Beating Mercedes this season seems optimistic, but I really hope RBR can sneak in that second team spot beating the Ferrari's this season. Max is a capable enough driver, now to find out how reliable the Honda motor will be to them the long run.
Was away on the weekend so I haven't seen that much, but Gasly made less of an impression for his first weekend than I would have expected.

but I was thinking the same at the time, hope Renault get their act together quickly.

Round 2 Bahrain GP
track, extra DRS zone so that those that got passed by DRS can fight back using DRS.
tire choices
Last season:
FP1 - Ricciardo - 1.31.060
FP2 - Raikkonen - 1.29.817
FP3 - Raikkonen - 1.29.868
Qualify - Vettel - 1.27.958
Race - Vettel - 1u32min01.940
Fastest Lap - Bottas - 1.33.740
Curious to see how the order will be on a completely different type of track, rear limited and far more abrasive tarmac. Did Ferrari have problems or was it just a one of and do they go back to Barca form, can RBR benefit from the drive-ability of the Honda engine the way McLaren/Toro Rosso did on this track (power delivery/rear limited). And can Haas stay on top of the midfield train, Renault need a good showing to easy some of the pressure that's building up.
And lastly, some data analysis from last race qualifying from top 3, probably from data feeds/apps so don't overanalyse, but still some interesting differences between cars/drivers.

guess that Honda engine is better as some might have thought pre-season

Ferrari WC 2019 ;)
But just shows you should not read to much in a FP session or a 1st race for that matter.
Hulk a sleep, wasn't the only one ;)
Lance
Ferrari with extra focus and sets of reds for today. Haven't seen that before, but with FP3 tomorrow again in daytime and way hotter, might be smart move. Both Mercs and Max could have gone bit faster, but single lap Ferrari looked fastest. Long run not much in between those three, just that RBR started slightly slower but had less drop of than the other two.
Midfield close other than Hulk lap and will be decided and won by the team hat can hold on to their rear tires the best.
RBR seems strong on the medium tyre but they need to get the softs to work properly in order to have shot at the podium.
Single lap pace Ferrari is to fast for the others, specially first sector (engine/lower drag maybe). Mercedes will be bit closer but cannot see them closing the entire gap. Max was about 1-2 tenths of the Mercedes boys, but did get a decent final sector in his lap.
Midfield within few tenths so perfect lap and some rear tires left out of final corner will be deciding and DannyRic and Gasly need to step it up quickly.
CHARLESSSSSSSSS first pole !! and new track record to boot!!
Ferrari front row lock-out, vettel with the extra run in Q2 probably cost him a bit and Max just ahead of Magnussen, lets hope race pace is better tomorrow

Should be great race as there wasn't to much between the Ferrari's (quick early on) and Mercedes (better on tires and faster later on) on Friday, curious if Max can keep it close enough that he is some where near them when the pitstops happen as they looked better on the harder compound.
On the other hand with so many cars this close, specially midfield, it could be carnage in the 1st few corners ;) and than there still is the option 0f 1 and two pitstops and late safetycars, so bring it on.
Charles vs Lewis from yesterday Q

make things interresting if he can keep Vetel behind

Ferrari also had extra sets of softs, so weird Merc put Lewis on the reds in 2nd run.

lives a bitch, poor Cahrles their goes your 1st Ferrari win :( , at least will win one later this year and your teammate error just became a bigger fuckup
That’s FAIL B and what looks like some blue screen of death error message on LecLerc’s wheel not looking exactly encouraging.
Renault to the resque, both cars out :wow:
Sainz also engine?
please take your time Marshalls and get Charles on the podium

Sport is hard sometimes, but cannot fault Lewis and Merc for it, luckily Charles was saved by Renault
Also means Lando P6 top

Valtteri will hold the points lead because of the fastest lap in Melbourne.

So Is vettel just not the guy anymore or does his car suck. I haven't really paid attention since he left rbr
By domino Go To PostSo Is vettel just not the guy anymore or does his car suck. I haven't really paid attention since he left rbrNever rated him, at least not on a level of a Lewis or a Fernando, not even when he was at RBR.
He just makes to many silly errors in situation he shouldn't add Ferrari pressure and you get the Sebastian from the last few years car is good enough last few seasons
There's no denying he's not learnt much from the last two seasons about calming down and dealing with pressure. Especially when that pressure has been increased by a talented young team mate who's been faster in both the opening two races.
Ferrari must be fuming at a second Merc 1-2 with the advantage they appeared to show during testing. The last thing you need is your "lead" driver spinning out on his own like an F3 rookie. He should be using his experience to bag solid points and letting the new guy find his feet. Feels like the other way around at the moment.
Having said that, the Ferrari is quick and this is only the second race, so hopefully this one could got down to the wire. It's just not clear which Ferrari will be in the main challenger.
