The terribly animated Pokemon I saw was Grimmsnarl in this Twitch stream

By Kawhic Go To Postthey don't own pokemon like sony owns GoW. TPC is a biiiitch to deal with. They don't need to own anything in such a mutually beneficial relationship. In what world is Nintendo better for not ensuring and catering to Pokemon's success?
By DY_nasty Go To PostThey don't need to own anything in such a mutually beneficial relationship. In what world is Nintendo better for not ensuring and catering to Pokemon's success?well the IP is doing very well so they probably see no reason to get involved. maybe they would do something if the sales go down. who knows, hasn't happened so far.
there's no reason to upset them, they can just take more and more business to the mobile market.
Nintendo might not control gamefreak, but they got a controlling share of the pokemon company and the rights to the Pokemon IP... So they are obviously in a position of power here.
By Wahabipapangus Go To Postbut they got a controlling share of the pokemon company.source?
Maybe they would in the future. As it stands Gamefreak has been hitting it out of the park with its Pokemon games for a while now on game sales, and the IP is still profitable after 2 decades.

I seemed to remember controlling share. But apparently not clear. But they do have enough ownership to do more control..
https://toucharcade.com/2016/07/28/who-owns-pokemon-anyway-its-complicated/
It goes in depth but the conclusion:
Anyway, the point is, Nintendo virtually has to have a bigger piece than anyone here. It’s very possible that their share adds up to the same or more than the other two put together. They also have a small ownership in one of the other two companies involved. Finally, they are the sole owner of all of the relevant trademarks, including names and logos. So while The Pokemon Company apparently operates more or less autonomously, and Nintendo isn’t the sole owner of the brand, they are almost certainly the majority owner of Pokemon, and likely by quite a significant margin. That’s probably not enough to double the value of the company on the stock market, but it’s clear that Nintendo benefits big from any Pokemon success, and Pokemon Go isn’t likely to be an exception.
this is just speculation. remember when GO was blowing and up and investor overvalued nintendo stock until they found out they barely make any money from it?
By Kawhic Go To Postthis is just speculation. remember when GO was blowing and up and investor overvalued nintendo stock until they found out they barely make any money from it?
Nintendo was always up front about that though. Unlike how much of Creatures Inc they own.
(btw, 10 to 19% cut of revenues of a game like GO isnt barely any money, although obviously not nearly as much as people buying shares thought)
maybe its time for gamefreak to realize they cant do this with 100 people alone, time to start outsourcing to monolith and namco like nintendo's been doing for most of their games
By Wahabipapangus Go To Postthe effect kind of goes off this, when you cant see what group they are in
the fact the image has been cropped to conceal that there's 16 other pages of people not playing MW2 is the cherry on top. Dumb image made dumber.

Far from the complete hands off that you're implying

Pokémon GO has better animations.

I said they are completely hands off when it comes to the development of the core games which is true.

By LFMartins86 Go To PostKingdom Hearts All In One Package is 36€ on PSN. Tempted…Be aware that you'd be paying for 1.5* good games.
*Kh2 has to be played on critical difficulty.
By /sy Go To PostWas this Pokemon intended for 3ds then ported to switch?
By /sy Go To Post30 hours into Death Stranding, Kojima might actually be a genius.story-wise or gameplay-wise?
By Flutter Go To Poststory-wise or gameplay-wise?Gameplay.
Some of the cutscenes are well directed but the dialogue is just awful
By /sy Go To PostGameplay.Yeah, always enjoyed the gameplay mechanics in his games.

The dialogue? Of course. He has insisted in a direct translation of his scripts since MGS2, which is why MGS remains his best overall work. I dont doubt Kojima isn't a genius, but being one doesn't mean that he cant use someone to vet some of his terrible ideas.
By HoboVapes Go To PostGrown adults care this much about Pokemon’s graphics?well the issue is not the graphics, it's the pop-in, the shithouse framerate in open areas and how empty the world/cities is and the lolworthy attack animations
it looks like a barebones 3ds pokémon in HD
By HoboVapes Go To PostGrown adults care this much about Pokemon’s graphics?Yes? It’s not just kids who play Pokémon. Why wouldn’t they care as like they care with other games that release in questionable states.

the pokeyman games on handheld have always looked nice to me.
I dunno, watching streams, most of the time it looks good.
Just that the quality is pretty inconsistent in some areas. The draw distance isnt as bad as that video I saw but boy... the overworld textures really is mediocre.

By rvy Go To Postthe pokeyman games on handheld have always looked nice to me.Yeah, I think they've always had good art direction. The GBA games look still great, especially FireRed and LeafGreen, which are kinda the peak of that pixel art style to me.
i think pokemon just hit the problem where you cant really have yearly games with the effort hd gaming needs. look at how even ubisoft has decided to let ass creed take a break, or how CoD is actually different studios working for a couple years on different games
I've had pokemon fatigue for like 10 years. Last game I really enjoy was Sapphire.
I finished up the rerelease of Crash 2 this week. It was the first game that my mom got me alongside my PS1. I remember enjoying the game a lot at the time, and even though I had already played Mario 64, something about the game really drew me in. Also remember not having a memory card for the first few weeks, lol. The game still holds up, but some aspects of the game are incredibly dated (plenty of cheap deaths). Truly the peak of that series, Crash 3 just feels like a smorgasbord of half baked ideas.

Pokemon on the other hand is the largest pop culture brand in the world... Sword/Shield will still sell absurd amounts and make everyone involved a lot of money. I don't see them changing anything because they have no reason to.
