete/Icantbelievethis is dumber to me than Chris Paul turning his socks inside out after discovering Donald Sterling was racist.

They obviously tap dancing for that dollar tho and the NBA knows China grimy but they don't care... Shit Morey been knowing like Dy said. Pretty sure he knew something would happen too

Nets owner retweets a burning US flag and he'd be forced to sell the team. A US owner does it and it's a non story. I get the narratives suck but foreign and domestic stuff don't line up like that.

Shit, now I gotta be the guy to say the NBA doesn't give a fuck about Africa either 😂 global outreach is about money yal I hate to be that guy but it's true
It's all lol to me. Just sayin' fuck anyone that makes Ted Cruz (even though he has his own reasons) look reasonable.
By linsivvi Go To PostPretty sure it's got nothing to do with Disney. I think it's Tencent who has the broadcasting deal with the NBA there.Eh. Everyone has their shit, he has his reasons, popular still to hate on China and all that. Still I just hate that he comes across like a reasonable fellow. Fuck Morey and the NBA for this far as I'm concerned.
Cruz looks reasonable only if you are completely gullible.
“If you look at the Black Lives Matter movement, one of the most disturbing things is more than one of their protests have embraced rabid rhetoric, rabid anti-police language, literally suggesting and embracing and celebrating the murder of police officers,” the Texas senator said. “That is disgraceful.”
"Cops across this country are feeling the assault. They're feeling the assault from the president, from the top on down as we see," Cruz said Monday in New Hampshire. "Whether it's in Ferguson or Baltimore, the response of senior officials of the President, of the Attorney General, is to vilify law enforcement. That is fundamentally wrong, and it is endangering the safety and security of us all."
I don’t want to get into this too much but to say that the HK protests doesn’t have a separatist element is... incorrect.
Either way, it’s about to get even uglier since I’m seeing more and more anti-HK content getting censored on Chinese social media. Which means CCP themselves probably don’t want to crack down too hard but at this point they might not have a choice.

And yeah that guy is literally one of the co-founders of Alibaba, him being from Taiwan is pretty much irrelevant.

I was more focused on that write-up implying a certain magnitude of victimhood for China regarding outside intervention.

I was more focused on that write-up implying a certain magnitude of victimhood for China regarding outside intervention.I believe the CCP has been using this as a tool, blaming "The West" (even suggesting that protesters were just being paid) and drumming up more pro-nationalist sentiment. If they just wanted to censor comments like Morey's, they would just do that.
By HasphatsAnts Go To PostCCP themselves probably don’t want to crack down too hard but at this point they might not have a choice.I think that is what they would love to do though...
No they don’t. There’s no practical benefit to cracking down except to invite sanctions. What they will do is start strangling Hong Kong’s many business/financial/judicial institutions to make it more like Shenzhen or Shanghai.
The fact they didn’t deploy troops before Oct. 1st tells me they wouldn’t crack down unless something drastic happens

I just think we can all laugh at the fact that it was Morey who said that given well everything. Maybe he wants an easy out and we're all just missing the forest for the trees since we don't even know his life, the new owner and the Rockets inner circle politics.
There's no practical benefit from a totalitarian state proving it can forcefully squelch one of it's largest possible uprisings? really?
What sanctification? "It was getting out of hand, they had no choice" will be the response.

Hollywood been living off it for decades. Not saying everyone who speaks out on something is going for it, but the cynical bastard in me thinks some of them are.

This might have just been the social equivalent of signing Melo, Morey just underestimated how bad it could go.
It's all shit because we can basically talk crap at China all we want but they basically make so much of what we buy so whatever. It's all grandstanding. I guess we co-opted NBA to talk other shit but it just re-inforces my point laughing at that jackass talking about "it's not a political organization", everything is political, everything is money driven, fuck right off.

There’s zero risk of contagion to the mainland, they’re not gonna do it.
Believe me, the only people I’ve seen beating the “tanks are gonna roll in” takes are US journos who can’t read Chinese.
Also they can’t roll in tanks. Hong Kong is on a goddamn hill
By HasphatsAnts Go To PostThere’s zero risk of contagion to the mainland, they’re not gonna do it.I don't actually believe they will use force to stop protests, but i absolutely believe they are actively using this as a source to stoke anti-western sentiments. Using force wouldn't completely shock me though.

Using force wouldn't completely shock me though. They're already trying force and it's working out VERY badly because of how easy it is to get video out now. They will state some bullshit and someone will call them out by getting streaming or a clip out to the global community. It's making them look like fools and liars. As much as they want to control people and censor they're old too and just don't understand some shit. They can't pull off the lies.

Durant and Boban went up.
AD will probably go up too.

Boban is just one tall ass dude.
I bet Shaq would go up too if he were actually measured again.

diehard, your boy plays on NBA TV in a little less than an hour, if you want to check on him. He was questionable coming into today with a hamstring strain (sat out of the open practice a couple days ago).
