How good is input detection for PC gamers in that regard? Surely they wouldn't let mouse users matchmake against controllers?

Why not? It’s not like any particular platform would have an advantage
Sony's best exclusive platformer turned 20 years old yesterday.
It's time for a remake or a next gen sequel, the world needs more...

Apparently new CoD will only cross play when you directly join up with friends on different platforms. Otherwise matchmaking will stick to your platform base.

What are the chances Halo Infinite ends up becoming just Halo, similar to God of War? I watched that E3 trailer again from last year, and it would make sense given the setup, overall vibe, and it launching with the next Xbox.

But I think they stick with the name because it's not a hard reboot and is finishing the story that they started with H4. Plus, people would go crazy if they tried to sell everyone on a reboot and it has sprint, etc.

My belief is they keep sprint and ditch everything else. Ground pound and spartan charge are obviously out since they even got rid of them in some H5 modes. The new multiplayer director has talked about not liking the thruster because it creates too big a skill gap. I think it's insanely tough to justify talking about classic Halo and "we're listening to fans" and then keeping the H5 iron sights.

I don't have any confidence in halo multiplayer ever being relevant again, but at least the direction of the campaign sounds cool

I think a reason why H5 faded, apart from the lack of the content, is how complicated it is to play. You cannot pick up and play H5 like you can with H2/H3. I knew people that after playing for some time didn't know you could sprint into a slide. The game certainly never tells you how to do it.
They really do need to pare back on the abilities. I like thrust, but I won't be heartbroken if it goes.

Halo was always been searching for that other extra thing in the sandbox to no avail. It wasn't dual wielding, it's wasn't equipment, it wasn't armor abilities. The spartan abilities are the closest they come because at least every player has access to them with no pickups, but there's just so much going on. Infinite just needs to keep it simple.
Dual wielding wasn't bad at all TBH
A lot of the the shit they tacked on just added no real value or made what was already good in the game tedious. Thrusters for example - the skill ceiling is already high. All that did was make fights longer for the good players and more oppressive for the bad. Abilities? Outright nullified much of what drew people in to begin with.

By DY_nasty Go To PostDual wielding wasn't bad at all TBHIt's this right here. A player that's good with the thrusters will decimate somebody that isn't as skilled. Two good players just end up having a longer engagement. I think it's totally fine if they looked at the data, looked at how people played their game and came to the conclusion that it helps to make the skill gap that much greater.

H5 is an actively uninviting game. How many people realize that if you're sprinting and press the button to melee, rather than melee, you'll go into a flown blown animation of your spartan doing this ridiculous shoulder tackle charge that just leaves you open for a quick kill if you don't nail the opponent head on? A skilled player is going to eat up people that go around the map doing that. So what purpose does it serve? Get rid of it.
I cannot play Halo 5 without an Elite controller. Whenever I go back to it and try and play without it for a quick game I literally have to think what does what. My muscle memory is tied to those 4 paddles.
They need to find a medium. Too casual was rodeos boy Halo 4. Too esports/competitive was Halo 5, although I personally like the H5 approach. Just dial it back a bit.

Halo gotta get better with their post release stuff too. They're too big and have too much experience to not be rolling stuff out better...
I really liked that first year of H5 content releases, but i don't usually play games longer than that.

Build off the good parts of the H5 design, the back to basics approach it took to arena, the emphasis on map control, creating an even playing field and make a game that's easier to pick up and play and more inviting.

I'd honestly prefer a clean slate, but I don't see them dropping sprint. I'd be willing to take that if it means they get grenade markers, iron sights and clamber out of Halo forever.
By s y Go To PostSaw that yesterday.
Even if some of those get delayed into the second half of the year, it's gonna be a wild ride.
If not for Sucker Punch making it, I'd have no interest in it whatsoever. And even then, Second Son was a big enough step back from Infamous 2 that I don't have much faith in them.
Speaking of, it's over 5 years since that came out. Like Naughty Dog, looking like a two-game generation for them unless you count Lost Legacy. Rockstar have only released one legit proper game, and I can't see GTA6 coming out at all until next gen.

It's gonna be like every Sucker Punch game. Really solid, and has it's fans, but it's going to have 2-3 things that keep it out of that top tier conversation that happens with these hyped games or it's going to be completely overshadowed by some even better games dropping close to it.

Suckerpunch doesn't even have half the size of Naughty Dog.
Also new IP and everything, so it's naturally longer than Naughty Dog doing sequels and spinoffs (not that they're slow either way, they're amazingly fast).
no idea what to make of ghosts. never touched infamous but they seem to have their shit together enough to make a leap to tentpole aaa unlike sony bend.
cyberpunk will be fine, first person shooting combat is way easier to make decent than third person melee. and if they even get to like 60% of deus ex it'll be amazing.

its easier to make first person shooters passable than third person games is all
don't think it'll be any good at all either. that trailer was the death stranding of gameplay decisions

Ghosts has a higher chance of being good considering Sucker Punch has made decent games in the past while CDPR has only pumped out awful gameplay and controls.

The 3 releases I'm most interested in this year are wow classic, halo mcc and modern warfare
I dont know if that says something about the industry or if I'm just a fucking boomer
