and Nvidia claims you’ll be able to see players peeking out of cover quicker than someone using a 240Hz or 144Hz monitor.
That may sound like marketing bullshit, but I noticed this a lot in Siege at 240hz. Siege is pretty bad anyway for peeker’s advantage anyway, but the higher refresh rate exacerbated it for me when I was the one peeking.
It also felt pretty noticeable on PS5 playing at 120hz vs people at 60hz. I swear I was dodging bullets I should not have been dodging playing it last year.
CSGO, you’ve gotta come to a stop before you can shoot accurately with most guns. You can’t just wide swing an corner and land 100% accurate shots. Same for Valorant I’m guessing.
I would guess it’d be less beneficial in those games than games with already noticeable peeker’s advantage.
Why even add claims there. Surely that's just a fact. But diminishing returns and all, so doubt it will be anything as close to the old jumps in hz. 120 to 240 is not easy to spot already, but there is an effect for sure
I’d imagine 120hz or 144hz to 500hz would be noticeable. It’s the incremental steps where it’d get muddy in a side by side comparison.
120hz = 8.3ms
144hz = 6.9ms
240hz = 4.2ms
360hz = 2.8ms
500hz = 2ms
120hz = 8.3ms
144hz = 6.9ms
240hz = 4.2ms
360hz = 2.8ms
500hz = 2ms
360hz monitors haven't set the (competitive) scene on fire, this won't either. Still, nice to see.
Hope QD-OLED monitors get up to 240hz quick. Shouldn't take too long.
Ryzen 7000 looks good to me, but I'd probably only consider upgrading to a v-cache variant, if they're even gonna be making those.

There’s a mix of reasons for that.
-240hz to 360hz is a relatively small difference.
-Some 240hz monitors have much better motion clarity.
-A lot of professional players will play on the same equipment that they have on LAN. If they only have 144hz or 240hz monitors on LAN, then there’s no point in them practicing on a 360hz (or 500hz) at home.
55g, three colours.
I wish there was as much choice in the controller market as there was in the keyboard/mouse market.
lol still can't believe I get 50% more battery from running the Manjaro OS than Windows on this Gen4 i7 laptop. Means I can use it to actually do stuff for a couple hours before plugging it in
Went with the EGG MCP450 pad.
Disappointed at first because it just didn’t allow my Superlight to track correctly. Googled it, turned out when I removed the stock feet, I forgot to remove the second layer underneath.
So after correcting that and putting the glass feet back on, it’s tracking correctly. Feels fucking nice too. Haven’t used a Cordura pad before, glides consistently across the entire pad. Seems like it’ll be an easy surface to clean too.

Do they make 4K 120hz gaming monitors yet that don’t need fans and don’t have to use 4:2:2 chroma subsampling?
I’m assuming many would just grab a 42” oled and use hdmi 2.1?

I guess that answers that lol
Will be interesting to see the price, whether they make a 42” version, and whether they change the auto dimming.

I know Hardware Unboxed has some fairly recent reviews on 4K/144hz monitors so I would say start there.

Was contemplating a rebuild at the end of the summer so I checked on bestbuy and surprisingly graphics cards are available

This weekend for memorial day I had family come visit and my sister walks into my room while I'm playing FF14 on my rtx 3090 and she's like "why is it so hot in here, is something wrong with the heating?" and I'm like "no it's my PC, just put your hand behind it" and then she does and is like "ah!"
I hope rtx 4xxx cards aren't furnaces too lol

So one of my cats put a scratch down the middle of my monitor. Anyone dealt with this before? Any advice?

