G613 use Romer-G right? The design of it seems pretty great for me (as in, numpad and an extra rows of shortcut keys), but I need my brown switches.
All Logitech’s use their romer gs
I’m pleased with my 613, and yeah, looks wise, it isn’t the best. The 915 is a clear upgrade in every way over it, and I’m not going back to wires again for a daily driver.
By Zabojnik Go To PostFuck RBG on a wireless keyboard. Haven't missed lighting (of any kind) at all.
Only two complaints I have about the G613 is that it's too big and quite ugly. A wireless G Pro keyboard would fix both these issues. Alas.

Galaxy brain is getting a split keyboard where the keys rotate nearly 90 degrees so that you can type while in the handshake position. That would be the best, but I have only seen it in membrane-key keyboards, so that's a no-go for me.

Like you said it looks like the laptop is easily customisable so that's good.
Can some y'all ninjas help me?
Friend wants to build an editing rig, mainly for Premiere and Lightroom, with a little gaming on the side.
Budget is 1500-2000 USD and he already has a monitor.
Suggestions, lads?

Now I'd go as far as to say that a tenkeyless is absolutely :keyicon: for competitive playing comfort.
I'm even considering 60% as an option, such is the need.

If they don't have a NAS or some other form of mass external storage, a full tower may be useful in order to fit more storage.

By Kibner Go To PostNah, it's more comfy because it lets you bring your mouse hand closer to the center of your body. Reduces strain, fatigue, and helps prevent long-term injuries from over-use.Exactly this. The only way to do it with a full-sized keyboard is to move the latter way to the left, which makes it uncomfortable as fuck both for WASD playing and especially for typing. So you usually end up compromising, which isn't great.

I’d never go back to a TKL for games after using a 60%. It’s so much fucking comfier for me, plus once you get your head around the shortcuts on the board it’s not like you’re missing out on anything from a TKL.
By Zabojnik Go To PostWhere does it stop, Vapes? What's next, penile reduction surgery?
Could do with a couple inches off the top like, ngl. 6ft is an awkward height. Too short to feel truly tall, too tall to comfortably deadlift without a wide stance.
Anything less than a 60% is absolutely lunatic land though. I’d go either way, a full size keyboard with extra hotkeys to the left for the QoL or 60-65% for extra comfort of having the board closer to the mousepad. No inbetweens.
Been liking my Anne Pro V1 with browns since I got it, owned two TKLs before that and a regular full size board. Need to upgrade from the V1 though, it’s been acting up sporadically over the last 6 months or so.
The absolute biggest downside to the 60% board market is the lack of reputable brands in the space. There’s cheap and budget options, but some have spotty firmware, then there’s a couple premium options like Ducky and Pok3r boards that sell too fast. Probably gonna go for the GMMK 60% when it comes back in stock and swap in some fancy switches.
Alright I got the wired G502 on a proper mouse pad. Haven't downloaded G Hub yet. Have been using it for 10 mins and my last 2 fingers are getting crampy. Maybe with time that goes away once I get accustomed. I like the whatever you call it leftside sniper button on the Basilik better than the one that the G502 has. Scroll wheel is nice. I'm going to play some games and play with it some more later. $60+tax at best buy. 14 day return policy is on my mind.

Unfortunately, I don't think those cramp feelings on your last two fingers will go away after time. It's probably due to your grip not fitting the mouse you are using. http://www.epicgear.com/en/technologies/types-of-mouse-grip
e: that's actually the reason i moved away from my Zowie EC2-A and a previous Razer(?) mouse I had been using before. I was using a full-palm grip and the side my pinky was on had a sloped contour that made it very hard on my finger to grip and caused cramps after a certain amount of use

£97 for the GMMK 60%. Temptations are high, but the choice of switches is too plentiful. Kalih and Gaterons, purple or browns. Decisions, decisions.
By Kibner Go To PostThat company seems to be making some good stuff but I hate the fucking name so damn much.Me too, I'm just glad there's little/no visible branding on their boards. Their quality control and software both seem to be really good too.
Funnies aside they are properly good at sorting shit under warranty. Still don’t know of any outlet that has cheaper prices in the UK either. I’ll let Vapes give me a dressing down.

Scan are fine in my book, got my pump from them. They're usually a little cheaper than OCUK, but it depends on what you're buying. eBuyer have some good offers occasionally too, always see complaints about their custom service but never had an issue with them.
On the whole though, Amazon are by far the cheapest. The smaller/specialist stores just can't compete with an Amazon sale. Except for when it comes to GPUs though, weirdly. Scan and eBuyer usually come in cheaper for them, OCUK tend to be the most expensive but also sell some models you just can't order elsewhere.

Is it time to update you lot on my PC post-whetness?
It is so fucking quiet now, I'm astounded by it. Like it was already pretty damn quiet, but now I've gotta be sat in actual silence to even hear it at idle. Still got some air in the loop, but the temps are good enough that I'm not even arsed about it. Still no leaks, no growth, no issues with the tubes kinking or anything like that. It's all working flawlessly.
Temp-wise, I'm in the mid 50c range for the GPU and high 60c range for the CPU while playing games, 1500RPM on the 25mm side fans and 1000RPM on the bottom 15mm fans, still got headroom to lower the noise at load but I'm pretty happy with it.
Pump speed is 20%/2000RPM at idle then I ramp it up to exactly 35% at load. Don't seem to gain any thermal headroom with max pump speed, and it makes too much noise above 35% to even bother anyway. Like the difference between 35% and 36% stands out immediately to me.
For the pumps I've used recently, I'd rate them by ear like DDC3.2 20% > DC-LT Silent BIOS preset > DDC3.2 35% > DC-LT Standard/Performance preset > Asetek Gen 5 > DDC3.2 36% and above.

I'd hold out then. You won't benefit from the extra storage till you run out, but you'll benefit from dual channel memory straight away.

By Flutter Go To Postalright. Right now it's 2x4GB. Guess I'll get an 8GB stick for now.
Oh, ooh. Well in that case, it changes things a bit. Maybe hold off. You're already in dual channel. If anything you'd want to get two 8Gb sticks to run in dual channel, if you need the extra RAM or leave it as 2x4Gb for the time being. Not sure if it'll still run in dual channel with odd sized sticks (4Gb and 8Gb), that's beyond me fam.
RAM flex mode has been around for a good while. Two sticks would run in dual channel mode, the third wouldn't.
So, yes, it would work, but I'd still sell the 2x4gb sticks and get 2x8gb, if / when upgrading, so you get no performance penalty, however small.
It's just the civilized thing to do.

Thanks guys. I'm not doing video editing yet so I think getting an SSD would make more sense than a ram upgrade for now.

Ayyyyy by the way, that new Logitech board doesn't use Romer Gs. It uses new "GL" switches, but they're low profile switches. Not sure how to feel about that. Don't really feel there's ever any need to use LP switches in a keyboard designed for desktop use. It's not like the height of the board is a factor in anyway for a desktop fullsize keyboard unless you have a weird preference for typing on a laptop.

Just let me know your budget and what kind of target you wanna hit (1080p/60fps, 1080p/144fps, 1440p, etc.), I’ll throw a parts list together for you and go over some options with you.
Hit me up for ergonomic peripherals and sound stuff. I promise I will try to keep it all for less than the cost of the actual PC. 😈
