They strive to emulate it because they took over as stewards of the series and have been met with nothing but backlash at their attempts to push Halo forward. Sprint, kill cams, kill streaks, spartan abilities, squad mechanics. Their ideas for Halo aren't Halo.
I want a Halo game that strives to be an influencer on the genre moving forward ala RE4 and Halo:CE, not just 343's best attempt at "finally nailing" their emulation of Bungie era Halo
I think Infinite needs to focus on lowering the barrier for people. H5 is too complicated. There's too much going on on the controller with all the extra abilities. Scale it back, focus on the core shooting (and the fact that you always need to be able to shoot because fuck clamber forever).

Which titles are those? Because CS:GO is an argument of trying to bring back the E-sports scene to MCC and make sure it continues to stay relevant. It's not an argument to make yet another title in the series that plays virtually exactly like some of the older core titles.
