They are for me. Or would be, if I had an actual use for the top one outside gaming. It's really just a glorified screensaver, until …
I can now wholeheartedly recommend Amazonbasics' articulating monitor arm. I've only had to adjust the tension once in over 4 months of constant use. Glad I didn't spend 3x as much on an Ergotron, I can't imagine it being much smoother and solid feeling than this.
Yeah, like I mentioned earlier, I need to get attach my UDP to the underside of my desk. That will clear up a good bit of wire clutter. However, I also need to get longer cables for some pieces of equipment so that I can move them around to better locations, also minimizing wire exposure (like moving the headphones closer to my audio stack).
However, I don't really have any tools so there isn't much I can do about my keyboard, mouse, and charging cables. I could be talked into a wireless ModMic and that would let me remove that cable and the others that are used for my audio interface since I wouldn't really need it anymore. Would need some more funds for that, though.

By bacon Go To PostIs the top one high refresh rate?Yeah, it's a 240 hz panel, iirc.
Forum user Kibner is right. Now I just need a 3080ti and a 12-core 5ghz processor to actually run games at those frames.
Speaking of 240hz, I'm strongly considering this one

IPS panel. 1ms. 27''. Gsync. A pretty new monitor. The other 240hz options on the market have been out for some time now.

Unique and different?
Accidentally posted in gaming thread earlier:
zabo inspired.
that pc tho
I feel like I need a desk like that sans the Wolverine decorations. Used to have an older IKEA desk that I recently gave away that held all of my stuff for years, but didn't have the space to bring it over in our current apartment.

same
Get on it, then. What better time than now. The satisfaction you get from a perfect cable managing job is something else. Too bad Ikea don't sell this beauty anymore, used to be part of their Galant series.
Never getting rid of it.

If anyone's using or plans to use Argus Monitor for all your fans and temps controlling needs - and you should, it's an excellent app - I just renewed my license for another 3 years. It's valid for 2 computers and since I only need one ... Let me know, now or whenever yours expires.

e: also, zabo, i attached some adhesive velcro to my UDP to attach it to the underside of my desk; between that and some other adhesive tie wrap things that came with my desk, my cable situation on the underside should be looking a lot better pretty soon
Most of the adhesive cable clips I've used in the past eventually gave way, some as soon as within a week or two. Especially where you have cables making a 90° or 180° turn, it puts a lot of stress on those tiny adhesive strips. Use wood screws where possible, definitely with bigger cables.
This ghetto solution is oddly effective as well. Allows you to route as many cables as necessary through a single 'clip'. Would've used it throughout the underside of my desk, if I hadn't already 3D printed a shitton of cable management thingies.

By Smokey Go To PostRemember when DLSS was being clowned on.Well, with good reason. Hasn't exactly set the world on fire at the start of its lifespan.
Of course, the joke will be on all of us when it's through DLSS that AIs will gain self-awareness and rightfully exterminate us all.

It's almost like new tech takes a while to mature, especially one built on Machine Learning.

It was always more of a bonus feature of RTX cards, but if DLSS was the thing that pushed you over the edge and sold you on it ...
Bene ma non benissimo, I'd say.

I was in on the 2080ti for 4k60. I've said that before. And it's done a damn good job at it. Ray tracing and DLSS were bonuses, knowing full well that this was the first go around for both of those techs. DLSS especially. If you know how Machine Learning works, it was always going to take time to mature.
Did Nvidia overcharge? Probably. Blame AMD for no competition in the space. But over all, at least the 2080Ti, it's been solid as fuck for my 1.5 years of owning it.
Cleaned the dust filters on my PC for the first time in like 7 months and my CPU temps dropped by about 10C (from 68 to 58) and my GPU by 5C (from 72 to 67). The inside of the case is still looking super clean, at least.🙂

For the sake of your own sanity, I hope it stays that way for you.
You don't want to go down the rabbit hole of aftermarket GPU cooling.
By HonestVapes Go To PostFor the sake of your own sanity, I hope it stays that way for you.Actually not overly worried... I am not overly sensitive. I used to run my last card fans high all the time. So for now just running on default settings

Yeah, I think most modern cards have good enough default fan curves that its not worth the effort of changing them. The exception being blower cards, but that is just the nature of blower cards.

It depends, there's still some shitty heatsinks/shitty fans on cards nowadays, they're just a bit rarer.
Think the worst recent offender was Gigabyte's flag ship 2080Ti card/cooler for noise, due to the fan design. Along with the Asus Strix 5700XT. Though the latter wasn't an issues with the fans/heatsink just with how it wasn't securely mounted.
Come to think of it, think there was an issue with the other Asus 5700XT too.

Just going an eye on the temps the next couple days and if it stays about that not going to mess with the curves
