Theose are the Official Star Citizen Headphones. They cost €800, only one side works and when you try to use the microphone they stop working but they'll be ready for the games release.

Proud of you. Going with an AIO for cooling?
By HonestVapes Go To PostProud of you. Going with an AIO for cooling?Seems to be the only sensible option, if I'm going with a power hungry CPU, much as I'm not a fan. A nice 280mm, I'm thinking.
By SavageGordonLung Go To Postis that your headphones looking like a spaceship?Logitech G933, still going strong after, fuck me, must be close to 5 years now.
Well, actually, I did start having some connectivity & power issues lately, I think either the battery or the receiver might not be long for this world. The Meshlicious will replace the G933 charging station on my desk, I might take that opportunity to upgrade to the G Pro wireless.
Possible configurations.
Damn, I'm liking the vertical look far more than I thought I would. Though I think it's partly because of how close to the table it sits compared to the unintended horizontal config. The lip of the mounting bracket thingie in the back prevents it from sitting flush with the table, but that's easily fixed.
Anyway, it's nice to have options.

Build complete!
Thanks a tonne for the help lads, especially Vapes.
All seems to work well, temps are fairly reasonable as far as I can tell, CPU is in the ~30 range, GPU around 40 at idle. Ran Heaven and Superposition and the GPU hit 69, and CPU didn't get much about 40 if at all.
Only issue is the case/AIO fans seem to ramp up and down a fair bit more than I'd hope, given the temps are fairly low. Trying to figure out the best way to look at fan curves etc on a gigabyte board, and tweak them.

The company I work for also makes video games, it's an entirely valid expense, bite my arse Horse
Any recommendations for fan control software?

If you can't get what you need from the BIOS fan control, then Argus Monitor is Slaent approved, along with MSI Afterburner for GPU fan control

I replaced the 120mm intake on the case with two 140mm fans that match the ones on the AIO, so I've been able to run things a fair bit slower and still get very stable low 30s on the CPU. Biggest issue I have atm is that the front fans are on their own headers, and the AIO fans are on another header too, so they're running at slightly different speeds. I wonder how much noise that might be causing

You could probably get by with BIOS control.
If I had those fans, I’d set each header to the same PWM percentages at the following intervals
0c to 65c - 700RPM or lower
65c to 85c - 1200 or 1300RPM
85c+ - 1700RPM/100% PWM
That should solve most of the annoyance since the fans won’t ramp up constantly while the CPU temperature fluctuates. Those speeds will also avoid a particular issue with the Arctic fans too, as around 1000RPM then tend to make a weird noise that isn’t audible at higher or lower RPM ranges.
Also I wouldn’t worry about them running at slightly different speeds, that’s usually the case anyway. There can be a 5 or 10% variance in RPM between fans of the same exact model when set to the same PWM percentage.

Beautiful system btw.

Beautiful system btw.Cheers! First build in about 15/16 years, so I was a little nervous.

360 here. 💪
I'm tempted to upgrade from my overclocked 10700K but I'll probably wait for the second generation of this new architecture. I'm curious to see the performance / temps / power consumption though.
By FootbalIFan Go To PostWhat makes a motherboard good or bad? What kind of computer are you trying to build? You have to consider:
*the chipset (affects what cpu's are supported in addition to many of the common features)
*the form factor (is this for a small form factor PC? do you want a huge EATX motherboard that requires lots of space?)
*the layout (some only have 2 ram slots or rotated cpu socket, what pci-e slots and layout it has for those, are the motherboard VRM coolers so big that they interfere with your cooler's ability to fit due to size?)
*aesthetic (everybody wants dat RGB, plus the general look or color scheme)
*who makes it and how their bios support is (remember when some manufacturers didn't add ReBAR support to some of their motherboards and others did? Also, how often they release updates. Also, do you like the layout of their bios?)
*general build quality
*features specific to that specific board (aimed at overclock ability? has an uncommon I/O port that others don't have? does it have a button to release the pci-e tabs? etc..)
*price
I'm not building again until next year, it's mostly out of curiosity as I didn't understand how a sentence like "this is the best motherboard I've ever had" can exist
(As I've always been under the assumption that they're all the same and just have different number of ports/slots/support different hardware)
But you described most things there already haha thanks

I'm pleasantly surprised by the build quality of the Meshlicious. It's also way heavier than I expected.
The metal mesh on the panels is super thick, feels really good, could be easily cut for a monitoring LCD mod or what have you.
Every time I think of building a PC, I look at the GPU prices and get scared. I remember the times when 1000€ could get you a decent PC...