How is it taking Microsoft so long to make task manager dark when you're in dark mode? or do they just plan to leave it as-is?
I remember when they first added dark mode to windows 10 and then it took a while for them to make file explorer dark too afterwards.
edit: Oh, I guess it will be fixed sometimes soon: https://www.howtogeek.com/786819/microsoft-redesigns-windows-11s-task-manager-adds-dark-mode/

Are the Logitech G Pro and Razer Viper V1 the only options for lightweight and wireless mice for left handed players?
My computer has randomly decided to stop using half the ram I've installed. I've tried everything I could find online and nothing's fixing it. It's hard to think that the ram is broken or loose because it recognizes that its there in both the task manager and the BIOs. It's just 'reserving' it.
By Laboured Go To PostNOW we’re talking. I’m not going back below 4k and I’ve never had a high refresh rate screen in my life. Looks like the RTX 4090 has a purpose now.

The price tho.
I can't justify spending a thousand on an IPS monitor when I can get 55 inches of OLED for £900.
I'm playing Cyberpunk 2077. It's a huge ass game and I don't feel like taking the PC down to the living room's OLED for a month, so I'm playing it on my X34 ultrawide. The night / dark sections looks like complete ass. It's actually painful to look at. Fuck IPS and its glowy-ass low contrast image.
I legit cannot wait for (QD-)OLED monitors to become widely available.

I’m surprised you’re not opting to just 3D print the whole thing.
I’ve got a a little project for modding my case shaping up. Got a vertical GPU bracket and a riser cable set aside. Need a few more bits before I can start but the plan is to just cut up the back panel and bottom vents to install the bracket and increase airflow.
Currently debating whether to go through with watercooling my 3080Ti or not.

By HonestVapes Go To PostI’m surprised you’re not opting to just 3D print the whole thing.There's definitely room for 3D printed parts, but I want a sliding system and for maximum rigidity / durability metal is the way to go for core parts.
Think I'll eventually end up with something very similar to what this guy did, I just want more options for stick height and angle adjustments.
At least your shipping cost was reasonable (compared to subtotal). That's why I'm holding off on this purchase:

In the year 2022, Windows still requires me to get drivers on another computer and put it on a USB stick so it can install my Wi-Fi adapter drivers after a fresh install.
To make matters worse, the setup ("Let’s Connect You to a Network") is blocked from being completed because it cannot find said WiFi adapter, so I had to open task manager and kill the Network Connection Flow to proceed.
I hate that OS so much.

Finally updated to my Z690 rig. Ended up using my Gigabyte Aorus Master motherboard instead of the Maximus Extreme Z690. Using the latter would've required me unboxing my Corsair 700D and setting that up. Gonna look to sell the Maximus in the coming week or so. Should be able to get quite a bit back, all I did was install a few SSDs on it.
On the Aorus side, I was able to update the BIOS using their Q-flash feature. You just need power to the motherboard and a USB drive with the update, press a button and it does the rest. XMP worked fine and my DDR5 Dominators are running at 5600. Discared the SATA SSD drives and using 3 M.2s -- 2x Samsung 980 Pros (500GB and 2TB) and a MSI 1TB Spectrum.
Any place where I can get reliable Windows keys? I'm on 10 right now, and it's upgrading to 11, but going to eventually need a key.

allkeyshop dot com has lots of sellers where they're a couple of dollars. I think I got one from HRK which didn't work but it was so cheap I didn't even care.
Apparently Windows 11 Pro For Workstations doesn't have telemetry or a MS account requirement.
Windows 10 LTSC is also telemetry free, but that doesn't seem to be a viable version of Windows for a home consumer.
I don't know if those are easy to get/find, but that would be my preferred option for Windows.

By Celcius Go To PostGot any updated pics of the rig with z690 and DDR5?
yah, i'll prob post some tomorrow.
So i tried bf2042 (yes i know) in a 128p conquest match to try out the CPU. Whether it's W11 and how it uses AL cores or something else, the game felt noticeably smoother and my 3080ti was pegged at 99%. Temps on the 12900k didn't exceed ~63c. Haven't OC'd it, but based on the temp and power increase for a gain of 100mhz+ from benches I've seen, it's probably not worth it. I've got it hooked up to a Corsair Elite H150i fwiw.
The Dominator RAM looks so good with the Capellix lights. They're pretty damn bright and give off a lot of pop.
