By Ciaran Ashina Go To Postapologies for the interruption guys but what the fuckkk is this trailer loooool
Okay Rage, okay…I've got time for you.
Gunna wait on reviews but I generally like what I've seen.
By JJJasper Go To PostSurprised they showed FF7. Figured the next time we saw anything it would be during the PS5 reveal.but its not coming out til PS5Ultra anyways

By data Go To PostI can never get into those action rpgs where you pick a blank slate and turn them into whatever you want. I like defined classes that are all visually different that you can structure within those restrictions. Champions of Norrath is still my favorite, even over Diablo.I get what you're saying, it's hard to play these super open ones without a guide. Always feels like you're gonna fuck up a build to me.
By toku Go To PostI get what you're saying, it's hard to play these super open ones without a guide. Always feels like you're gonna fuck up a build to me.I mean even ignoring that , I just like the aesthetics. Very different silhouettes, very different themes, you tend to lose most of that with the hybrid style heroes.
By DY_nasty Go To Postso jank ass animations and no cancelling :/why wouldn't you be able to cancel? even KH games have cancelling
seems like some of the staff is shared between them and this is an action rpg I guess

Very different silhouettes, very different themes, you tend to lose most of that with the hybrid style heroes. This kinda reminds me I wish there was more available in the genre. Did ARPG ever really have a saturation point? I feel like it's always just been Diablo and then one or two other super small different style games that were never as great or just hidden gems. I don't like the game but I'm happy for PoE's success. Hoping to get these Grim Dawn dlcs on sale before I hop into that again.
By reilo Go To Post#deodorantthis has now turned into an anti-Smash bros thread
I still can't believe that Sony touted Medievil for this show and then the trailer has the game running at like 10 fps.

By data Go To PostHow hacked is the ps1 classic? Like can I get one and play every ps1 game on it well now?Yes just need the right usb stick it gets tricky if you want to play 2 player though cause you need a usb splitter
By JJJasper Go To PostYes just need the right usb stickAny good guides?
By data Go To PostAny good guides? They are all over the internet. Just google autobleem or bleemsync PlayStation classic. The big thing is getting a good usb drive cause it only works on certain usb sticks. I got a SanDisk Cruzer Blade 64GB one for like 9 dollars and it works fibe
Apparently, ND staff are watching snuff films and real life killings to get TLOU2 violence more impactful.
FUCK ALL OF THESE DEVS
FUCK ALL OF THESE DEVS
How do you expect to animate for extremely graphic, gorey video games without looking at extremely graphic reference material?
I wonder if people know that special effect/makeup artists.....*gasp* look at disturbing/graphic images of dead or mutilated bodies in order to produce their very best work?
Shockingly, some directors look at videos of people getting shot if they're going for realistic looking violent scenes in their work.

FUCK ALL OF THESE DEVS
I think it is more the fact that nrs doesn't have any people or processes or structure in place to help those who are being negatively affected by the material they are working on.
By blackace Go To Postwere they ordered to watch snuff films?Don't know
my boss doesn't order to me to work late, but I know my 'dedication' will be brought to question during my quarterly review. You know that kind of culture, especially ND who are ritual partakers in crunch culture.
My point is that gratuity pay-off is absolutely not worth the metal exposure to fucked up shit.
Especially when there is a trove of fictional film material to pull from - who've already done most of that work.
obviously, there's a fundamental lack of understanding about how art/animation/visuals are created by some of the responses to this stuff.
The question that the article asks if getting PTSD over creating gore for MK11 is worth it and... no, absolutely not.
I appreciate the effort and dedication but in several years no one would even care about how intricate someone made those fatalities, and the PTSD could be a lifelong condition.

Final fantasy 7 doesn't look graphically impressive to me at all. Lots of low texture stuff and just general jank. Certainly not convinced that is looking better than ff15

I hate to agree with Psy as much as I do on this shit but this is common sense art shit. At some point, individual responsibility is a factor lol
By Bold 2 in One Go To PostDon't knowThat's not an equivalent at all. You draw anatomy you study anatomy. You cook you taste. You're not making violence simulators without studying violence

Yeah this. You don't know if you can handle it until you can't anymore. I heard similiar stories from people who work on other violent games all day everyday. After a while it gets to you, especially when you have to crunch and have no life outside looking at this stuff for the entire day. It's a real problem that we need to deal with, it's not getting better the more realistic it all becomes.
By s y Go To PostHow do you expect to animate for extremely graphic, gorey video games without looking at extremely graphic reference material?
Because you think you can handle it until you can't. It's that easy, it's not something you know about yourself before you went through it.

Some people got even first hand experience.
Tom Savini based injuries and other things on stuff he saw in Vietnam.
I'm really starting to believe that too many devs become devs simply because they like games and never even considered doing anything else. That's not even "I love my work" syndrome on display. This is sleeping through art class stuff.

Happens in a lot of these types of professions I expect.
By Jokicic Go To PostBecause you think you can handle it until you can't. It's that easy, it's not something you know about yourself before you went through it.That's the thing - animating violence comes with a shining disclaimer on top of it. You get surprised when you work at Facebook and end up pulling snuff instead of looking through questionable comments. This is like plumbers expecting to not see shit.
People know what they are going to do but it's different from actually doing it. Look up the suicide rate of vets. They love animals and thus want to become vetenarians. They are smart people who study for years to get their dream job and know what the job entails but when you end up killing animals all day everyday it just gets to you slowly over the years. Nothing can prepare you for the actual daily grind.
By MonadL Go To PostJudging by that TLOU2 demo, they're doing a bang up job. Shit was so brutal it had me on the fence about actually playing it.That demo feeling some type of way, it added nothing to the vibe, it was plenty violent as is.
The extra level of gore is just gratuitous to the point of perverse. The demo from last year had a guy hanging and had his guts ripped out till his entrails were hanging out. Seriously, lol what is this?

And someone who's studied art even casually understands what goes into mortal kombat violence animation. These dudes trying to sound like sex workers.
This is some real privileged shit tbh
By Bold 2 in One Go To PostThat demo feeling some type of way, it added nothing to the vibe, it was plenty violent as is.I'll stick to wholesome violence simulators like Resident Evil 2 thankyouverymuch

it explains why anime violence can be artistically silly.
listen boss I ain't looking at this crass shit lets just do fountains of blood and exploding limbs

This is the part where we pretend that TLOU wasnt already violent as fuck. Of course it's going to look even worse considering the generation jump.
Japan has their limits too no?
but they went too far censoring our artsy penises
but for real, I don't have any kids (that I know of) but I'll be horrified if I see my nephew playing stuff like that, stores will sell to anyone these days. God bless you Nintendo

Bragging about your favourite decapitation finishers in MK is a great way to make friends on the playground.
Around the water-cooler in the office, its a great way to lose them.
In 2019, I would hope games have progressed far enough to not need to rely edgy over-the-top violence to prove ...anything
