TBH no statistical model can overcome the fact that Golden State has multiple stars, and Houston has one. CP3 is washed(and not the best fit with Harden anyway), and Eric Gordon would be nice in the Iggy role, but there's no way he can be your 2nd-best player if you want to beat the Warriors. You can see what they were thinking with Capela(The Warriors always go small, we need a guy who can defend in space) but they forgot to account for Draymond making Capela a zero on offense.
I don't think it's very easy to build around a guy like Harden who wants to just iso and shoot stepbacks/bait for fouls continuously, but the ideal 2nd star would probably be a big with ballhandling skills. AD, Giannis, Porzingis, Jokic, etc. Good luck getting one of those LOL.

Wonder if the Clippers would take Paul back for even just Lou Williams or Harrell. Or even a 1st
Guessing no

analytics are great and can really be helpful but the Rockets are a perfect example of doing too much
A less talented Rockets team almost beat a more talented Warriors team if CP3 didn’t go down last year.
A warriors team that themselves is ran by techies, coached by a Sloan nerd, and ran an offensive system based on D’antoni’s protege incorporating 90% of analytical philosophy Morey has. Led by two analytical video game characters that can spam the three like it’s Pro mode on 2K. That today, given the Rockets reliance on iso ball, is probably more in line with the ideal “nerd” philosophy of basketball than the Rockets.
I really don’t get this conversation or West’s pretending like a perfect execution of that philosophy isn’t part of what got him rings?

Except the Rockets model is what has allowed them to come as close as they have, and closer than any other team. But y'all know that. I guess they should start taking advice from other teams who aren't even in the playoffs tho . And considering who runs the warriors west comment is lul. Nikkas be really acting willfully ignorant to the fact that they have 2 of the top 5 shooters of all time on their squad. Like every team got that in house smh.
Every game was decided by 6 or less. The rockets lost the series because they couldn't out rebound the warriors, not because they didn't take long 2s.
Dantoni needs to go tho. Mans hasn't coached in 3 years .

Been watching a lot of these playoffs and even after last night I still think the Warriors are beatable by the Bucks or Nuggets.
The Rockets style of ball is very annoying and hard to watch. The foul baiting is embarrassing and the iso ball brought back bad memories of the Iso-Joe Hawks days.

rockets still came relatively close to beating the warriors last year and put up a solid fight this year despite having honestly a pretty bad roster. they had a terrible 2018 offseason with lol signings of trash melo and mcw. its all gonna fall apart tho as cp3 continues to decline and morey the dumbass has to reckon that he paid basically khem birch 90 million dollars.
I think D'Antoni basically cost them the series this year by playing Gerald Green. He played Green in the fourth quarter in games 2 and 6 and the game slipped away both times. Those really should've been Shumpert minutes.
And Capela. He continued to play him. He didn’t run Faried once, and House saw action in only one game, one of the best shooters on the squad. He literally doesn’t coach and his management is trash. I said it earlier in the season he needed to go.
Fraudkets got two wins against an injured GS team.
Clips got two wins against a healthy GS squad.
🤔
Douchemarcus doesn't count since he's a net negative

And they are not taking more than a game if they advance.

… Wow
What's there to defend? Analytics have their place always but clearly it hasn't been balanced out by making good coaching decisions and trades.
Morey ball is a failure
This ain't even a real Steph curry he dealing with. Dude out there looking like All Might without the sauce

I mean, this Warriors team is incredible through and through. I wouldn't call Stockton to Malone a failure for instance, they just ran into someone they couldn't beat, this is the nature of sports. Rockets have been putting up a good fight for years. They do have to rethink Paul's place in the hierarchy.
The fight they put up is centered around praying threes fall and changing actual rules of basketball to flop 😂 foh. Yal gonna stop with this "both teams played hard" stuff.
Clippers gave Warriors the same fight and they traded their best player this year

It's failure if you keep doing the same shit, hoping for better results and trading away players who actually do shit and signing people for far too much money who don't produce.
In the last 30 years, only 10 teams have won championships. It's how this game works when one generational player can basically do it by himself. Seriously, rings are not everything. Not winning one does not mean everything the Rockets have done, being one of the winningest teams this decade and basically only ever losing to the Warriors, was a failure. That's so stupid and myopic.

Yal gonna stop with this "both teams played hard" stuff. You just described Wade's tears and LeBron's travelling. I hate it. But gaming the system has defined this generation, it even killed the all star game who hasn't been fun in fifteen years. I wish it wasn't, but that's how it is. Curry is top 20 all time already IMO, i appreciate that another team makes him sweat.
And they won by breaking basketball. That's what they're known for - shooting 50 3s in a half and institutionalizing flopping.
Yeah, we'll all look back and think of all the great Rockets games. What a time.
This is a dude who'll spend an entire possession looking for an arm to hook instead of taking a 18 foot jumper.

Jesus the rockets are done, it's over, it's been obvious for years they don't pay enough attention to shit outside of numbers or maybe even in the the numbers, because I wonder what numbers Morey was looking at when he traded off Ariza and signed Paul. Or how he factored in Harden's boxing out abilities.

I miss the 90s midrange/slashing game. But if I'm looking for the birth of big time flopping, IMO it's Wade '06.
