Is overwatch still popular? I don't play it because it's trash but it seems like blizzard kinda wasted the momentum it had at the height of it's popularity. You'd have think they'd be updating the game all the time like Epic and Fortnite

Played Apex and wasn't feeling it. The map looks like generic trash. I also don't like how short the clip is on the guns and the time to kill.

I barely feel the urge to play Overwatch. The update cycle feels long af, between major content updates. They outright stopped doing anything for events, unlike every other shooter on Earth. A lot of the updates feels like it's for Overwatch league, instead of the actual game. Their balance ideology feels questionable...
But yea, the main thing is a lack of content for everyone else not in the damn league.

I play Overwatch at times but I'm never going into competitive again. It's the same meta that was already mediocre a few years back.
i bought it at launch, played for a few days then left, cant deal with there being nothing to do but just grind for competitive or spend $100 on loot boxes to maybe get a skin you want

If you're really curious seagull (one of the biggest OW players/streamers...this particular video has got 2mill views) did a twenty minute video talking about this kinda stuff.
Gist of it being the game isn't fun...consistently enough. Comp is brutal, metas aren't fun and end up lasting way too long. ULTs are too powerful/game changing. Too many hard counters and rock paper scissors style back and forth. This video is 2 months old and still mostly relevant.

Yeah I've seen that, and I agree. They really need their own Icefrog handling the balance.
I'm still not sure why they havent done any significant changes to Reinhardt considering how dull he's making the meta in competitive and casual.

Genuinely the only thing I enjoy more about current Overwatch than launch Overwatch is Hammond

Only Zarya can cleanse
Only Lucio can increase speed(Brigitte's ult does but it's barely a thing)
Up until the rework, only Torbjorn could hand out armor
Only Sombra can silence
Only Ana can stop healing
Only Zen can increase enemy damage taken
but then you've got like... Soldier 76, Mcree, and buffed Hanzo who all feel mostly the same role with tiny differences. AND THEN THEY ADD ASHE WHO BASICALLY DOES THE SAME THING

Aesthetic, artstyle, design are all part and parcel of a game's "charm". Pubg and fortnite both have BR but aesthetically look nothing alike.

You need long ttk in these type of games imo--otherwise you get camp fest trash like PUBG. Having the ability to escape and let encounters come down to tactics and gun skill >>>> first shot wins gameplay.
