By Doomsayer Go To PostRemember when the Thunder were supposed to be the biggest threat to the Warriors this season?
Go ahead and say his name out loud
Remember this?

6. Los Angeles Lakers
Projected record: 46-36
Last season: 35-47
This would be the fewest wins for a LeBron James team in a full-length season since the 2007-08 Cavaliers went 45-37. On the previous occasions when James made a move in free agency, his new teams jumped 11 and 20 wins the next season. Of course, the Lakers aren't adding an All-Star-caliber power forward, as well, unlike the Heat (Chris Bosh) and Cavs (Kevin Love) in 2010 and 2014, respectively.
11. LA Clippers
Projected record: 35-47
Last season: 42-40
The departure of DeAndre Jordan, the last of the Lob City cornerstones, is a major reason the Clippers are projected to finish under .500 for the first time since 2010-11. Based on on/off court stats from last season, perhaps that shouldn't be the case. The Clippers had a net rating (points per 100 possessions) of minus-2.8 when Jordan played and plus-4.4 when he sat. Montrezl Harrell, whose role could expand significantly this season with Jordan gone, had the best net rating (plus-2.3) of any Clipper who played at least 1,000 minutes.

Will Westbrook finally learn how to shoot this offseason.
Not sure 11 year vets add a jumpshot to their game after 10 years without though. At this point, you might just not be able to.

By DY_nasty Go To PostI still believe in OKCif PG goes back to being an incredible shooter for a stretch of games they can still win
By unknown Go To PostTold yall it wasn't on melo.no it's on Presti for thinking athleticism is the only thing that you need and Donovan for sitting there on the bench doing nothing other than being a bad coach.
Roberson being gone hurts too. I really thought he'd be back by now but he's content knocking down Ms. 2k and cashing checks.

By Smokey Go To PostRoberson being gone has no effect on the Thunder this year. He hasn't been there since jump.Yet you always acting like Chris Paul gonna do something other than show up and choke right next to Harden

By reilo Go To PostThere's a reason the best ballhandlers are usually 6'5 and under. The physics of dribbling a ball and moving at speed is just different for big men. Take away one of their tasks and ask them to crowd inside the three point line and just tell the ballhandler to "get better handles" is gonna do the opposite of what you envision. There won't be any acrobatic feats to pull off because there won't be physical space for the ballhandler to dribble into as they are blanketed by two or more players while their big men aren't allowed to be within distance of them to set a pick. You might even need to ban double teams.I dunno, then. Maybe make the 3 pt line straight across to get rid of corner and traditional wing 3s? Fuck, I have no idea. I just get bored with the way all this spacing makes at-rim attempts against no rim protection and simple, unexciting 3s so common.

The reason we don't see many at-rim attempts is because we have some hyper-mobile bigs and forwards that are phenomenal at rotations. If you lack such a player, you're toast in this league.
Getting rid of screens would also eliminate the pick-and-roll and dribble-handoff, which is probably the only reason we even at-rim attempts. The problem is, as aforementioned, the rotations are too good and even the most athletic of players get snuffed out before they attempt a potential dunk.
Also, there's nothing more satisfying than a clean as whistle swish from 3-pt land.
I wish I could go back to when Kobe was dropping 3-pointers on Ray Allen's head, daggering him with his own bread and butter.
What an intensely petty rivalry that was; one for the ages.

When they fail, though, it results in a boring finish at the rim more often than not. I want to see everything contested, with the exception of open shots caused by breaking the defender's ankles and shit like that.

Yes, it's great that offenses work toward good, open shots. That's smart and I approve! I want it to be easier to play defense so that more of these good shots are contested.
By Smoke Dogg Go To PostAlso, there's nothing more satisfying than a clean as whistle swish from 3-pt land.3 pt swishes are anti-climatic. The best thing in basketball are blocks that are really just steals after the shot has been released. Followed by dunks that knock the defender down.

By HasphatsAnts Go To Postthat's a terrible opinionIs it? Turn around bank shots are pretty af
I honestly don't miss the days of big guards endlessly posting up and backing down a defender for a boring turnaround midrange jumpshot. There's a reason the Barkley rule exists.
By Kibner Go To PostI think I prefer watching turn-around bank shots more than a nothing-but-net 3pt shot.
Agreed, but mostly because a good back to the basket game has become the rarity today.
Not sure how you make the three point shot less valuable unless you move the line back.
Will expect that many players will copy the almost speedrunning like approach Harden has and just practice impossible three point shots over and over again until they can somehow shoot 37% on bullshit three attempts and break the game though.
That will probably take a few years of practice, but I expect elite guards will each have a "bullshit impossible to guard three point shot that is stupid hard and goes in 37% of the time" move in the future.

Well, what's the problem with that? Let the game be a shoot-out between shooters then. Harden still hasn't eliminated Curry, anyway. Kyrie tho.
Yeah, I don't get it. This is just as satisfying as a post jam or any in the paint play to me:
So good...

By Christberg Go To PostYeah, I don't get it. This is just as satisfying as a post jam or any in the paint play to me:An open, non contested, catch and shoot 3 is more exciting than a post jam? smh
So good…
I love a good post jam just as much as anybody but pay attention to the whole play. In the first game, Dame is hitting shots from anywhere he damn well pleases the whole first half. So they figure the whole offense runs through the guy. Here with this one play, he fakes a drive, skips a bounce pass under the legs of the entire damn opposing team and gets CJ a wide open look in the dying second of the first half.
Yeah, time to wad that defensive plan up and throw it in the trash. They weren't wrong but it just doesn't matter because he's that damn good at facilitating too.
That's a sick post jam for real though.

Dunks are cool and good but ain't nobody pulling off Klay's 36 point quarter with just that.
Three pointers aren't all that cool in and of themselves, but when somebody has an out of body experience like that? wew

imo klay' explosions are boring af cause he's just catching and shooting. When Curry or Kyrie catch fire? whew. They're actively trying to embarrass the defense.
I'll concede that a ISO post followed by a dunk is more fun to watch than a slick handle on the perimeter followed by a 3 pointer. But that's not because I respect either one less than the other. Same amount of skill, different skill set.

By Epic Games Store Go To Poststeph is the most entertaining player i've ever seen play and he never dunks.so you like steph and not basketball. they're not mutually exclusive, you want less regular season games, less playoff games, less basketball.
your theory is flawed.

Steph is fun and all, but this man made basketball look like ballet
Give me this anyday of the week over the 3 obsession
By sy xxx Go To Postso you like steph and not basketball. they're not mutually exclusive, you want less regular season games, less playoff games, less basketball.i would be fine with 82 games if they actually matered more. i like football and there you have 30-ish games and the best team is champion. perfect.
if you do playoffs and let more than half of the teams participate you can do it after 60. i don't watch a lot of nfl but every single game matters there.
