Not a bad price there tbh. All copper too so you could reuse the radiator down the line if you wanted to for a proper loop. Fittings are all G1/4 and reusable too.

Would have to flip the CPU rad to being top mounted and put the GPU on the front, imagine that I won't be able to go push pull anymore, given I've got two 140mms either side of the CPU rad
Went to try a bunch of keyboards and switches and all of them got some flaws or things i don't want. Maybe it truly is time to finally make my own
By JesalR Go To PostAny idea if the backplate is replaceable?I doubt it, but possibly. Most blocks and backplates use different threads, lengths or even screw placements.

You could probably get something like a thick EK backplate leave it placed on top with just thermal pads as the sole form of security. If you don’t plan on swinging the PC around, then it wouldn’t go anywhere.
Fair. Was thinking waterblock though, got confused. Effectively, if I upgrade the card at some point in the future, am I effectively on the hook for a full new cooler? I guess that, since the radiator can be re-used, I could just find an external pump and block for whatever card I may go with?

So your FE 3080/3080Ti.
I’m not sure if the pump that’s attached to the waterblock is removable or not. I would imagine it is, and that you could replace it with one of Alphacool’s alternative G1/4 terminals as they tend to be quite standardised within their own range of products. However if it isn’t, you could still use the block and pump in conjunction with another identical pump without issue.
You could probably run it with a D5 or DDC too, however I think the higher head pressure and flow rate of those pumps may be detrimental to the DC-LT 2600 pump that Alphacool use.
It’d still work, but the DC-LT may fail after X amount of time and your DDC or D5 would just carry on going.
By Smokey Go To PostVapesOnly thing I’d fully recommend is a combat rebalancer so there’s no more bullet sponges (outside of bosses) and something to make the driving feel better.
Started playing Cyberpunk again. looks incredible.
Recommended mods?
The mods I used in the past were before 1.31 though, so you’d be best checking the Nexus for what’s good in regards to those two. There were a few when I last checked in June/July.

Went with a DDR4 mobo because DDR5 is jokes atm. I have 16GB in my current PC but it's 2400MHz and I'm thinking it might be worth going up to 3200Mhz, thoughts?

Finished putting together my brother's new 12700k build the other day. Thing is a beast, slaps my 5900x around in most benchmarks.

Absolutely. 32gb of 3600mhz CL16 ddr4 can be had for a very reasonable price.
Which mobo did you get?
ROG Strix Z690-A. I'll definitely need a new cooler too because I doubt the Hyper 212 is enough for the 12700.

Yeah, I don't see the 212 keeping this thing under control. It's probably enough for typical gaming loads, but even the aforementioned massive heatsink starts sweating when the cpu gets pushed.

Can’t turn off the RGB on my Model D wireless or the keyboard, on the website it gives you shortcuts but they don’t work. The shortcut works for calculator and changing the colors, but I can’t change the lighting pattern or turn it off.
Downloaded the software for the keyboard and it still won't let me disable it.

Has anyone here played Deathloop and experienced frequent crashes? I've tried most of the potential solutions I could find googling, but nothing seems to help. Losing progress and starting the mission from scratch is incredibly annoying, since you can't save.
It crashed around launch quite a bit if you had invasions enabled
Strange. Should be fairly straight forward keyboard at least. But never even tried on my mouse

ASUS with the smoothbrain move of making the VRM heatsinks so tall that there's a load of CPU coolers that don't fit because they hit the plastic cover. Now do I go with the NH-D15S which should fit if you put the offset side towards the PCIe card or do I just go with the H100i PRO XT?
I’ve been moaning about board layouts for a while, especially with ITX boards. Oversized heatsinks and non-standard socket placement can absolutely kill compatibility.
Anyway, stick an AIO on it unless you have a bias towards air cooling.
Anyway, stick an AIO on it unless you have a bias towards air cooling.
Speaking of AIOs, I'm having a weird noise issue with my EK-AIO 280mm. After an intensive gaming session it starts making gurgling noises. I assume air is somehow travelling down during the thermal expansion phase and getting trapped inside the pump after the loop cools down.
I can make it go away if I just turn the pump speed up to 100% for a couple of minutes before bringing it back down to ~50%, but you'd think this orientation would help keep whatever air there is up in the rad.
Only thing I can think of is to rotate the block 90° and / or shit the tubes' a bit, see if that helps.

