thanks. he should've played that but the menu does makes it sound like a new game+ kind of deal.

I can't believe there are people who never played RE2 a.k.a. I'm old. I pretty much played/own every canonical RE game except RE6 (it sucks and I haven't gotten around to it because I didn't know if I should but it on PS3 or PS4 Pro, which I only bought in September) RE7 (I play them in order) and RER2 (want the physical disk version that has all downloaded episodes).

There is a screen that pops up when you complete the first campaign, Nier Automata style, that explicitly states what the 2nd run is. Then the main menu tells you again.
It's a dumb thing to be in an uproar about (for sure), but IGN has been messing up, apparently. Man needs to hold his L.
As an aside, I never understood how games journalists got a pass for not actually doing due diligence and checking out every feature and menu option.

I've seen it. It says "some things and the ending are different" which makes it sound like a remix of the first playthrough. I would have never even started that if this didn't happen.
He did appologize and should just put a disclaimer on top and edit after playing. No biggie.

My introduction to RE was Code Veronica on Dreamcast. I kind of enjoyed it, but not enough to develop a genuine affection for the series. Even back then the tank controls felt like something out of 1992. RE4 on gamecube was a proper game changer for me and it quickly became one of my favourite games. REmake (still on GC) was a revelation. It looked amazing for the time and with the alternative control method it finally felt right to me. Still, as someone who usually doesn't bother with more than one sequel in a series ... that was kinda it for me. Until RE5, which is played (and liked well enough) years later, mostly because my breh wanted to coop it. And then RE7, in primis for the hype surrounding. Absolutely loved it, but fuck that last part. And finally RE0 (and RE1make again) in preparation for RE2.
I don't feel like I've missed out on anything not playing the rest.

Never properly played REmake. I have it, tried it for a few minutes or so and stopped. Probably one day.
Grew up playing RE1, RE2, RE4 and RE5. PS1 went kaput before I managed to play RE3. Tried the RE6 demo a few years back and got disheartened that they're continuing with the horrible storyline and didn't bother buying it.

Got introduced to the series via RE2. As a child, that was the most amazing shit ever. Assault on Precinct 13, with zombies.
RE3 is a damn classic. As an obstacle, Nemesis still hasn't been topped. Stand your ground and get items for stopping him, temporarily, or pray that he doesn't show up and hit you with a rocket. Gonna be gdlk if it gets remade.
Minus a light gun game or two, I've played most, if not all of the rest of them.
Tank controls sucked, even back then. I never bought the argument that they made the games scary. PC horror games existed. Lol

Yeah, apart from one or two jump scares, there's nothing really scary about the RE series until RE7.
By FootbalIFan Go To PostWhere does it say thatI was being facetious, but 2160p with 16x supersampling.
Supersampling is AA via running the game at a higher internal resolution, so 3840x2160p multiplied by 16. Which is an absurd amount of pixels, beyond what’s reasonable for any modern hardware.

I meant just in terms of control scheme, but, in hindsight, you're right. What's scary is subjective, but RE7 VR is so beyond anything else in the series. Then there is REmake and that's about it.

Resident Evil Outbreak was also great, such a shame that online was pretty garbage on PS2 and I only played alone. Could have been a great experience.
Started with RE1 on the PS1 as it was my first PS1 game back in the day.
Had the normal game at first, but soon got the directors cut.
By Laboured Go To PostNot properly played RE3, RE6 and RE7. Will play RE3Make and might catch up with RE7 at some point.RE6 is trash. RE7 is pretty damn good until one point. Really scary at times, but lacks a bit of variety.
I wonder if they're going the same route in RE8 again or if they're moving away from VR support.
Some of you guys intro to the series are games that were garbage (RE6) or games where the series had already established itself (RE: CV or CVX). You had to been that time period to fully appreciate RE1/RE2 and the clones it inspired. People think RE4 changed the game? Go back to 1998 and see the flood of survival horror knockoffs that followed. Hell, games that were banking money in their own right switched to a more survival horror/RE2 style (*cough*Parasite Eve 2*cough*)
By Doncicic Go To PostRE4 is the only one worth playing and i say this as someone who hasn't played any other REs.Poor deluded fool...
By Laboured Go To PostOy Flutter, GMG just sent out my RE2 key.Yeah, same here. Just waiting until after work to start the preload
The Outbreak games had a bunch of great ideas. It's criminal that Capcom didn't do a remaster.
I never beat File 2. It didn't help that I didn't have the device to connect our PS2 to the internet, so I was playing solo. Game felt oppressive af, even moreso than File 1.
Having a Hunter jump slash and break your shotgun, is a top 5 scary moment.

Yes, you have just voluntered. If you don't then Frankman will have to do it and I cannot trust that there would not be hentai all over the place.

Wasn't a Sony kid growing up. (Saturn and N64 for the MP ), so I never really fuked with RE. I remember going to friends house for RE1 and later RE2. That's how I experienced them, but they've been referenced so much that I know all about them, the big moments etc. Didn't really fuk with 3. The first one I really rocked with was Code Veronica on the legendary Sega Dreamcast. Didn't see what the big deal was with RE4 back when I actually liked Nintendo and had a GC. 5 and especially 6 looked too anime. 7 went too far brehs.
PS was trash for MP back in the day. Probably why I didn't own one for a while. Was all about GoldenEye, Perfect Dark, MK64, Turok Rage Wars, and Winback . Fucka SP game
Explains how I gravitated towards Xbox,.actually. For the MP. I remember PS fans thinking Socom really was with the shits, when it was actually trash.

Smokey had a Saturn? Always liked him. Incredible human bean.
When I bought mine, it came with 2 pads, the analogue pad, sega rally, panzer zwei and nights. What a Christmas that was.

Guardian Heroes on Sega Saturn might be the most I've played any one game. I don't even regret a minute of it.
I was heavy into Sega. I remember getting the analog controller with Nights . We were moving at the time. Was sitting in the uhaul with the controller in my hands the whole trip . Then made it a hotel and hooked up the Saturn with the RF Adapter and floated away into space with that controller and Nights
By Doncicic Go To Posti don't trust people that had Sega consoles growing up.Terrible post
Those are the most trustworthy of people
Still seems absolutely remarkable now that when MK1 first hit the Sega Mega Drive, you had to go into the shop, prove you were over 18, then they would give you the ABACAB gore cheat to enter.

Ayo flash backs to an old PS3 forum I used to frequent where the majority of the regulars took to Socom Confrontation, but spent everyday complaining about how broken it was.
I played it once or twice with them, told them it was shite. "You can't say that, you haven't played it enough to form an opinion!"

I used to get those display demo discs that were actual full games, free from a local store. When I got Soccom I was really excited.

First RE experience was with the first one on a friend's Saturn, eventually got it on the PS1. Loved RE2 but somehow never played RE3. Code Veronica X was probably the last Resident Evil I played to completion and I really liked it.
