By Pedja Go To PostDick move by Intel to have the review embargo end on the same day the product actually releases.
Just a bit.
Part of me is thinking to pull the trigger now since I doubt anything but this-will-burn-your-enitre-house-down reviews would actually put me off.
Fortunately the world isn't a scalpers paradise right now so genuine buyers wont be negatively affected by it.
I’m used to the embargo’s lifting on release by now, shit as it is.
£900-£1000 can still get you a really good PC.

If someone manages to see a 12900k in stock, and can purchase it for ya boi, I will be grateful as a OG member of this club
How bad do you guys think Alder Lake shortages will be?
I'm thinking it won't be nearly as dire as Ryzen 5000 at launch, considering Intel's own 10nm / 7 process node that they don't have to share with the rest of the world and the wide availability of AMD CPUs.
I fully expect to be able to buy a 12th gen CPU of my choice at street price in a month or three.

Probably as bad as Intel launches normally are. Paper launch, some scalping, but it’ll calm down after a couple months or so.
brrrrrrr I’m gaming on my RTX 3080 Ti to heat up my room... Why didn’t nvidia advertise this feature? lol
Also, I’m assuming on alder lake you’ll have to overclock the p cores and e cores separately?

I'm thinking of getting a Quest 2 in the next few weeks as I am finally getting a refund on festival tickets I bought in 2020 and I want to use it also on the PC.

ive no idea about pc hardware pricing atm, but just a tip if you're getting a quest 2: Invest in a 5ghz router rather than a long usb c cable. It's somehow much more stable and easy, and on top of that, makes it easier to use it elsewhere around your home.

Bought a small TV stand to lift my big ass tower off the carpet. :v

Wanted something a bit smaller and more discrete, but none of them were rated for the weight I needed (35-40 pounds).

By Celcius Go To PostOuch at these z690 motherboard prices. $600 for the Asus Maximus Hero board this time around…Near £400 for the Asus ITX board 😭

That looks chonky. I did something similar recently but on a smaller scale. I bought a monitor riser to put my PC on top of and put my PS5 underneath it. I should be getting the parts in tomorrow that I needed and installing the new GPU, so I’ll put some pics up then.
By HonestVapes Go To PostNear £400 for the Asus ITX board 😭When put longways, my tower has an inch clearance width-wise, but the feet are both to the edges length-wise and has about an inch in the front and rear both that are just hanging in mid-air.

The FT02 is a big boi.
I looked at monitor risers, but they capped out at like 23-25 pounds, which was nowhere near enough.

The front print for my case is about 240mm wide by 350mm long. It’s big for an ITX case, but an FT02 it isn’t.
It’s not really a good case for airflow or compatibility either, but fuck, I love how it looks and the amount of radiator I can stuff in there offsets the airflow enough that I don’t mind.
It’s like a precursor to the O11 Mini, but 25% smaller with no side fans/radiator support.
I still want to build that O11 Mini so bad. :(
I'm just waiting until I can do basically a full rebuild of my machine (cpu, gpu, and mobo, at least) before I buy one. This GPU market has just been so awful that I have been unable to rationalize paying $1,000+ for a GPU.

hmm, looks like there's a shortage of DDR5 chips
Maybe holding off for the 13th gen Intel is best after all...

I'd be fine using this personally with an i5, not sure I'd stick an i9 in it though.

It's fine. I'm gonna give it a month or two, see what's what. Might even go for a lower tier 8 core CPU in the end, spend the money on the GPU.
I’m surprised the Gigabyte or MSI ITX boards have popped up yet, not even seen a high end ASRock ITX board either.
There’s a pro to that low end ASRock board at least with both m.2 slots being on the front of the board. Keeping them cool in a sandwich case would be easy.
Edit: Didn’t realise it was €330, it’s £230 to buy here. Brexit finally paying off

Judging from the info in the video, seems Gigabyte will offer a DDR4 and a DDR5 variant of that ITX board. Be interesting to see how DDR5 compares to DDR4 14-14-14-XX B dies.

DDR4 in applications where the memory latency makes a difference. But that it should quickly pull ahead in the next year or two.
Fucking hell the first part of my new build a Corsair RM850x came in. It is tripping me out having the PSU fan and it not spinning.
Also are new nvidia GPUs coming out next year?

By Lunatic Go To PostThanks Kibs!Yes for both Intel and AMD.
Do these new CPUs require a new MB?
Intel's 12000 series are on the new LGA1700 socket.
AMD's unannounced/unreleased new CPUs will likely be on the AM5 platform/socket.
Vapes, how long are the included SF750 cables? Should I bother with custom length ones? I don't really care about super clean cable management in a no-see case, but maybe for the sake of airflow?
There seems to be enough space in the Meshlicious for creative routing after the standoff mod though, so idk.

Finally draining my loop to start the process of installing the 3080Ti and I’m reminded what I fool I am for using a bottom mounted radiator (they’re an arsehole to drain)
Stock cables are fine. I’ve dealt with them in the smaller Dan A4 SFX and NCase without issue.
Custom length cables are just a flex unless you’re absolutely cramming the case full and need to less cable bulge.

I’m also reminded of my foolishness for going with parallel through the GPU/CPU block because it’s gonna be a pain in the dick to take apart without a spill.
Learn from my mistakes, people.
Edit: Took the CPU block off and discovered micro cracks in the acrylic. Replacement on the way for tomorrow. Going with an EK acetal block, which is stronger than acrylic and not prone to cracking.

It’s still water tight as is, but I’ve been looking for an excuse to replace that block for a while now.
Looks nice, but it was always a pain in the arse to get bubbles out of. The RGB was the old 4 pin style too and looked quite bad compared to the ARGB RAM and reservoir.

Called it a night.
Drained and took apart the whole loop. Removed the 2080Ti, cleaned all the fans and radiators. Spilt a little water on the morherboard that trickled down to the PCIE slot, so blew it out with air and I’m gonna let it air out as precaution until tomorrow before fitting the 3080Ti.
Tomorrow I’m gonna fit the new CPU block, do a simple loop for a top radiator, CPU and reservoir. Fill it and get it going, then fit the GPU and get everything back running.
I’d really like to take the opportunity I have and cut out the bottom vents for better airflow but I’m not sure if I can be arsed or not yet.
There’s a lot of material there that’s impeding air flow. Feel like I probably need all I can get with a 300w+ GPU on air.
Edit: measured the clearance up top, 81mm exactly to fit a radiator and fans. There goes my Phanteks T30 dreams. I suppose the second best fans on the market will just have to do.

I do think EK’s gear is a bit pricey, but I can’t find fault in anything of there’s that I’ve used. Fittings, reservoir, now the CPU block. The machining is always consistent, build quality always solid, etc.
