Plus as good as the ping system is, it's not much use when the place is so rife with enemies that you have to keep track of two or more other squads
I've taken to landing in the row of 4 buildings in the cavern at the northwest of the map. Quiet, large enough buildings to get at least three weapons, and a good view of the zone below it to move into if you want to carry on looting. Respawn point nearby as well I think.
If I see two squads landing where I was planning to, I just fucking dip and go elsewhere. Too much RNG at play on whether you'll pick up a worthwhile gun to even put up a fight in that kind of situation. And i ain't trying to fight off two squads with a fucking Mozambique.

i've landed on the plane at opening round and ended up with nothing but a high level purple hop up and a few bullets in my ass for my trouble.
just better to get your team to a place with a level 1 armor and some decent kit and start moving
In something like pubg dropping hot works (now anyway) because you can go extremely long stretches without combat OR loot so it makes sense to just try to get that out of the way as soon as possible.
Pacing in Apex pushes you to pretty much always be moving in a specific direction or hunting combat. Drop somewhere big and decent odds are you're still gonna fight on the way out with a fight or two every circle until the end.

Just had a great win with some randoms where we were knocked several times over the course of the game but worked well to cover and get each other back up. And at end game when a fight turned into a three squad free for all, instead of getting fish eyes we took advantage of the chaos and retreated mid fight for superior positioning based completely off pings. Really satisfying win.

I feel like his hitbox must be much bigger in size because, boy oh boy, in high noon situations I basically always draw short. No matter if ADS and trigger the shield or not.

Just got carried to a win by killer and a random, with 5 and 15 kills respectively. I got none, spent two thirds of the match running in the gas and desperately looking for syringes

randoms doing hot drops is really really bad right now. Kinda fucking the game up. Every server is half empty before first circle even collapses. You land somewhere decent and you'll fight one squad before its down to 3 squads.
