By data Go To PostEpic game sales also comes with a 10 dollar off coupon on top of the sales right now. So like Borderlands 3 is $29, Control is $20, etcControl is pretty much still full price on the UK store. Fucking in the bin
By inky Go To PostDidn't Epic promise "no sales because it devalues games"? LOL They turned around quickly on that one. Star Wars is like $10 over here.reilo can't update slaent and the epic store at the same time m8
Also, still no fucking cart, what the fuck have they been doing for a year?
So MS is supposed to take a loss on hardware and on gamepass?
Evil corporation just trying to buy my time. No thanks. Thank god they will be out of the business in six to seven years.
Evil evil evil, so evil.

Xbox and PS4 only respectively had 1.31 tflops and 1.84 tflops? And Jag CPUs?
What a shit show this gen has been hardware wise.
Praise be to Lord Phil Spencer for course correcting this shyt

But as time goes on, they won't be handing out those big Game Pass checks as much. That's why they've been investing so much in buying/founding new studios, so they don't have to cut Capcom a $20m check to put DMC5 on game pass. In a few years, the content will largely be from Microsoft itself and they'll eat the hardware losses to get people into the system.
Low barrier to entry, buy dlc/mtx. Like, Halo 5 sold well, but it was more profitable than any other Halo because of the req packs.

it's going to be even harder with games.

Just waiting for the right price. Going to put the £5 I saved towards a full price AAA game.
By /sy Go To Postsounds like the netflix plan….and netflix is still trying to make it work and still has to cough up hundreds of millions of dollars to get licensed shows on it's service because most of their original stuff isn't good. The difference is Microsoft already has a back catalog of three generations of Xbox games to put on the service and popular series to rely on like Halo, Age of Empires, Forza Horizon, Fable. They'll become less reliant on those third-party deals going forward as their other studios start to make games that properly supplement the subscription.
it's going to be even harder with games.
they can do that
but no one will buy an xbox plus a subscription if the new games on gamepass are only halo 27 and forza 68

I've spent more time adding free games to my EGS account than I have playing all my EGS games, total.
Granted, it's basically just those free games + Fortnite + Dauntless, but still!

Much like you and 2018's GOTY, I'm not buying it m8
By Not Go To PostThat Netflix check is for realThey probably don't get much from Netflix if anything at all. The show (which airs tomorrow) is based on the books and not the games.
GOG barely makes any money. It's all on the GOTG: TW3 and 35m copies sold for the series.
They also get money and tax breaks from the government.

I don't know why this keeps being allowed to happen.
Glad to find out today that I'm not one of the shitters that feels sick after 45 minutes of smooth locomotion in VR games. Knew I was cut from the truest of Gamer cloth. Already nearly smashed my mirrored wardrobe doors playing Gorn.

Turns out Henry Cavill is part of the True Gamer breed and is almost as good looking as me.

I know that because Netflix exists, everybody thinks it's so obvious "oh just like Netflix", but that shit ain't how it works. There's no way to produce game content at the rate Netflix does with TV shows and Movies etc.
It's also relevant to understand that Netflix was a disruptive voice, an unexpected one that threw the industry on its head. MS isn't a disruptive voice and to boot they are just copying a model that everyone already knows exists which means they won't be able to do what Netflix did.
They will keep overspending like always, and other companies will end up cashing in on the relevant ideas. Like paid online and first person shooters on a console, thanks MS I can't wait for the next garbage contribution.

if we're talking solely owned games, a Ubisoft streaming service would beat out Xbox.
AC is bigger than Halo
Rainbow 6 is bigger than Gears
Far Cry is bigger than Forza
plus all the other IPs they have that sell boatloads. Plus they're ridiculously efficient AAA pipeline.
I don't know the exact number but I wouldn't be surprised if they have more devs than all of the studios MS recently purchased and a bigger backlog of titles.
I don't see a future where Gamepass is the "netflix of game streaming" without MS paying out the ass for non XGS games.

I think the play would be to just push two big games a year, load them up with micro transactions and support them long term. Fill out the rest of the library/year with good titles from yesteryear and newer indie titles just to hook people into the “”VALUE PROPOSITION””.
On top of that, add worthwhile subscription tiers. Gamepass solo, Gamepass family (one sub for multiple accounts, would be super useful tbh), Game Pass X (Game pass + xcloud), and so on.

Netflix happened because studios didn't see it coming. But Netflix already happened, and now copy cat services aren't new, they are just the same model. The whole industry is in on it, and gamepass won't have the breathing room that Netflix had.
