Today it was his turn to receive the chequered flag. A little too soon. He will be dearly missed.
The series is being very generous to the guy who was generous with his time to them.
By Linius Go To PostProduction value on that Netflix show is pretty great. But it's pretty clear that a couple of drivers were more into it than others. Or the producers were more into a couple of drivers. I didn't expect a Max Verstappen show but it baffles me how they even made the Austrian GP about Danny Ric. They mostly seem to point out the negative things from Max his season on top of that as well. And too bad Ferrari and Mercedes didn't want anything to do with it at all. Would have been interesting to have guys like Arrivebene and Wolff in front of the cameras too. I did like how they portrayed Horner and Abiteboul though.I agree. The production was great, but it really did portray Max as one to be hated for "being the chosen one". Of course he might've had his preferences, but it's kinda sad they've neglected his fantastic second half of the championship.

Really strange to see pictures of him fit and happy in the paddock yesterday and than the news of today.
Not always agreed with his decisions, but the man was part of the sport as long as I can remember.
rip Charlie

Don't take anything for granted. At least he got to spend his last day with his friends doing what he loved.
In 2 Hours time new season starts, first race as always Melbourne Park

Couldn't resist watching 1st FP session and I know not meaningful at all, but wouldn't it be nice few tenths between the top 3 teams. ;)
And already faster than last years FP1 session, although hard to compare compounds, but not softer.
Albon, you really should not do that as a rookie
And Bottas misjudging width of track:

Must be tough on the rookies going from fighting for podiums to scraping for points. Leclerc is really lucky he got a seat at Ferrari.
Started watching the Netflix show and five minutes in Will Buxton says "A lot of people say this year [2018] is make or break for Ricciardo to win the World Championship". Load of nonsense.
The fact that he didn’t get a seat at Mercedes or Ferrari probably means he’ll never be world champion. The gap between those 2 teams and everyone else is just far too big.
FP3
Between Merc/Fer, RBR slightly different program, but they will be more bothered by Haas than the top 2 by the looks of it. Midfield close, Williams tragic.

By Lunatic Go To PostFuck bottas is rapid.Lewis compromised first corner, but he needs a good one
By markao Go To PostLewis compromised first corner, but he needs a good oneYea he had been complaining of front end grip.
FOM and their shit timing
but LEWIIIIIIIIIIIIS
And Max splitting the Ferraris
that wintertesting ;) although did call Haas for 4th best ;)
Good job, Nando! I mean, Lando.
The midfield battle is probably going to be more interesting than the top 3. Lets pray for Haas.
They briefly touch upon the Netflix series which is amusing.

Coffee ready,
let's hope the bigger rearwing/drs extra speed difference will help, so we have at least some action.in Melnourne this year.

By Spengo Go To PostPress F for Ricciardothat was stupid.
Charles also had to avoid Vettel who was defending against Max.
By Lunatic Go To PostYou guys think the Ferrari unit can't handle the higher temps?doubt it, would guess it more be Mercedes being better now they are not on a very cold track, it is called wintertesting for a reason and its Melbourne, their car is always extremely impressive here.
14 laps in Magnussen 25 secs behind :(

Unless tires

Merc just to fast and surprisingly its Valteri dominating, is he drumk or something.
Stunning race by Bottas, Max maximise his rbr pace, Honda podium how long ago was the last????
Almost 1 minute for ferari
Midfiield still to slow but at least close, so that will bring some exitement on other tracks

By Vini.lad Go To PostWhy didnt Ferrari stop Leclerc for the 1 point bonus FL? They are so fucking stupidTeams are always afraid of extra stops for all the things that can go wrong with stop/engine after stop. Bottas also could have had a free stop and Mercedes also decided not to do that, for the same reason.

Leclerc had a +30s gap, the extra point was worth the risk for sure. F1 cars don't stall anymore. And by pitting him, you dont embarrass yourself asking Leclerc to dont fight Vettel as a bonus.
For Bottas gap was smaller and way riskier

By Spengo Go To PostGasly could not get past Kvyat for 17 laps apparently.Danilil also had DRS, so not that easy to overtake and first race you do not want to crash, so forgive him for this race.
Valteri also had a gap big enough, but you just do not want to risk it. In case of Mercedes, Toto just told RTL+ that they told drivers in the briefing this morning not to go for a fast lap, drivers did not listen.
Full results.

Mercedes uncover Lewis Hamilton car damage after Australian GP
Hamilton was spotted inspecting his car immediately after the race and Mercedes later reported: "We have discovered damage to Lewis' floor in the area just in front of the left-rear tyre. There is a chunk of the floor missing, but we are not 100 per cent sure why yet."
