Melo and Luke have ruined everything. Can't even hire your own coaching assistants out here anymore.
Kurt Rambis, he of a career .284 winning percentage, is out here calling shots and I am here for it. His bit where he passes the buck to everybody else is exactly what he did in Minnesota, too. The problem with the Wolves was guys didn't run his system right. The problem in New York was Carmelo's ego. It's never Kurt.

Taken from a poster on another forum so I can't vouch for accuracy, but anyway:
Apparently Porzingis is shouting at some guys calling them bastards and that he'll "send them back to Russia". May 9th is Victory Day celebrating the German surrender in WW2 and was a national holiday and celebration in the USSR (still is in Russia). It is not celebrated in Latvia since independence because it also marked the forced annexation of Latvia into the USSR, however the sizeable Russian community that live in Latvia still celebrate it.
Therefore without any further information, my pure speculation is that some tough guy Russian idiots got drunk at a club and thought it'd be a good idea to take on the most famous Latvian in the world who probably isn't keen on celebrating Russian occupation of his homeland. Whether KP did some provoking who knows.

The Athletic's Tony Jones reports that Tobias Harris has some level of interest in going to Utah to play with the Jazz and that the team would have a fighting chance to sign him if he were to hit the open market.I can't remember the last time a guy named Utah as his first destination.
Jones notes that Harris' current team, the 76ers, has Bird Rights on the player, which means they can offer him more money and years than any other team. The Jazz won't have the cap space necessary to sign Harris, so they'll have decisions to make on Derrick Favors and Ricky Rubio if they want to make that signing a reality. Sunday's Game 7 will likely go a long in determining where Harris signs his next deal.
By Pac-12 Go To PostDecisions to make on Ricky Rubio.what decision? he gone.
diehard, Jeff, ILETTERS, please comment.
Paul Millsap struggled during Sunday's Game 7 loss to the Trail Blazers, going 3-of-13 from the field and 4-of-6 from the stripe on his way to 10 points over 32 minutes.$30 million for a guy who may not even be the #3 option... I have to think Denver declines that but I dunno who in-house can replace him.
Millsap had been dominating Portland through the first five games of the series, but Terry Stotts switched up his gameplan and used Zach Collins as Millsap's primary cover, and that gave the 34-year-old vet some trouble. He added seven rebounds, three swats and an assist while he was out there, but the Nuggets sure could have used some more offense from their highest-paid player. It'll be interesting to see what the Nuggets decide to do with his $30 million team-option this summer.
Minus Millsap they might have 9 million to play with

This is a blessing in disguise. You get to rid yourself of that whole roster now. Go full Danny Ainge.

I was thinking that since they're an Adidas school, maybe. But >>
Beilein, 66, has entertained thoughts about the NBA for several years and had detailed discussions with two franchises – the Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons – last year before deciding to return to Michigan.
Beilein didn't want to move himself and his wife far from Michigan, and the Pistons' borderline playoff roster with little financial flexibility to make changes made staying in-state less appealing. Cleveland's rebuild status, based on point guard Collin Sexton and a 14 percent chance – along with New York and Phoenix – to earn the No. 1 pick in Tuesday's NBA draft lottery appealed to Beilein.
…
Beilein has run model programs in college, free of scandal and impropriety. In recent years, he's become increasingly frustrated with the nature of college basketball recruiting and the retention of top players. The impending loss of Michigan freshman Ignas Brazdeikis with senior Charles Matthews and sophomore Jordan Poole to the NBA draft dented what might have been a national championship contender.

Edit: And apparently they dropped Adidas a few years ago anyway.
I really hope this works out, not just for players being paid and disrupting the NCAA, but also because David West owns: https://www.cnbc.com/2019/03/15/hoops-league-will-be-a-paid-alternative-to-ncaa-in-2020-david-west.html

The choice for athletes will be to join amateur college basketball, the dominant channel to the NBA, or the professional league, which plans to pay between $50,000 and $150,000 per season, based on a player’s talent and marketability, he said. He explained that HBL players will be able to sign with an agent and take advantage of their “fandom.”
[…]
As an added benefit, West said, the league will run in the summer and end in September. Players will then enroll in college without the pressure of balancing basketball and school, he said. Athletes can also pursue nontraditional education pathways, he said.
HBL would consider accepting players outside their target age demographics under special circumstances, such as those who joined the military or college athletes unhappy with their current situation, without penalty, West said.
[…]
“These players are generating quite [a brand],” West said. “Our pitch … is that we’re going to offer you greater value so you can sign with a marketing agent immediately to begin to monetize your likeness.”
