I think it's in the Red Dead 2 category
There's a lot of truly great stuff about the game, badly let down by its controls and combat. Also while the hunts were very enjoyable, the structure of them was copy-paste as fuck.
Could never get the hang of using buff potions during fights, presumably much better with a keyboard and hotkeys in that aspect. Meant I basically locked myself out of a big part of the skill upgrade mechanics.
Always think it's a shame as a completionist when games like that don't reward you for trying to do everything beyond xp, I like it when you have to do everything of any substance to fully upgrade your character/gear.

speaking of putting things on easy:
i'm currently trying to finish God of War and my god is it a slog.
my friend told me i was close to being done but after an hour of play i looked it up and there are 4 more chapters to go. sheesh, so i had to put it on easy because otherwise i couldn't stomache the boring combat anymore.
it's a very well done game but whoever said the writing was good in this is a damn liar. it could've been an 8 if you cut about 5 hours and make it a tight package. depending on how long it drags it's a 7 or 6.5 for me.

I told people beforehand that GoW combat was RE5 tier
It really isn't much better overall than Tomb Raider to me. Without the mythology and nostalgia backdrop, it's a really dry experience. I also struggle to accept it's lack of memorable boss fights. The main villain is 100% anime but somehow the entire community decided it was breathtaking, never seen before action.

Yeah that fight was underwhelming as fuck having read the hype about it before playing it, I loved the combat against regular enemies though. Except for the Dark Elves. Dreadful enemies.
Wonder if the camera means we'll never get boss fights as good as the other GoWs

The dragon was okay I guess but compared to previous entries? Even the Odr Brodr Blindr bros was just... I guessssss
My brother's watching a list feature by some knobends called GamingBolt. Incudes Mass Effect 3 in their tacked on multiplayer section. Silly cunt, ME3 multiplayer was fucking great.
God of War gameplay > Dark Souls
Although yeah, the bosses (sans Valkyries) while spectacular to watch isn't as fun as fighting normal enemies

Any chance whatsoever of crossplay coming to Anthem or The Division 2? Obviously the dark zone would be fucked if it mixed console and kb+m players, but might not be an issue in PvE unless they're balanced for PC players. Would like to have a group to go through the incursions with in TD2, in the first one I was stuck with randoms by the time the first incursion came out and we never got anywhere.
Still regret dismantling my Caduceus, never got a weapon half as good even though its apparently one of the worst exotic weapons.

that's a no for me dawg. i played it on the highest available difficulty and the combat was so easy and boring. Tried to be souls without fully comitting to it so you end up with something that's neither here nor there. like i said i had to put it on easy just to get it over with.
i haven't even mentioned the RPG elements. that's the worst part of the game. but besides all my negative points it still could've been very good if they just made it a shorter game.
Anyway Doncicic does your offer still stands for your spare Xbox controller? Turns out pc accessories below 120usd wouldn't be taxed if bought from outside the country.

More realistic expectation would be cross-save
Re: GOW = GOTY easily. The possibilities moving forward are immense - apparently a lot of bosses didnt make the cut for some reason. I imagine thats what this was..
By Doncicic Go To Postwhat was the offer again?I'll pay the shipping. It's fine if you've changed your mind
I can not exaggerate my dislike for GoW and everything it did, but sadly it's becoming such a Sony template for all of their games. I wasn't a fan of the old god of wars or the genre has a whole, but thought it looked pretty promising with the new style of gameplay. But it all just felt boring to me. Tried at least 10 hours to get into it, and the only thing that is happening, is an increasing dislike towards that dumb kid.
I've given up on RDR2 for the time being. Gonna finish Ace Combat 7 in the next 2 days, sell it, and use the money for Resident Evil 2.
Pleased to tell you lads that I'll be playing it on my PC

This is pretty much why I’ve skipped the majority of PS4 exclusives. Shit’s been downhill since TLoU came out and got buckets of undue praise because the Gamers got to experience a fucked up sense of paternal instinct for the first and only time in their life.
Souls combat is as bland as it gets. Only a tier or two above Bethesda combat. That's why it's so easy to replicate
Done with RE1, ready for RE2.
In the meantime I started playing Subnautica, upon finding out that it's got quite a bit of lore / story, which I absolutely need in this kind of games to keep me going for more than a couple of hours. I've always been afraid of ocean depths, so this will either be therapeutic or it will end me.

Great developer. Natural Selection mod for HL was one of the GOAT multiplayer games of it's time, and it's paid sequel is still better than 80% of the CoD lite shyte that gets released today.

Maybe I should stream the sequel on one of the few good servers one day just to show people what it's like. I'm really bad at it cuz I haven't played it much, but it's still a fun game and remains one of the few games with the kind of gameplay style it uses.
i remember Natural Selection. i had no idea what it was but i played it a few times on my brother's pc. . my mom wasn't so happy lol. totally forgot about that game.

The souls games has a long range of problems, but the combat is pretty cool and good, even though sometimes terrible unbalanced where you can just exploit a thing or two. But certainly more interesting that GoW.
The 30fps I can see being a problem. I did not enjoy my time with Bloodbourne all that much due to terrible performance (and some ugly ass graphical choices), but the souls games are fine at 60fps on pc on that front.

Sure. But being a cinematic third person action game seems to be mandatory at this point. Bonus points for quick time events.

What is pretty cool and good about souls combat? The brain dead enemies and bosses? The limited moveset? The terrible hitboxes?
