So I'm doing a work about Oreo in Europe. Any info/detail/fun fact would be well received.
Is it more for kids in Europe? do people eat them regularly? In what moments (for breakfast/at the office/etc)?
do british people eat it while drinking tea?
Thanks lads

By FortuneFaded Go To PostIt’s considered inferior to our biscuits. Hobnob till I die.Hobnobs look like shit m8
(not that Oreos look any better ofc)
By s y Go To PostOver here in Romania we usually have them with milk as a snack. When available.sy stop trolling me m8
By Doncicic Go To PostThey are quite new (5 years-ish) pretry niche and only available in big stores.Do you like them tho?
Who buys them? rich people/middle class/low? kids? rapists? otakus?
I don't think have a real target demographic, but certainly not huge over here either as someone mentioned they are significantly inferior/heavily preferred other brands of biscuit.
Do I like them? Yeah sure, there ok. If we're really breaking this down, think the overall biscuit is maybe too firm. Think they would be elevated if they had bourbon level of density, maybe a little too sweet as well, should let the chocolate come through more. But other than that perfectly servicable.
I buy them maybe four five timea a year probably in my monthly shop.

yeah they're fine.
i'd say young adults.
what's a low or middle class? huehuehuehue
otakus love them.
Oreos had a big moment here a few years ago (5ish), you can usually get them pretty cheap in a supermarket but I wouldn't say they are particularly popular. Hobnobs and bourbon creams for life.
By Pac-12 Go To PostCalling cookies biscuits. How do you differentiate cookies from cookies then?
Europe was a mistake.
By Hitch Go To PostHow do you differentiate cookies from cookies then?Do you really need to? Cookies are actually tasty whereas biscuits are only suitable to be fed to the dogs.
By Hitch Go To PostYou've never had a hobnob, a custard cream or a jammy dodgerLies
Not particularly popular over here. In fact, I think I've come across more Oreo-based spin-offs, like Oreo icecream at McD, Oreo cake and such, than the actual cookies biscuits pastry itself. So, yeah, people know of them, some have tried them, but they're not widespread.
Same goes for Italy, as far as I know. Ringo is much more popular over there.

The most popular chocolate brand in the UK Cadburys was taken over by Kraft (who make Oreos) a few years ago and since then it feels like they have really tried to push Oreos over here doing crossover chocolate bars and selling them in Cadburys selection boxes. I don't think they are particularly popular though. We have been bought up on bourbons, custard creams and jammie dodgers which are better.

Yeah it does amaze me how many fastfood chains have some sort of licence for the Oreo name to put it in everything from sundaes and milkshakes till other chocolate brands with an oreo flavoured option. When I was in Spain six months back I could have an Orea sundae at MCDonald's, the Oreo milkshake at KFC and some other Orea icecream at Burgerking.
Not in the EU, but they’re vegan so my brother in law eats them and we do to when they visit. Coconut milk ice cream and Oreos is pretty decent
Regular Oreos are shite, too sweet and the biscuit is too crunchy.
Oreo thins are next level though. Still sweet, but the thinner and lighter biscuit is an improvement. Only really good for dunking in milk, so they’re not as good or as versatile as bourbons or custard creams which go well with tea or milk.

By SUPER YARAK Go To PostCustard creams 😫👌The GOAT biscuit.
I made a cheesecake a few years ago with them as the base and I’ve been obese ever since.
Jaffe cakes make that statement about custard creams incorrect but amazing biscuits all the same.
Jammy Dodgers are really over rated.
Chocolate digestives another sleeper.

They’re not biscuits.
the ice cream is actually way more popular than the cookies. they introduced it last summer and it was everywhere. the cookies are burried under thousands of local brands.

But they share alot more in common with biscuits than cakes. You find them in the biscuit section, the accompany biscuit like things, they're biscuits man

This is the UK where man's voted to destroy the country because there's too many foreigners. Can't trust them to put a cake in the cake section meight.
Kidjr this argument was genuinely settled in a court cause.
VAT is not charged on plain biscuits or cakes as they are seen as essential items in the UK. But when a biscuit is covered in chocolate it becomes a luxury item and standard rate VAT is added to the price. Chocolate cakes on the other hand are still considered essential items (unlike tampons which are a luxury).
Her Majesty's Revenue took Jaffa Cakes to court because they argued it had more in common with a biscuit than a cake so should pay the tax. Jaffa Cakes won the case on the grounds that the ingredients are more cakey and they harden when they go stale.

By Laboured Go To PostThat tampon point still absolutely blows my mind. What a thoroughly fucking awful country.
It is fucking shit isn't it?
It's the sort of thing you'd hear about Saudi Arabia doing and you'd aloof-ly shake your head at the immorality and inequality of it.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostSo you British lads voted for Brexit just to stop immigrants from eating your essential biscuits? How did you vote m8?
