By Jonm Go To PostNot a fan of this hire. Would of taken any of the other people on the leaked list they put out over the guy that fought to take Anthony Bennett first overall.
i can think of excuses for some of his moves, but can't think of anything that was really impressive either

By Dark PhaZe Go To Posti can think of excuses for some of his moves, but can't think of anything that was really impressive eitherYeah.
When you break him down, It's hard to find what his core competency is supposed to be? Or why the Pels were impressed with him(other then being the most experienced/safest pick)
- He wasn't particularly impressive in drafting.
- He's not particularly impressive in the trades he has made or the overall roster construction process(unless you call lucking into a motivated Lebron roster building).
- Has been kind of a miss in terms of coaching hires.

"The issue with Anthony was, and we had no way of knowing it at the time, the kid had no desire to overcome adversity whatsoever. As soon as it was hard, he was out," (David) Griffin said. "His whole life, he rolled out of a bed bigger, better, and more talented than everybody else. As soon as it was hard, it was over. And I was the one on campus at UNLV. I'm the one who got sold the bill of goods and I bought it hook, line, and sinker. You f*** up sometimes. But I feel bad Chris took it for that, because Chris was the one guy who wasn't sure."
No way of knowing....except the people around you that warned about him and you thought you were the smartest guy in the room and still don't wnat to fully admit being wrong.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postthe thing I don't get about the luke bashing is that everyone knew that roster was buttLuke has almost no idea how to utilize players strengths. Look at how much better Randle and Russell have been outside of his system.
what is that luke failed at for him to get blamed for?
I don't know how much of this next point you can blame on Luke but this team had a serious problem with playing down to their competition.

Randle actually showed a lot of improvement in his last year as a Laker. He'd have probably put up good numbers the following year. D'Angelo didn't get time to develop in LA before they traded him.
By Dark PhaZe Go To Postif the lakers actually hire Lue…man, yikes
By Kibner Go To PostPlease don't ruin Monty with Lakers taint. Please no.I don't think he is a particularly great coach, but man, he is too good of a guy to have to deal with that dumpster fire and the fans that will be clamoring to throw him in if they don't luck into some major FA's/trades.

$800M in public spending to keep the Pacers in Indiana, this is so crazy to me.

Paying for a sports arena is maybe the worst use of public funds. The cities never make the money back and the projects don't create meaningful jobs. People gotta stop falling for this.
It's legit the only reason I am okay with Warriors new arena in SF because they financed it all privately.
By Random Ass Username Go To PostIndiana should be putting that money towards Gary not a team. They'd be better off putting that money towards literally anything else. Sports teams add nothing to your economy, they don't create jobs, and the state will in all likelihood never pay off the bonds they take out to pay for this.
When the new Vikings stadium happened, Minneapolis was still paying off the Metrodome. Like, how dumb are politicians?
In some places it's passed on to the citizens to vote on so not just politicians. The Niners stadium was up to the city's peoples. They wanted it.
Utah can't do what the Bucks did because they don't have a guard with enough length size/length to make it work or a long big mobile enough to recover on Harden.
By The Frankman Go To PostUtah can't do what the Bucks did because they don't have a guard with enough length size/length to make it work or a long big mobile enough to recover on Harden.
It was mostly Eric Bledsoe and George Hill though....Mitchell is like a combination of both as far as size/length goes
By The Frankman Go To PostUtah can't do what the Bucks did because they don't have a guard with enough length size/length to make it work or a long big mobile enough to recover on Harden.I think people are taking too much away from a single game where they relied on Gordon/Tucker to shoot 1-13 from three.

.... Gobert is much more mobile than Bropez.
The goal for the Jazz will obviously be to simplify this series down to Harden vs. Gobert and hope Gobert wins those matchups and avoids fouls. Ingles and O'Neale are good defenders. But, uhh, yeah, this will be hard in general.
My gut had the Jazz at a 30% chance of winning the series yesterday... Checked 538 and they have the Jazz at 30%.
So 30% is probably right, lol.
I think he was talking about Giannis being a mobile big.
Houston's ability to consistently score in 1 on 1 situations and without relying on fast-break scoring directly counters what the Jazz do well on defense. Their ability to play pretty good defense (#2 in the NBA since the break i think) while switching everything is great against the Jazz's offensive of screen and roll a billion times.
People think shading Harden and making Tucker and Gordon shoot open 3's is a good strategy? What about blitzing Mitchell on the pick and roll while sending weakside help to take away Gobert's roll to leave Rubio or Crowder to shoot open 3's? Korver isn't even practicing again yet.
It's a match-up nightmare and Snyder will have to pull off some evil genius shit for it to even be semi-competitive IMO.

Joel Embiid (left knee soreness) is listed as doubtful for Game 1 against the Nets on Saturday.uh-oh. Again, Doubtful tag means 25% chance to play, I have no idea how he got so much rest down the stretch and got downgraded.
Maybe it's a reverse Anthony Davis probable tag, but either way this is concerning news. Embiid has been limited for most of the post-break run as the 76ers prepare for a postseason run. Perhaps they want to be careful with him at home, and we should get more news Saturday morning. Jonah Bolden (knee) is also questionable, so the 76ers may have to look at Mike Scott and Boban Marjanovic more than expected.

2018 - Motivate...
There's gold at stake for Golden State,
How much weight can King's shoulders take?
When the odds ain't great some fold and break…
While greats let the dreams of a ring motivate…
Boys become men when postseasons begin…
These lights shine brighter baby, sink or you swim,
To those who got here by the skin of they teeth,
The formula's the same now; win and repeat
Never sleep on a man that's expected to lose…
With a chip on his shoulder and something to prove,
The bottom's full of Wolves and they thirsty for blood,
The mission is to catch somebody slipping above…
"But numbers don't lie", I've heard 'em say it at times…
"Cream rises to the top", is a favorite of mine,
And the cream of this crop you'll admit is impressive,
But to quote the boy Hov, "Gotta finish your breakfast"
And watch for the quiet ones, they bringin' the storm,
Even with a man down, "The show must go on"
No time for crying, better pick up the slack,
Cause ain't no guarantee that you gon' ever be back…

Good luck to all playoff teams! Hope everyone is healthy throughout this thing, injuries suck.
I think Warriors win it again but I Def think KD is gone regardless of us winning it all or not. Dude just has had one foot out the door all year.
