By Random Ass Username Go To PostStar Fox 64 had a battle royale.i can't tell if they mean free for all, which is normal, or if they mean you'll pick up random fucking sky lasers mid fight - because there are sky lasers again in multiplayer since we've clearly learned nothing as a species
Probably battle royale as in the area closes down as the game goes on.
Only 8 planes per match though....

By diehard Go To Postoh i see we both just listing things from the 90's nowIt was better than to say what I was really thinking...
I have been fooled twice by Bungie... Myth and Destiny.
Marathon was hyped because Mac had a game... but it was no Doom or System Shock
c'mon son
Marathon was low key better than Doom, especially Marathon 2.
How did Myth fool you? It was one of the best RTS games ever made and beloved by basically everyone, not even close to Destiny.
Both brought innovations and didn't just clone something that had come before them.

Low key? lol it really wasn't anything better than Doom and again System Shock... but ok
You guys read Schreier's book? There's a chapter on Destiny's development.
I don't know how they were during the Halo days, but everything was pretty much stapled on thanks to bad decision making. They didn't seem to learn much after because Destiny 2, as much as I loved playing it when it was released had some glaring faults.
Not saying Activision isn't shit though. Forsaken was a hit but they seem to wish it was more of a money maker which is dumb.

By blackace Go To PostGuess I must be the only person in the world that hated Myth and I am ok with that…The only people i could imagine not liking Myth would be people that were ingrained with the tired base-building staple of RTS games at that time.

Marathon had lots of technical and gameplay advantages over System Shock or Doom but i know we not about to get into that.
By diehard Go To PostThe only people i could imagine not liking Myth would be people that were ingrained with the tired base-building staple of RTS games at that time.Naw, I never really like the RTS genre on a whole and even though it was suppose to be really different it was trash..

I wouldn't say it had gameplay advantages of either game especially System Shock, and if tech made games good we'd be talking about how great Crysis was but.. we're not..

Innovative technology, especially when it's game-play affecting can absolute enhance the quality of the game, and is even more pertinent if the debate is centered around the quality of the studio doing the game IMO. The engine and netcode is just one of the things that made Marathon great.
Any single aspect of a game can't make it good, and even games with terrible aspects (Doom's story "uhh you went to Mars and you hear people dying.. gotta go investigate) can still be great.
Even current day Bungie that gets a lot wrong might actually be the best in the business at making the acts of movement and shooting just feel right, and shit.. that has to count for something.
It counts for a lot, but other major aspects of Destiny are legit trash. Just like I wouldn't argue with anyone calling Red Dead 2 a pile of shite because of the way it controls, I have the same attitude with Destiny only for opposite reasons. And if what you want from Destiny is what the game falls flat on, it's perfectly reasonable to think Bungie is a pretty middling studio imo.

Bungie is probably just not a great developer anymore, but i know they are still at the level that i will keep an eye open for whatever they have coming out next. For all it's faults, i still had fun with Destiny 2: Forsaken.
I fell off a month or so after release, the weekly challenges completable in an hour or two being the only semi-reliable way of levelling up was a complete nonsense*. I have no doubt that they have fixed a lot of things, they did it for Destiny 1 and I had a lot of fun with the complete edition of that game even playing it on my own.
But they can fuck off if they expect people to stick around and/or wait a year for them to fix things that should never have been issues in the first place. Genuinely can't remember a studio just discarding all the lessons they seemed to learn from a previous entry the way they did for the launch version of Destiny 2.
*maybe PvP would have done it, but balls to that.

“With Forsaken, we’ve learned, and listened, and leaned in to what we believe our players want from a great Destiny experience. Rest assured there is more of that on the way. We’ll continue to deliver on the existing Destiny roadmap, and we’re looking forward to releasing more seasonal experiences in the coming months, as well as surprising our community with some exciting announcements about what lies beyond.”
By diehard Go To PostIt was still an RTS , if you didn't like RTS games you wouldn't have liked it.Had people swearing that they saw the RTS light because of Myth and it wasn't good... I don't really like a lot of FPS but some I adore... I will

give most genres a try if they have aspects I might enjoy despite not being something I usually play but naw it wasn't a good game to me.
Counting for something is so far away from GOAT status I don't know where to begin. Of course most people aren't going to agree on the same thing but shit they haven't released 1 game I would consider GOAT.... the closet they came was Halo mostly because they showed that FPS games on consoles could be responsive and fun. But still they really aren't as great as advertised
I mean i can't bring up bballref to show GOAT status so it's all opinion anyway. I'm going to go hard going to bat for Bungie .. but if you woulda caught me back in like 05? shit..

By blackace Go To Postall Mass Effects after 1?Now thinking about it, yeah.
How could I have forgotten about Fallout 76. Fucking hell.
a good portion of ONI's development was messed up by the Take-Two/Microsoft deal i believe and probably shouldnt have been released but Take-Two wanted to salvage money from it.
Take-Two clearly learned from it and definitely never did that again.

That is cool but I would rather be able to install something like the Steam Link app on the Switch so I can stream games from my PC to it. Then when I need a poo during a gaming session I can take it to the toilet rather than shitting in a bucket.
By blackace Go To PostBungie getting the RKelly defense…I feel like "That was Bungie West and not actual Bungie" would have been much closer to that.
Just curious, who would you consider a good developer?
By diehard Go To PostI feel like "That was Bungie West and not actual Bungie" would have been much closer to that.naw noone is saying it's not Kels just it's never HIS fault

But still they really aren't as great as advertisedI think their Halo trilogy still holds up as some of the best console shooters ever and it's really not until Reach that they start to lose it. Even if the H2 campaign isn't up to par with CE, it's still so much better than most other shooters. H3 is really the pinnacle of their design prowess.

The way molyneux was obsessed with dumbing down every game, in an already pretty simple rpg like fable was also quite something.

By data Go To PostThe latest WoW expansion takes away more abilities from the previous expansion and gives nothing in returnI would probably be happy with this. I'm not sure of the ideal number of abilities for an mmo, but for one with the pace of Wow, it is surely under a dozen.
