One of the bizarrely interesting (to me) things to observe while tuning my memory is how the amount of time to run a stress test is reduced with each step of the process. A memory stress test that used to take 2h 40m now only takes 2h 12m.
By Zabojnik Go To PostI think I'll need to buy a couple of external wi-fi antennas, if I want to keep using the motherboard's bluetooth. And I do, because it frees up a USB slot, which are a premium commodity on this mini-ix board, considering the number of external devices I have. The antenna that Asus included …What'd you buy zabo?
… works fine, but it's a desktop antenna. I printed a holder thingie and tried putting it inside the case, but the reception is barely better than with no antenna. I guess the all-metal mesh panels act as a pretty decent Faraday cage, who would've thought.
If anyone can recommend a pair of wi-fi antennas with articulating / 90° elbows, please do.
EDIT: Nevermind, bought.
By Pedja Go To PostWhat'd you buy zabo? This pair of long schlong antennas.
Overkill for bluetooth, but I wanted the flexibility and higher gain (according to the description, I know next to nothing about how antennas actually work), if I ever find myself in need of good wifi reception as well. Hopefully never.
The below mini antennas would've been more than enough, seeing how a tiny USB bluetooth dongle gets the job done with no external help. It's what people seem to be recommending for motherboard bluetooth in general.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Motherboard-Transmitter-Thinkcentre-Omnidirectional/dp/B08CNK9BGF
What I learned is that this antenna connector is called RP-SMA, if it has no pin in the center, SMA if it has one.
Ordered yesterday on Amazon.de, delivered today. Absolut sensationell.

Some older games suffer with their UI at 4K. Deus Ex HR’s UI becomes almost comically small at 4K.
I keep the desktop UI at 100% render scale, have done with 4K at 27” and 55”. I prefer the smaller icons, but that’s adjustable anyway.
Another in the continuous farce of me trying to finalise my PC, got those tubes with a 90 degree fitting to replace my current ones, but I can’t get the actual fitting off. Any hints lads?

If you’re not arsed about keeping them. Get a pair of pliers around them. If you do want to keep them, look inside the fitting to see if they have a Allen key thread. If they do, just unscrew them.
EK fittings do, but they’re an odd size Allen key. I’m not sure if it’s a universal thing or not with fittings.

Brute force only fails if you don’t commit to it.
Try putting some ice around the thread to cool the metal down and trying again after 10-15 minutes, or get some rubber bands around the outside threads for more grip.

I didn’t realise just how badly AMD dropped the ball with the 6500XT until today. Depending on the game and whether you’re on PCIE gen 3 or 4, it can perform worse than a 1050Ti.
Even in the current market, it’s a straight up bad card. ‘Scusting.

incredible. Hope the new one gives you some joy.
It's an absolute pain, I'm almost certain my partner thinks I'm lying about all the new parts that keep arriving. Only so many times I can tell her I haven't bought anything new, just RMAs
I’d be sick of me too, can’t wait til I can stick it to the side and not touch it but for playing MicrosoftActivisionBlizzard games
Just bought a GamersNexus desktop mat: https://store.gamersnexus.net/products/gn-red-black-hud-mouse-mat
At first I was going with the blue one but then I saw this red one and liked it so grabbed it. I use an XL HyperX mat for my personal machine and this will be for the work machine.

Still haven’t sold my 2080Ti. Finally got around to putting the original cooler on it earlier, but I need to take it back off and replace one of the thermal pads for the memory chips. The original disintegrated after I took it off originally and the replacement I used earlier was too thick.
Why are shit thermal pads so common on GPUs anyway?

Half of the ones on my 1080ti disintegrated upon disassembly as well. The answer is usually cost savings, silly as it sounds for such a nothing thing.
Do aftermarket quality pads actually hold up after a year or three of baking?

New radiator fitted, refilled, temperatures a good 5c less than before. Never touching this boy again
H
The filling and draining is by far the biggest ballache of watercooling. Only really needs doing every 18-24 months. Even in a well laid out loop though, it’s near impossible to do a full drain.
I kinda want to get some of that thermal putty to replace my 3080Ti pads. Messy as it looks, seems like good stuff.

The pads that came with my waterblock were completely intact apart from one strip that seemed to be a different type.

It was fine because the radiator has a G1/4 on the top just for the sake of filing. So I could easily fill, run the pump and fill again. Not even slightly sure what I'd do without that port though

Either fill through the QDC fittings since you have a spare set from the old tubes (I’m assuming).
Or you could’ve added a T or Y fitting with a stop cap and used that to fill through, or looped in a reservoir.
There’s always options, just depends on how easy/hard you want it to be and how much money you can throw at it.

This is the only RGB software I've come across that works across all my different branded components and peripherals without any issues. It's not without some flaws, but for the most part I can set a colour across all of them or an effect and it just works.
I've had issues with the software for my ASrock board in the past which is now solved completely by just using this software instead. Overall, it's working for all my different branded parts. ASrock, Logitech, Glorious, EK and G.skill.

Suppose it just would have been a bit more effort to get the air out of those tubes.

I think GPUs might be the only limitation with it. It doesn’t pick up my FE either, but EVGA’s software does.
DDR5 is finally in stock at Newegg, and has stayed available through the weekend. Looks like they've also been taken out of the Shuffle. They must've got a huge shipment.

Now you have my attention.
In light of the RX 6500 and RTX 3050, I am so very glad I went with a £290 RTX 2060 KO for my girlfriend’s PC just a couples months before the 30 series was announced.
If it sells for £239, then it's gonna be kind of a bargain given the current circumstances tbh. I can see it selling for that low too, already seeing discounts on the 6500 XT down to £200.
Well, the 6500XT is actually a piece of garbage. It's not worth $150.
I'd be amazed if the 3050 is cheaper than $500. 3060s still go for $900 (I'm talking local/import prices obvs)