It’s a pain in the arse, but remove the AIO, hold the radiator above the pump and gently shake the shit out of it to release any trapped air in the block.
That’s a common fix at least.

By HonestVapes Go To PostIt’s a pain in the arse, but remove the AIO, hold the radiator above the pump and gently shake the shit out of it to release any trapped air in the block.Yeah, but wouldn't that trapped air be making noise at all times, if it was there? It only happens after a long gaming session and disappears after I crank the pump up for a couple of minutes. Wouldn't that suggest that the air is getting in and out, somehow?

It only happens after a long gaming session and disappears after I crack up the pump for a couple of minutes. Wouldn't that suggest that the air is getting in and out?It could be, or could be that there was already a little air bubble in the block from shipping/assembling the build and that’s the cause of things.
The manufacturing process and/or shipping process tend to cause micro bubbles throughout the AIO. My theory would be that those bubbles have settled in the two points they can collect given the orientation. The block and the top of the radiator.
Air bubbles and loops are weird honestly. I had a large radiator at the top of my loop, a much more powerful pump and I still had an air bubble in the CPU block for over a year. Nothing would clear it until I tilted the entire PC in a way to line up the bubble with the outlet tube on the block.
I think the inlet / outlet being at the bottom of the block might be (part of) the issue.
I'll be rotating the PC whenever I take it down to the OLED anyway, so I'll be monitoring the situation. It's not a big deal, just mildly annoying.

Originally I bought a 3090 FTW3 through the evga queue but it was defective and I returned it. Later I regretted it and asked if I could buy another one but they said to just rejoin the queue again (this was like Feb or March). Today my turn in the queue finally came around again and I just ordered the 3090 FTW3 replacement. Woot!
Going to sell the 1080 Ti SC2 that has been sitting in my closet for months, then will just need to decide what to do with my current 3080 Ti FTW3.

Keep the 1080 ti as a backup. Always keep a backup card. Sell the 3080ti and enjoy the profits.

By Zabojnik Go To PostHuh, this would actually make for a really interesting left joystick replacement in a dual stick setup. Bookmarked.Aye. We would be using them for all kinds of games that allow analog movement and mouse aiming. Might have to get my gf's brother to 3d print us up some holding structures that rotate these contraptions on their side a bit so that they rest at a more natural handshake-like angle for even better ergonomics for our old-ass joints.
By Pedja Go To PostYou can see the gears turning in zabo's head. Incredible
Here's what I'm thinking, Pedja. Stay with me here.
right stick
y axis: pitch
x axis: yaw
left (thumb) stick
y axis: forward / backward strafe
x axis: left / right strafe
left index / middle finger buttons on Kibner's contraption: up / down strafe
rudder pedals (or right joystick twist axis, of which I'm not a fan): roll
I can see this setup working very well in space sims, since strafing generally doesn't require the level of fine movement control you get from a quality joystick. And there'd be plenty of buttons left on the Cyborg, seemingly very easily accessible, for custom key binds.
Btw, regarding Deathloop's constant crashing, the issue was g-sync. It doesn't play well with it for some reason. Turning it off solved the problem.
By Celcius Go To PostHave the prices of water cooling part gone up like everything else during the pandemic?
Not much change in watercooling prices. I haven’t noticed an increase apart from 30 series waterblocks trending at a higher price in general.
Pumps, CPU blocks, fittings, tubing, coolant, etc. Not seen a change
