A tad big, but that O11 Mini is damn near perfect.
3x 280mm radiators with a mini ITX board. Fairly efficient use of space from a big case manufacturer, can support up to an ATX motherboard too (at the expense of radiators.
It could’ve been a bit thinner if they had the GPU on a riser cable and centred the top and bottom radiators, but I’m really happy with what they’ve done there already. Gets my SFF seal of approval despite likely being about twice the size of my NCase.

PCIE4.0 has truly arrived.
PC Watch has reported that Samsung plans to release its PCIe Gen4 complaint 980 PRO SSD in the US and Korea on January 21st, with a release in February for the rest of the world. Full specifications for the driver are unknown, but it will deliver sequential read/write speeds of 6,500MB/s and 5,000MB/s respectively (at least for the 1TB model) and release with capacities of 250GB, 500Gb and 1TB.

Lian Li out here with the O11 Mini, a large ITX case but built around a proven design with 3x280mm radiator support to make up for it’s size. Meanwhile Asus have this abomination
Fucking huge.
Only 240mm radiator support.
GPU up against the glass.
Fucking HUEG.
Nearly 3x the price of the O11 Mini.

Not a single word from Intel about Comet Lake at the CES 2020 press conference. There is a reason for this and motherboard manufacturers are not very happy because their products are all ready. But ten cores still cause some problems - and the power consumption is said to have washed.
But Intel...
Glad I already ascended to the best gaming CPU of Slaent last year.
Maybe I will try to shift into the O11 mini this summer... need to find out if I need to change to liquid cooling for it.
getting a 1440p/144hz monitor has showcased how the 4c/4t in the 7600k really blows for newer titles. even turning most settings down it's a struggle to get 60 fps at that res for games like re2 and hitman
You sure that it's your CPU? Typically, performance issues with them don't scale with resolution. That CPU may hold you back from getting above like 80-100 fps but it shouldn't stop you from getting 60, at all. That would be your GPU.

You’d be better off with TU150 for air cooling. D15 ready.
Edit:
Depends on what you want to keep from your current build as well tbf. I usually recommend the Cerberus X for downsizing from an ATX build/case as it allows you to keep your motherboard, potentially keep an ATX PSU (with a low profile heatsink or AIO), full length GPU, as many slots as you want, etc.
O11 Mini and TU150 both would require an SFX PSU at minimum. TU150 would also require a ITX board, the O11 has the option to keep an ATX board at expense of radiators but I think the clearance will be under 160mm for CPU heatsinks.

seeing 100% cpu load with only 50-60% gpu usage would indicate a cpu bottleneck yeah?

Generally yes. What GPU you got? What’s the game(s)?

just ran a benchmark of ac origins on the high preset (with very high and ultra above) @ 1440p, something definitely seems not right:
cpu usage was at 100% the entire bench, gpu usage range from 50-80.
for re2 i get above 60 but really bad stutters. hitman 2 i generally hover around 50-60.

Isn't Origins notoriously terrible for CPU's? Like they it was running overkill because of DRM or something..
The last 2 ACs are tough on CPUs, and they love cores. I think Denuvo's impact is around 5% tops.
It's best to go with optimized settings, but yeah, that mostly benefits GPU performance.

AC Origins is heavy as fuck on the CPU (and GPU), so that’s not surprising. Even Sky/Kabylake i7s struggled a bit with it, as did my R5 1600. The 1080 I had at the was pegged at 80% and I couldn’t hold a steady 60FPS.
Hitman 2 is pretty sketchy on CPUs too.
RE2, I imagine you should be able to lock to 60 with RTSS for a stable and stutter free play through though. Seemed like it scales well from the benchmarks I’ve seen with it.
Guess it’s time to upgrade, a wonderful time to also downsize!

All that radiator space and you want to use an air cooler in it? Don’t upset me, pls.
By HoboVapes Go To PostYou’d be better off with TU150 for air cooling. D15 ready.I'm gonna wait to see how my finances are in the spring and try to build my first liquid setup for QuakeCon. Might even go custom loop, though I would likely use soft tubing with quick releases for ease of installation and maintenance.

Want to go the whole nine yards: tiny mobo, liquid cooling block for the GPU, new psu, etc. Would keep my other gear in the current PC to get a headstart into converting it into a server.
By HoboVapes Go To PostCan’t wait for Kib to realise how much audio gear he’ll be able to on his desk after downsizing. It would be the exact same since my tower is on the floor. :v
By HoboVapes Go To PostThat’s kind of disgusting to be completely honest. It has a bottom foot plate to make it feasible. I do need to get a new desk before I get a new case, though.
By HoboVapes Go To PostAll that radiator space and you want to use an air cooler in it? Don’t upset me, pls. That's not what I meant. There's more room for natural airflow in the mini whereas the TU150 is bloated once you put hardware inside it.

Nvidia have added RTSS-like frame rate capping in their control panel with the latest drivers. It's comparable to RTSS in terms of frame time consistency and latency.

By Marston Go To PostSATA vs M.2 - is there a noticeable difference? It's SATA vs NVMe that you need to look at. You can still have a SATA M.2 drive. NVMe are faster and are the same price for the larger capacities now.

If you tell us what motherboard you have, that could help us figure out if you can even use NVMe drives.
