The stick(s) I'm likely to get once my BR / online fps addiction has run its course and I turn (back) to flight & space sims. The amount of choice in quality sticks and bases and mounts and complementing peripherals is crazy these days, considering how niche the high-end simmers market used to be and still is. DCS, Elite and Star Citizen are doing god's work, the new Flight Simulator is bound to bring in more fans as well.
Bought a cheap Anker ergonomic mouse for work and dang this is kinda nice. Obvs not for gaming but yeah.
Been on the fence between Alphacool's TPV tubing and an EK's ZMT for weeks now. ZMT 16/10 being so easily available has swayed me over to it though.
EK ZMT 16/10 3M
10x EK 16/10 classic compression fittings
2x 240mm Alphacool Nexxos V2
EK-XTOP Revo D5 PWM
That's my current plans for redoing my loop. Redoing all the tubing in ZMT for better longevity, less potential gunk build up from the clear soft tubing. Switching to those Alphacool rads for performance and to take advantage of the extra ports to use as fill/drains. Switching from the extrenal DDC and reservoir in favour of an internal D5 for (hopefully) much lower noise.
Current plan for the loop order is top rad > pump > CPU block > etc. so I can fill the pump almost directly from the top radiator. Can't wait to order all
Need a couple extra weird fittings to make a properly usable drain port with the Nexxos rad at the bottom.
Quick refresh on what my case has been through in the last year.

3D printed feet and top hat, thanks to Zabo.
Everything that you are doing makes me both more excited and more fearful of going with that O11 Mini case and filling it up with as much water cooling as possible (all three 280mm rads, baybee).

It ain't a bad idea like. Massively overkill for the 2700X and 1070, but sometimes overkill is a good thing.
By HonestVapes Go To PostIt ain't a bad idea like. Massively overkill for the 2700X and 1070, but sometimes overkill is a good thing.Yeah. And I would likely be upgrading both within the next year or two. Maybe sooner if I break them while doing learning how to do this. :v
E: I'm also curious just how low I can run the fans and pump(s?) to get adequate cooling
Speaking of, what's your stance on dedicated pumps to the CPU and GPU? I did some extremely brief reading and it seemed like most don't care, except for the extreme overclockers
By Kibner Go To PostYeah. And I would likely be upgrading both within the next year or two. Maybe sooner if I break them while doing learning how to do this. :v
With you every step of the way.
Keep in mind though, I'm thick as pig shit and I managed to do it without a single leak and didn't break anything in the process. Genuinely if I can pull it off, I think anyone can.

I've now played roughly a dozen Quake matches now with the paracord'd mouse. My review:
it owns
It doesn't have the greatest effect on my kda. It mostly just stops those deaths or missed kills caused by a snag. Still would recommend.

It's one of those things that's hard to quantify the actual effect it'll have on how well you'll play, but it still feels like a huge QoL and comfort upgrade.
What colour did you go with?

Nice. I wanted a little color in mine but still fit in with the other black cords I have. I don't think I will change it up anytime soon because it was still a hassle to take apart the mouse and install the cord. lol
The Model O- was a 10 minute job. Remove the feet, undo two screws and replace the cable. Kinda surprised me that it was so easy to do.

I think it's maybe a limitation of the PC I'm using at work. The monitor is an ASUS VP28U.
I've switched the res down to 1440p just so I can push it to 60fps.

By Wahabipapangus Go To PostIt's probably the pc yeah. On board gpu I guess? Or some older HDMI or display port?
Was thinking maybe they gave me a very shit HDMI but more likely it's running off onboard Intel graphics.
It's common for lots of onboard motherboards to not support HDMI 2.0 (or you have an old Intel CPU that doesnt support it), grab a displayport cable as DP 1.2 will do 4k@60hz and im betting your computer will support it.
All these fucking laptops that got a clock speed of like 1,8ghz, but boost well over double that, is that ok? do they consistently stay boosted to that?

Depends on thermals and the set power limit. What type of laptop are you looking at?
something that can handle some image processing and football manager (heavily cpu dependent, gpu doesnt really matter). i also would like it to be 1440p or above.
found a good deal (2/3 of the normal retail price) for this Lenovo Extreme X1 Thinkpad overkill laptop, and kind of want to buy it, despite not really needing that space or gpu... but space is always nice to have.
in truth i really want to wait for the new ryzen mobile cpu's, but i also really want a laptop right now.
but also i fucking love that mouse clit. my last laptop didnt have one and i really missed it.

Intel Core i7-8750H 2,2GHz (4,2GHz turbo mode)
Ram: 32GB
1TB SSD
2TB SSD
Screen: 15,6" 4K (3840x2160) HDR m/Multi-touch, IR+720p
GPU: 4GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX1050 Ti + Intel UHD630

I’d look up some reviews. It’ll probably hang around 3.3-3.5Ghz under an all core load, somewhere in that ballpark. Every laptop manufacturer is a bit different with how they handle the power limits and such though, some even undervolt them out of the box for better sustained clocks and thermals.
Whatever you do, don’t go with an Asus in any case. Recent experience with their Zephyrus G hasn’t been great

Legit Thinkpads (not the E-series, iirc) are pretty darn fantastic for reliability but slightly overpriced, if things haven't changed in like the last five years. And, yeah, I'm also a fan of the nub.

I work full time, have saved since I turned 18. Don't drink, smoke, gamble, don't have a car. Don't buy expensive phones or clothes, sell old tech I don't use anymore and take advantage of finance options when they seem a good option.
I pretty much always wait for a sale, or even go second hand. Like my 9900K, I saved over £100 on that by buying it off eBay, or my headphones that I got for £140 instead of £200. The X27 monitor, I waited months for to go on sale to save about £300 on.
From time to time, I'll make a full PC out of the spare parts I have left over from an upgrading and sell it too. I don't make enough to cover the initial price I paid but it usually covers a lot of whatever upgrade I do.
