That is Lapo Elkann
"Lapo Elkann was arrested and then released by New York police after allegedly faking his own kidnapping in an attempt to get $10,000 from his family, American media reported on Tuesday, citing police sources. The Agnelli family heir reportedly faked the kidnapping after running out of cash during a two-day binge of drugs and alcohol with a transgender escort. In 2005 Elkann was taken to hospital due to an overdose, after reportedly taking a potentially lethal cocktail of heroin, cocaine and alcohol at the Turin home of a transvestite.". Just a couple of highlights from a long list of "adventures" he's had.

Yeah, he has issues. He was sexually abused as a child, which has no doubt led to him going off to rails at a young age. He also had ten years of sobriety before that New York incident. And I hope he doesn’t slip again.
Dude runs two well respected companies, a glasses brand and a car customisation company, that why he will no doubt get ahead with his wealth and family connections, he doesn’t want to just be part of the traditional Agnelli machine but rather his own man.
By Spengo Go To PostI didn't realize Stoffel joined de Vries at Mercedes. Good for them.Stoffel was already driving for them, I mean HWA is more or less mercedes (non)works-team (dtm for example) and Pfaffet was getting to old (not fast enough).
Good seat for Nyck, as F1 was never going to happen (no seat and not able to manage tires) and FE is definetely on the up, with most major manufacturers already involved.
Porsche often picks oiut of their own driver pool, so my money is on Lotterer and maybe Neel Jani as 2nd. (LeMans hybrid expierence)
But Andre looks lock with his FE expierence as well.

stunning that you can make so many silly errors and still get a seat in F1, Hulk must have been to expensive for them, otherwise does not make sense.
Wow. Grosjean must feel like he won the lottery.
Hulk would be a good choice for Williams but for the fact they need a pay driver.

We are in the streets of Singapore at night this weekend for the 15th race of the season. Championships are, unless something really mad happens, more or less done, but I doubt that will hinder the quality of racing. Since France it has been a fun ride/battle and after two power tracks we need downforce again, so money on Merc/Lewis and RBR/Max as there main challenger. Ferrari is bringing some updates to nose/floor so maybe they did found some extra downforce that they so far have been lacking.
Midfield hard to call as always, but McLaren (Alfa) went surprisingly well in other high downforce races, so time for McLaren to get one back on Renault.
Race is mostly a procession, so do not forget to tune in for the qualifying on Saturday. Talking about time, FP session tomorrow start 30 minutes earlier than in normal weekends.
Track:
Last Year:
FP1 - Ricciardo - 1.39.711
FP2 - Raikkonen - 1.38.699
FP3 - Vettel - 1.38.054
Qualify - Hamilton - 1.36.015
Race - Hamilton - 1u51min11.611
Fastest Lap - Magnussen - 1.41.905
Tire selection:
And some non shocking news from Williams, understand he tried, but would have rather remembered him by his previous years in F1.

This is going to be an interesting one provided nothing stupid happens at the start.
Needless to say now but Grosjean is perfect for Formula E. Crash heaven.

FP1:
Timing, so don't read to much in it as always, but a lot was happening. Ferrari with back to back test of new frontwing/floor, Leclerc with, what sounded like gearbox, problem. Mercedes 2nd run on hards, Bottas parking it in the wall, was coming from few corners before (over driving/sliding rear on old hards). Lewis with a feud with Carlos, getting annoyed and paid it back. And midfield looks like Hulk was on a mission and McLaren not to far away, but Bottas red messed up a few laps.

FP2:
Max ran in to a lot of traffic S3, so think he would have been just quicker than Lewis. Ferrari messed up 1st runs and best of tires was gone when they did their laps, but late on track so more rubbered-in. (track evolution), but feel that they loose to much in S2/S3 to be competitive this weekend. Long runs Lewis in a class of his own 6/7 tenths quicker than Max, who was few tenths up on the Ferrari's (reds). Not as important as normally, as track position is key, unless pace(mega)/strategies are different.
Midfield looked like Ren/McLaren were pretty close, difference in long-runs was bit bigger, but so was tire wear (Ren faster, McLaren later on faster).
Albon hit the wall (locked-up) and cost him front-wing and Perez and Kevin were playing stupid at the start of a quick lap

Ferrari found mega time in S2 overnight and with powermodes (S1) they, at least Charles, fight with Lewis who did not get clean (spin pits ou and extra lap traffic) . Still feel Ferrari is just behind, but nothing like last year or on other downforce tracks. Max had a messy session, but car also did not look as planted/stable as yesterday add some traffic and you are a second behind (do feel that they will be able to correct that)
Midfield McLaren keeps their good weekend run going and looks like team to beat. Perez had hard hit wall, might cost him (gearbox penalty?)
Lewis oopsy:

Interesting session. Will be interesting to see where Ferrari actualy are.
Vettel really needs to get ahead of Charles. I know Charles has the form, but Vettel can't be getting out qualified at a track he has numerous poles and wins at.

Ferrari closer as expected, RBR probably go back with their set-up so they will be there or there about, but still feel it is Lewis his pole to lose.
Vettel did beat Kimi/Webber, that's different class to Charles, but agree he needs good result.
Lets see if George can get out of Q1, would be another statement "of I deserve better car" from him.

LEC says fuck your sandbags, Mercedes.
By markao Go To Postlando !Norris adapting extremely well compared to Albon: neither of them having driven here before in lower formulae
If Ferrari can keep their S1 advantage, they might have a shot at pole, Lewis/Max loose 4 tenths in S1 .
Both McLaren and Renault boys through to Q3

By markao Go To PostJust go out 1st and park it somewere GERMAN style
hahahaha
Mega lap by Charles, to tip Seb and maybe even better by Lewis after messed up 1st to put it on front row next to Charles. poor Seb almost and RBR cannot get to last year times.
Mega job by Ferrari, to find enough front end to be competitive here !
Shame Lando could not compete Q2 lap, but his teammate picks-up best of the rest.
Full session:
Race should be fun, as Merc race pace looked faster, but overtaking is almost impossible here. Would be nice if Vettel can get Lewis after turn 5, long straight with their magical 1st lap out straight line speed, would be great for Ferrari to have that buffer.
Charles radio:
Just switch to footy, is that ManCity score correct rolf

Hahaha, I did the same. 3-0 in 12 minutes.
Will be interesting to see what tyres the second stint will be on. Mercedes were miles aherad of Ferrari on the softs, but they said Mercedes only had two mediums and already used them. I don;t think Ferrari ior Mercedes used the hard in pra ctice.
I think merc used them on Friday, FP1.
But it all comes down to the start, or (un)lucky V/SC and Charles should just look at Sebs from last year. No need to do something silly in the first few corners, just correct an error, if it happens, after turn 5.
If you can keep them behind you in Monza, it should not be to hard on a street track.

Reports about teams questioning each other power-units gains have become more and more frequent past few weeks and now this, coincidental or is there more to it?
By markao Go To PostReports about teams questioning each other power-units gains have become more and more frequent past few weeks and now this, coincidental or is there more to it?Well that would explain a few things. Every team is trying to find the limit so it wouldn't be surprising if they found something illegal.

This is going to be Monza 2.0
I am probably going to buy Alfa Romeo merch at some point. I have a feeling they won't be around forever.

This should be a cracker. Will be interesting to see if Charles can handle the pressure on this track. One smack into the wall and that is that.
By markao Go To PostClean start here ? nah and hopefully a weird timed SC to spice things up, so it isnt a procession.
I will take a nice procession.
