By inky Go To PostIf you sold your car tho 🤔Breh, I don’t have a car to sell.
Must resist 4090….
Though I think pcie 3.0 on my 10700k would bottleneck it so I’d be better off building a whole new system anyway.

By Kibner Go To PostSome beautiful desks…I could use a new desk..
By reilo Go To PostroflWait until you see the price of Apple's headset, huehue.
No home VR user should be buying the Quest Pro, get the Pico 4 or wait for Quest 3.
By Kibner Go To PostLooks like I'll be getting a tester with these switches:
- kailh box silent pink (stock)
- kailh box silent brown (tactile version of the pink)
- durock speed splash bros
- kailh speed silver
- gateron speed silver
- durock t1
- aflion panda
- boba u4
- durock shrimp
Got the tester in! Looks like Kailh Box Silent Pink and Gateron Speed Silver feel the best to me. Leaning more towards the Pink, but I will sleep on it and see what I think in the morning.
e: the Aflion Panda is also intriguing to me...

RIP to all the people that sold their card already and said it would be different this time because the market was flooded. Happens every time.

Learned my lesson from the 2080ti lol
They have still been available on various websites. Just not the FEs on Best Buy because someone leaked the URL to buy them early, so they were sold out like five minutes before the website updated to sell them.
e: looks like stock has finally gone out in the vast majority of sites; still, many had stock for hours

By Smokey Go To PostLooks like they all cool really well tooA theory is that Nvidia was planning on these cards being higher wattage and then changed their mind at the last minute, which was too late for AIBs to change their cooling designs. As a result, all these coolers are complete overkill.
Oh, speaking of lowering wattage, it looks like you can lower a 4090's power draw to 70% of normal and only lose like 5-10% of the performance.

Yup . 850w PSU should be enough.
By Celcius Go To PostI’m in here sweating while gaming on my 3090. Now I’m wondering how different the 4090 would beIf you change the max TDP to match the 3090, it will be the same. Unless, of course, you already use frame rate caps and the 4090 hits those frame rate caps, then it would make your room less hot in comparison to the 3090.

Not ideal, but you could just lower your fan speeds. Hear me out here.
The more efficiently heat is dissipated from the components, the faster that heat is transferred into the air which raises the ambient temperature.
By lowering the fans speeds and allowing the GPU to ride it’s thermal limit, the heat transfer will become less efficient and you can delay how quickly your room becomes a sweatbox.
By Lunatic Go To PostSo basically the same as any new tech released. Nerds have no patienceProbably one of the most true posts
By HonestVapes Go To PostI’m a proud coward with my 180w 3080Ti and 65w 12700.I'm very tempted to go and enable the Eco option on my 5950x to bring it from 120w down to 85 or thereabouts.
By Celcius Go To PostDid anybody get a card on day one?
I had one it in my cart as soon as it went live on Newegg, and yet it wouldn't progress me to the checkout screen. Massive L. Don't even feel like looking at my 3080ti tbh.
By Laboured Go To PostI'd seen someone mention how big the box is but this is hilarious. At first glance I thought that was a SFF PC lol
By Laboured Go To PostHave there been any big reviews on what the best AIBs are? They are all practically the same. Pick the one that is cheapest and/or has the best visual appearance to you.
Ah well makes things simpler I guess. I've never actually tried to get an FE before. Does only Nvidia sell them direct?

The current situation is actually a prime time, imo, for an AIB to differentiate themselves from the others by introducing a "4090 Mini". Main differences would be a smaller cooler (since the existing ones are all giant overkills), a second, default BIOS that runs at a lower power limit, and taking up only 2.5 slots instead of 4.
It would be hard to convince an AIB to do that, though, because the performance would be like 5-10% lower. But I think that market might actually exist. I'm quite possibly delusional, though. They could even make bigger profit margins on it when keeping the pricing the same as the "big boy" versions because of the reduced material cost.

100w less power, 100rpm slower fan speed, and 95% of original performance? That sounds great to me. I dunno.
By Kibner Go To Post100w less power, 100rpm slower fan speed, and 95% of original performance? That sounds great to me. I dunno.More importantly, -6C temp
By reilo Go To PostMore importantly, -6C tempEh, die temp doesn't really matter as long as it isn't affecting actual clock speeds. It means nothing. The wattage being drawn is how you determine how much heat is being dumped into the case/room.
By Laboured Go To PostAh well makes things simpler I guess. I've never actually tried to get an FE before. Does only Nvidia sell them direct?Direct-ish, through a single official retailer depending on the country. For UK it's still Scan, I think. Clicking the link in the official store (when in stock) will take you to the retailer's shop. Unless something's changed.

Also, there's apparently this now:

Unless Nvidia and partners are lying about supply being 3-5x what it was for the 3000 series at launch, I don't think you'll have much trouble nabbing one in the next couple of weeks, if you're fast. You should sign up for alerts, see PartAlert on Twitter and Discord. It's how I was able to secure my brother's 3070ti and the 3090 I traded + cash for my 3080 @ MRSP-ish.
I’ve been posting about it in the tech thread but there’s something wrong with my PC. At first I thought it was Verizon but it’s not, as all my wifi devices work perfectly fine now. They were the issue at first.
I’ve switched Ethernet cables because that’s the most obvious choice. I’ve done basic ping tests to make sure my NIC works which according to the tests, it does.
I don’t know what else it could be. Hoping maybe someone on here has an idea
The only possible thing I haven’t tested is maybe it’s the virtual machine programs I need to use for two of my classes, but my computer was working fine with them before.
Any other suggestions are appreciated
